Chapter 38 Can You Really Straighten Out a Delinquent?
Chapter 38 Can You Really Straighten Out a Delinquent?
I was once again pretty badly injured… well, maybe not that badly.
My folks showed up the second they heard about it, making an absolute scene. The old man and the old lady were both screaming, even threatening the instructors and anyone else within earshot.
The Chief was actually bowing to them, admitting fault. But that woman is smart; she omitted what really happened and just claimed her team had been careless with me.
“We assure you, we will take better care of him.”
My parents finally retreated home, though not without first trying to get back on my good side. I was still pissed at them and barely said a word in response.
“Son, please don’t push yourself. Just rest,” the old man said.
“Iryoku, we know this wasn’t your fault, but please take care of yourself,” the old lady added, tears threatening to spill once again.
Once they cleared out, my focus shifted back to the Chief. Even with that absolute dump truck behind her, she’d managed to dodge me ever since our fight. She didn't check on me, didn't speak to me—she didn't even ask about me honoring my part of the bet. While my folks were in the room, she refused to even look in my direction. The moment she could, she bolted, muttering something about being busy.
So, I was stuck in bed again—in my own private room, of course. They still didn’t trust me in gen pop, even incapacitated. Luckily, nothing in my arms was actually broken. According to the doctor, my nervous system had gone into self-defense mode, unconsciously shutting down before I could take permanent damage. My arms were just heavily strained. Give it a couple of weeks, and I’d be back to normal.
Damn it. I can’t even jerk off now.
My body bounced back, and soon enough, I was moving around and doing things on my own again.
Of course, I kept acting like I still couldn't move. I even played nice for a while—no lashing out, just quietly going about my day.
Until one afternoon.
An instructor came in with my food. I didn’t recognize him from my last stint here; he looked brand new. Now that I think about it, I haven’t seen that stupid mustache guy around lately either. Did he retire? Whatever.
"Hey buddy, I’m getting tired of this," I said. "Call my woman—the Chief, the one with that monumental, juicy ass only I get to eat. Tell her I need to see her. I'm starving over here, and this meal isn't what I'm craving. We’ve got important business to discuss."
The instructor looked at me like I was completely losing my mind.
“Listen here, young man, you need to show some respect—”
I planted a kick right in his chest. He let out a choked “Argh!” and hit the floor on his back.
I moved fast. Vaulting out of bed, I didn't have full strength in my arms yet, but it didn't matter—I loomed right over him.
“I said bring the Chief here. Now!”
I stood up and gave him a parting kick to the ass as he scrambled out the door.
After a long minute the cavalry arrive. A whole squad of instructors showed up, muzzle and leashes in hand, ready to strap me down. As for me? I was just sitting there, casually finishing the rest of my food.
"Hey, at least let me finish my meal," I mumbled through a mouthful of rice.
"I told you he needs to remain muzzled and restrained!" one of the instructors barked.
Then a sharp voice cut through the commotion. "Didn't we agree that you would behave from now on?"
I finally turned around, wiping my mouth with a napkin before tossing aside the plastic baby utensils they had forced me to eat with. Then I casually ran a hand through my hair, smoothing it back as though trying to make myself look presentable.
“Oh, you’re actually here. But I have been behaving, haven’t I?” I sneered. “Or is this about what we did...?”
I let the sentence hang as I scanned the room. The rest of the instructors, along with her loyal guard dogs, were all staring holes through me.
"Anyway, you know this can go one of two ways if I decide to make trouble." I held up two fingers. "You already know I don’t usually care what happens to me, as long as I get to cause some damage first."
She continued staring at me, silently challenging me. So did everyone else.
I sighed and flopped back onto the bed, rolling onto my side as though I were about to go to sleep.
How boring.
I waved a hand dismissively over my shoulder. "I don’t feel like talking while a whole crowd is standing around gawking at me."
After a moment of silence, she must have given them a hand gesture, because the room slowly started to empty. As they shuffled out, I caught that new instructor—the one I’d just baptized with my foot—grumbling under his breath: "Who the hell does he think he is? And why is Director Shindo actually listening to him?"
The soft click of the door closing gave me my cue. I rolled back over and sat up.
She was still standing there in her usual pose—arms crossed, looking as sexy as ever while glaring daggers at me.
“Oh, hello there, Chief Hibiki. Come on in. Make yourself at home.” I patted my lap. “You can sit here if you’d like.”
When she gave me no reaction, I threw her a crisp, mocking salute as I rose to my feet, then offered a slight bow. “Just your humble student showing the proper respect to his sensei.”
I took a slow step toward her.
Instantly, her arms dropped to her sides. Her stance shifted just a fraction, her weight settling onto her front leg. She was already braced for combat.
Ah, what a woman. I don't know why, but seeing her instantly prep for violence completely turns me on—though, let's be honest, she doesn't need to strike a combat pose to get my attention.
"It’s Director Shindo. Address me with respect," she corrected sharply. "And you still haven’t returned to your studies. We agreed that you would make an effort to behave like a decent person, and—"
"Relax," I interrupted. "I'll get to it eventually. But... I'd like to make another bet." I flashed her a perverted grin.
She shook her head. "Why would I do that? I beat you fair and square. And don't try to make excuses—take your loss like a man."
I grabbed my crotch right through my pants. "Oh, but you know I'm a man. Right here." I thought for a second about whipping it out to show her again, but...
"And look, I'm not saying I won't try to play nice, at least a little," I added, leaning in. "But you did mention something about freedoms and perks earlier, didn't ya?"
She didn't move a muscle. She didn't even flinch. "Speak clearly."
