Chapter 120
Chapter 120
The entire server stopped.
Players in cities, dungeons, and hunting grounds all paused what they were doing. A golden system message flashed in the corner of everyone’s vision.
[A player has reached Level 300!]
The world chat instantly exploded.
“Level 300?! Already?!”
“It’s definitely Rudra. He was at 299 when I last checked.”
“The absolute madman actually hit the milestone.”
Players immediately opened the overall leaderboard to check the rankings. But the moment the window loaded, the chatter turned into massive confusion.
[Overall Rankings]
- Kraugel
- Zibal
- Chris
“Kraugel is back at number one? Did Rudra delete his character?!”
“Maybe he got banned for hacking?”
“Idiots, he probably reached level 300 and transcended the server! He’s an NPC now!”
While the forums filled up with idiotic theories, a second system message chimed for the entire player base.
[A legendary Staff Saint has been born!]
The confusion turned into pure chaos. The smarter players rushed to check the Staffsman class rankings. Rudra’s name was missing from there, too.
The top rankers quickly put the pieces together. The first ranker didn't get banned. He didn't become an NPC. He cleared a ridiculous class quest and became a Legend. The system just took him off the normal leaderboards.
Deep in the frozen north, a man with black hair casually dodged the swinging club of a massive Frost Troll.
Kraugel slashed his sword in a smooth, perfect arc. The troll collapsed into the snow, dropping a pile of coins.
Kraugel didn't look at the loot. He was looking at his system messages.
He opened the overall leaderboard. He saw his own name sitting at the number one spot. He let out a quiet sigh and closed the window. It felt empty. He knew he didn't actually earn the spot back. Rudra had just moved to a completely different playing field.
Kraugel sheathed his sword. He opened his own status window and stared at a hidden title at his screen.
[Sword Saint Candidate (Stage 2 - Transcendent)]
He wasn't jealous. He wasn't upset. If anything, a sharp, intense fire burned in his chest. Rudra had paved the way. He proved it was possible to break through the candidate stage.
Kraugel tightened his grip on his sword hilt. He turned toward a deeper, darker part of the frozen forest. He needed to train harder. He had a lot of catching up to do.
In a rocky wasteland on the other side of the continent, a man with a wild grin slashed a solid Golem.
Crack.
The Golem shattered into a dozen pieces. Hurent dusted off the dust from his sword. He read the legendary system message floating in his vision.
"A legendary staffsman," Hurent muttered. "So Rudra finally took the final step."
He opened his own class window.
[Class: Aura Master (Epic)]
Hurent just shrugged. He didn't feel any panic. His class was a growth-type. As long as he kept training and mastering his aura, it was guaranteed to naturally evolve into a Legendary class eventually. He didn't need to stress over someone else beating him to the punch.
"Good for him," Hurent said out loud. He walked over to an even bigger Golem, pulled his sword to his front, and coated his sword in a dense reddish aura. "Now back to work."
Outside the entrance of a dusty golem labyrinth, a young man in cheap armor stared at the sky.
Grid was holding a pickaxe. His jaw hung open. His eyes twitched as he read the system messages.
"A Legend?" Grid whispered. "Someone got a Legendary class?"
His hands started to shake. The pickaxe slipped from his grip and clattered against the rocks.
"Why?!" Grid screamed at the top of his lungs.
He dropped to his knees. He grabbed a handful of dirt and threw it at the labyrinth entrance.
"Why is everyone else so lucky?! I’ve been digging in the dirt for weeks! I get killed by stray arrows! I had to pay off a massive debt! And some lucky bastard out there just gets a Legendary class handed to him?!"
Grid threw himself onto the ground. He literally rolled in the dirt, kicking his legs like a toddler. He threw a massive, unfiltered tantrum. He cursed the game developers. He cursed the system. He cursed the lucky staffsman who got the class.
He spent ten solid minutes whining in the dirt.
Finally, he ran out of breath. Grid sat up, wiping his runny nose on his sleeve. He looked at his dirty hands and let out a miserable sigh.
"Whatever," Grid sniffled. "I still need to make money."
He bitterly picked his pickaxe back up. He dragged his feet, marching slowly into the dark golem labyrinth to mine minerals and grind his terrible levels.
In the dark, smoke-filled basement of a shady tavern, the atmosphere was completely different.
Dozens of Dark Gamers sat around wooden tables. They were leaning forward, staring at the system logs with greedy eyes.
"Rudra is off the board," a man with a masked face whispered.
"He got a Legendary class," an assassin in the corner replied, tossing a dagger into the air and catching it. "You know what happens when someone gets a massive class upgrade like that. The system balances it. He probably got hit with a heavy penalty. Or his level got reset."
The dark gamers exchanged dark looks.
"The 1st Ranker," the masked man said, licking his lips. "If he's weak right now... imagine the loot he drops. Imagine the bounty we could get for streaming his death."
The tavern filled with the sharp sounds of metal scraping against metal. Swords were sharpened. Daggers were carefully coated in green poison.
The Dark Gamers didn't care about fair fights or tournament rules. They just saw the biggest walking treasure chest in Satisfy history, and they were eager to hunt a Legend.
