Chapter 265
"Silas," Rudra called out.
The young Viscount flinched, stepping out from the shadow of the pillar. "Y-Yes, My Liege?"
"Have one of the guards fetch the four hundred Armor Enhancement Stones currently sitting in the territory warehouse," Rudra ordered smoothly.
Silas physically recoiled as if he had been struck. "My Liege! Those stones are the culmination of the Alchemy Tower's labor! They cost the territory nearly a million gold in base materials to manufacture!"
Cecilia stepped forward, her merchant sensibilities completely overriding her polite deference. "Guild Master, you cannot be serious. Five hundred thousand gold is a massive portion of the territory's operational budget. You are gambling the city's infrastructure funds on a pair of gloves to reach Ultimate Enchantment !"
"I can understand your concern, Cecilia," Rudra sighed for a moment before hardening his tone. "But just the previous few enchantments have already increased my personal power by at least 3 to 4 times. You can just think of this as an investment if you want. The stronger I get, the more content I can complete and the ricker we can get. Isn’t that the main reason we develop our cities? Anyway Silas, fetch the enhancement stones."
Silas looked like he was about to cry. He bowed deeply. "As you command, My Lord."
He hurried inside. A few minutes later, two castle guards emerged, carrying a heavy wooden chest. They set it on the table and opened it, revealing the 400 freshly manufactured Armor Enhancement Stones.
Cecilia crossed her arms, looking entirely disapproving. Silas wrung his hands together, sweating profusely.
Rudra didn't hesitate. He took the territory's stones and went right back to work on the gloves.

The brutal cycle repeated. Blue aura. Fail. Drop. Orange aura. Fail. Drop. Silas let out a small, tortured whimper every time a stone turned to dust. The guild members were completely deadpan, thoroughly defeated by the financial destruction happening in front of them.
With less than ten stones remaining from the warehouse batch, and even Rudra thinking that he might need to borrow some from his new guildmates, the success chime finally occurred.

Rudra equipped the gear.
The heavy black coat settled over his shoulders. He grabbed Extortion. The pure white electrical storm hummed in his hands, completely offsetting the abyssal black aura of his coat. His base strength had just received a massive, permanent percentage increase across the board.
He turned around to face the guild members, looking exhausted but deeply satisfied.
"Alright," Rudra said. "That looks much better."
The Genesis guild members stood in absolute, scarred silence.
Tara stared at the empty stone table. Current and Spark looked like they had just aged five years. They didn't cheer despite this qualifying as a historical scene. They were just too traumatized by the scene and were doubting their life.
In the span of forty-eight hours, they had toured a city packed with legendary NPCs, discovered their guild master held multiple legendary classes, and watched him burn millions of dollars to enhance not one but rather four of his items to the fabled Ultimate Enhancement level that they have never touched before
Cecilia closed her ledger. She didn't say a single word. She just turned around and walked slowly toward the castle kitchens to find a very strong cup of tea.