"I'll admit, Chief, you're a very strong and knowledgeable woman—and not just beautiful," I said, slowly pacing around the room. "You know, I've realized something. I never actually learned how to properly defend myself. I'm always doing reckless shit and just getting my ass handed to me."
Her eyes never left me.
"So, I want you to teach me how to fight. Teach me how to defend myself." I pointed a finger straight at her. "Teach me how to survive, pretty please?"
"And give wings to a deadly scorpion? That is a terrible idea," she refused flatly. "Besides, you just attacked one of the instructors. Why would I grant you anything if you don't show me you can walk the right path first?"
My expression darkened. For a split second, I almost spat my venom, the muscles in my face already twisting into that unhinged, violent look that took over whenever I lost control.
Instantly, her stance hardened. Her guard tightened, every instinct warning her I was about to lash out.
But I reined it in. I forced the calm back into my voice.
"Fine. I'll behave," I said.
"Then show it," she retorted, "and try to forget your hate and improve on—"
"Do not try to convince me to forgive the people who wronged me. Because I would rather die than do that!" My teeth ground together.
She let out a soft sigh and turned to leave. "Just behave. That's all I'm saying for now."
I didn't waste a second, shamelessly checking out her rear as she walked away. "Oi, oi! Can I cop a feel? Or at least a tiny little suck on yer tit?"
She shot a sharp glare over her shoulder. "In your dreams." With that, she slammed the door behind her.
For the next few days, nobody bothered me.
Honestly, I was just bored. I was getting itchy to see her again.
That lasted until one morning, when a hard, rhythmic pounding on the door woke me up.
"What?" I groaned, cracking my eyes open. "What the hell? What time is it?"
One of Chief Hibiki’s loyal guard dogs stuck his head into the room.
"Time to move, Taiyou. You have work to do," Dog Number 1 barked.
I rolled over and pulled the blanket back over my head. "Stop messing around. I still need my beauty sleep."
Work? As in digging? That's weird. They know they can't control me—why would they let me out there and hand me a potential weapon?
"Director’s orders," he stated flatly. "Ugh!" I seethed, kicking off the sheets and sitting upright. "My wife..."
A few minutes later, I was standing in the dirt yard—our usual site for forced labor and trench digging—shivering in the snow as the sun barely rose over this forgotten corner of the countryside. “Are we digging again?” I asked, glancing at the guard beside me.
Dog Number 1 gave me nothing. Complete silence.
Right on time, the Chief arrived with Dog Number 2 beside her, who was carrying something heavy and dropped it onto the ground.
Woah, woah, woah. She was decked out in camo cargo pants, military boots, and a tight khaki shirt. She’d even swapped out her usual glasses for a pair of dark sunglasses—despite the fact that the sun wasn't even out yet.
I was instantly turned on. I flashed her two thumbs up. "Looking really cool and sexy, Chief! Absolutely love the combo!" And of course, that powerful rear of hers couldn't hide behind the camo, nor could it escape my thorough inspection.
She wasn't having it. "Enough already," she commanded out loud. "Now, cadet, hit the yard. Give me five laps!"
I stared at her like she was spouting total bullshit, but she just maintained her stoic posture, silently daring me to defy her.
I let out a smug chuckle. “All right, love. I’ll play along for a little while.”
Little does she know, I’m actually a beast at this.
Sure, I hadn't run in a while, but I used to train constantly. I ran like a maniac, mostly because cardio and foot speed were hands-down the best survival skills a guy could have.
I turned to jog off, but her voice stopped me in my tracks.
"Where are ya going, cadet? You forgot your bag."
She pointed a finger straight down at the massive, heavy camo sack resting in the dirt.
I stared at it and let out a heavy sigh...
Huff... huff... huff...
I tried my hardest to maintain a steady, calm pace, but I was barely on my second lap and my lungs were already on fire. This fucking bag was way too heavy...
By the end of the run, my legs completely gave out. I let the heavy sack drop to the dirt, heaving for breath. Across the yard, several guys were already digging trenches—the usual troublemakers. I looked around for my muse, only to find her already towering right over me.
"Time for push-ups," she commanded, her voice slicing through the haze in my head. "Give me twenty."
I shook my head to clear the exhaustion and planted my hands on the ground. Luckily, twenty push-ups were absolute child's play for me. But right as I braced my core, about to push off—
"You forgot your bag," she cut in coldly.
Oh, fuck you.
By the time we finished several grueling drills with that damn bag strapped to me, I was sprawled out on the ground, practically seeing the afterlife. The sun was fully up now, but even in the cold morning air, I was sweating buckets.
Suddenly, a stream of cold water splashed over my face. "Pfft—!" I sputtered, jolting back to consciousness.
My sexy drill sergeant was bathing me in her personal juices! Or, well... she just had a plastic water bottle and was casually pouring the rest of it directly onto my face.
"Ahhh," I grinned weakly, wiping the water dripping from my mouth. "I'm just going to imagine this is sweet honey straight from your hive, Chief."
"Enough, go take a shower and eat. After that, you're going straight to class." She gave a brief hand signal to her loyal guard dogs.
On cue, the two buff dudes flanked me, ready to drag my exhausted ass back inside.
Now I was back in a classroom. How long has it even been? Sitting at a desk felt completely alien.
The instructor at the front started droning on about numbers, then letters, and then variables. Crap.
"Buddy," I said, raising my hand to interrupt. "I think there’s been a mistake. Look, I might be seventeen, but I’m supposed to be starting out on the first-year high school curriculum. This math is way too advanced for me."
From his post in the corner of the room, Dog Number 1 deadpanned, "This is first-year high school math."
I let out a long, heavy exhale. "This is gonna be a long day."
