Three Divine Wishes: Yes, I'm OP!

Chapter 257: The Root of Ruin (4)

With just a glance, the woman absorbed every moment the Smiling God had lived over the last eighty thousand years.

Much like him, she felt a deep pull toward this place—but for reasons she understood all too well.

’Why... is there such a heavy presence of death simmering in this small minor existence?’

Even after sifting through eighty millennia of his knowledge, the intricate schemes, and the countless subtle moves he had made and prepared within the Orin Star System, none of it truly caught her attention.

Nothing stood out—until the very end of his time there, when he gazed from afar at the newly arranged worlds.

But for her, there was something more hidden in that moment, something beyond what he could see.

She moved imperceptibly nearer, her eyes dark as the deepest abyss fixed intently upon him, while the bound and dormant Death Siren vessel lay motionless in its chains.

"You would... please me," she spoke with quiet command, "if you were to discover what lies hidden beneath the fascination with that world named Kalpa... and the mountain that stands at the center of the Star System"

The Smiling Supreme God tilted his head slightly, a faint smile curling his lips, though it never quite reached the shrewd glint in his eyes.

"Haha, it seems everything is unfolding just as planned. My attention has already shifted to Kalpa."

Ever since the leaders of the invading Pantheons across the Orin Star System decided that the path to ruling the region lay in seizing that world, he had been ready.

Whether or not she pushed the needle, he had already set careful measures in motion for that very place.

Then slowly, his smile thinned as the second part of her request settled.

"And... the mountain? Have you perceived something in it? To my sight it remains ordinary."

She smiled at his words, giving a small shake of her head.

"Well, that’s the thing," she said. "I don’t notice anything in particular. But that absence alone is reason enough to look into it."

He let the silence linger, the garden’s cool dampness and rich floral scent hanging heavily around the altar, before he bowed with the deliberate elegance of a court long steeped in tradition.

"Consider it done... I’ll be back with whatever I can find."

With that, the Smiling Supreme God departed, swallowed by the black-and-blue gloom of the Empire, while the illusory empress and the silent vessel lingered among the fountains and the dark marble path.

She remained where she was for a time, as she watched the place where he had vanished back toward the palace until even that last disturbance of air had settled.

The garden held its quiet: water falling in thin arcs, petals beaded with dew, the cool moisture of the night thick against her illusory figure.

She gazed into the open darkness beyond the columns, her abyss-black eyes unfocused, and after a long silence, a sigh escaped her lips.

"I have been away from Pantheos... far too long."

Sitting there, her thoughts wandered once again to the Orin Star System and the heavy, lingering presence of death she had sensed simmering within it.

"I only hope... something useful can come from all of this," she murmured, aware that while she seemed composed, she had been in a vulnerable state for countless eras.

But now, with the possibility of finally obtaining a real body, her priorities had begun to shift.

And that presence—the presence of Death—if it could be swayed, if it could be made to serve.... it might just smooth the path of her return.

After a little more time, she disappeared from the gardens entirely, as if she had never been there at all.

----

Far from that black-and-blue Empire, night had settled over the world of Loreua.

The sky carried no bright moon, only a thin scatter of distant light, and the air smelled of faint smoke from evening fires still dying in the lower districts.

Amber lounged on a sloping rooftop above a quiet street, her long brown hair stirring in the night breeze, brown eyes locked on the nearby palace of the Loria Empire where lanterns still glowed along its high walls and towers.

Below, the city exhaled in the slow rhythm of late hours.

Now and then she caught the sound of footsteps on stone, a door shutting somewhere out of sight, the whisper of wind sliding over the tiles beneath her palms.

She stayed until the roof’s coolness seeped into her clothes, until the palace lights blurred faintly at the edges of her vision, and finally released a breath that was almost a sigh.

"I guess... I should stop delaying the inevitable."

Two whole months had passed since the auction, and in that time she had made her way to the capital of Loreua.

Yet during all this time, she hadn’t even begun to take the first steps toward uncovering the information she had worked so hard to collect.

When she first arrived, just as Akasha had suggested, the Renegade Loria seemed to have completely forgotten about her—as if she were nothing more than a fleeting ghost.

From that point on, Amber, being the clever adventurer she was, turned her attention to gathering information on none other than Princess Milan.

This was entirely because Akasha had told her that Milan might be the key to unlocking the truth about her origins.

For an entire month, Amber devoted herself to meticulously learning everything she could—from Milan’s daily activities to even using supreme divinity to discover every one of her secret hideouts.

Still, it was this very thing that made her hesitate, holding back from whatever might be awaiting her.

After all she had discovered about Milan, the most striking realization was just how despicable the woman truly was—so much so that, to some, she might even seem evil beyond comprehension.

And even though Amber felt no real attachment to any family member except for Liliana, she couldn’t help but wonder...

How would she react, what would she feel, if she learned that her parents had endured some tragedy that left her an orphan?
