Chapter 130: Frosty Eyes.
The Chief sent a punch downward toward Elias’s face, putting everything behind the attack. But Elias somehow managed to raise his fist in time and caught it squarely in his palm.
Without hesitation, he swung at the Chief. The blow landed directly on his jaw, nearly shattering it and forcing his massive head to twist to the side from the impact.
The Chief staggered, and Elias immediately took advantage of the opening. The Chief could only fight with one arm, which gave Elias a significant advantage, even though his own physical prowess was still a level below the Chief’s.
"You don’t sound like a ruler," Elias said coldly.
Before the Chief could recover, Elias grabbed him with his other hand and pulled him closer. His fist smashed into the Chief’s ugly face, sending blood spraying from his mouth as another blow followed.
"You became powerful, but instead of protecting and providing for your clan, you enslaved them and turned them into your playthings. You’ve killed more of them than we humans have."
Elias tightened his grip, keeping the Chief from escaping.
"You can continue to rage and rant, but it only proves to me that you are nothing, and you will remain nothing even after we beat you."
The Chief roared angrily.
His Dormant Ability, Blood Rage, intensified as a blood-red halo suddenly encompassed the battlefield. The pressure surrounding him increased, and the air itself seemed to become heavier as the ability continued to grow in strength.
Then something began happening where his missing arm had been. The empty space suddenly started to squirm.
The Chief’s flesh twisted and writhed as something pushed outward from within his body. The mass continued to grow until a deformed limb violently burst from the empty space.
It wasn’t shaped properly, and the arm looked twisted and unnatural, but it was still an arm nonetheless.
The newly formed arm collided with Elias’s face, and the raw brute force behind the attack actually sent him flying several meters backward. His massive body crashed into the wooden wall, causing the ancient structure to shake violently as the runes covering its surface immediately lit up.
The wall tried to withstand the impact, but it couldn’t hold on in the end. Cracks spread through the section Elias had crashed into before the weakened structure finally collapsed beneath his weight, sending chunks of ancient wood and rubble crashing to the ground.
The New Eidolon Priest and the Divine Priest were right next to Elias’s face. They had been caught in the collapse and quickly crawled out from beneath the rubble, their breaths heated as they recovered from the unexpected destruction.
Andrea was only a short distance away, and it was immediately clear to both Priests that she had seen them.
Their surprise attack had been completely foiled.
"What are you two boneheads doing?" Andrea asked, staring at them. "If you wanted to die that badly, you could have sent me an invitation. I promise you, I’m not as busy as I look."
Both Priests were left speechless.
Neither of them seemed to know how to respond to the woman’s ridiculous confidence, but before either could say anything, Elias’s massive body began to move.
He slowly rose from the ground, his metallic body emerging from the rubble as he regained his footing.
The low-level Eidolons immediately began running through the newly created opening in the wall. Neither Andrea nor Elias made any attempt to stop them. The human camp was already empty, and there was no longer anyone left inside for the Eidolons to attack.
The Chief and his army would soon realize that as well.
...
"Is that all you’ve got?" Elias said condescendingly.
He took a steady step backward, moving deeper into the camp. His movements were deliberate, almost as if he wanted the Chief to believe he was retreating because he could no longer handle the fight.
The Chief was on the other side of the broken wall, his massive figure still standing among the destruction left behind by their battle.
Elias continued retreating, deliberately stepping farther into the camp with the clear intention of making the Chief follow him, which he did proudly. The Chief had already become too consumed by his anger to consider why Elias was moving away from the battlefield. As far as he was concerned, Elias was simply trying to escape.
"Why won’t you stand and fight? You seemed awfully confident a moment earlier. Where’s all that bravado..."
He stopped and glanced down at Andrea. She looked up at him, her hazel eyes like frost, showing no fear despite the Chief’s presence.
The Chief smirked and once more turned his attention toward Elias. "You will die screaming, and once I’m done ripping you to shreds, I will do the same to her, except there will be nothing left of her."
The Chief attacked without giving Elias the chance to retort. The ground actually exploded as he took off, his enormous body accelerating forward with enough force to send pieces of ice flying from beneath his feet.
His fist was blocked by Elias, but the force behind the attack was overwhelming.
Both of Elias’s hands bent under the impact as the Chief’s strength pushed him backward. His massive feet scraped across the frozen ground, carving deep trails through the ice as he was forced farther and farther away from the center of the camp.
He continued sliding backward until his legs almost reached the frozen lake slightly beyond the camp.
Yuri flashed out of his way, appearing nearby as Elias struggled to hold the Chief back.
"Keep the Chief within the camp, or the plan won’t work."
Elias’s arms were shaking from the force of the attack, but he understood what Yuri was talking about.
The tons of explosives Andrea had ordered Claire to set were the only thing possibly powerful enough to kill him. Even if they couldn’t, the explosion would at least bury the Chief beneath the ice, and if that happened, he would remain buried there forever.
"Easier said than done."
He rose and ran forward, his massive body shaking the frozen ground with every step. The Chief remained in front of him, ready to meet his charge.
The moment Elias was within reach, he jumped and brought a powerful punch down at the Chief.
