Chapter 309: Abilities
Chapter 309: Chapter 306: Abilities
As Zhang Wenda shouted, a flash of blue light erupted, and his former Inner World materialized before him.
The Little Black Cats, the clowns of the Dream Circus, and even the deceased Hippocampus all appeared at his side.
And it wasn’t just them. Among their ranks were a blue rabbit, a yellow child, and a crimson monster. Everything that had once existed only in the delusions of his own mind now appeared beside Zhang Wenda in tangible, physical form, all of them looking at him.
In the world of his own creation, all rules bent to his will.
Zhang Wenda’s heart surged as he gazed at the scene. This was the ability he had gained by becoming a 03. He didn’t know why he had obtained the yellow he’d been searching for at this particular moment.
He only knew that when he thought of the vanished Song Jianguo, his dead friends, and the utter destruction of the Third Line, an uncontrollable thought had bubbled up in his mind. He didn’t want this. He had to do something, no matter how weak he was.
The moment he completely abandoned his detached attitude, the moment he stopped weighing the pros and cons of every action, the moment the simple thought of ‘I have to do something’ appeared in his mind—that was when the long-sought-after yellow had so abruptly appeared.
What the yellow represented, or what the yellow chalk it granted him meant, Zhang Wenda no longer cared.
With all three colors found, he had become a 03 and gained abilities he’d never had before. All he knew was that he now had more power to do what needed to be done!
“Qianxi!” Clouds of thought swirled up from Zhang Wenda’s feet. Brimming with rage, he led his allies in a charge toward the Qianxi before them.
A grotesquely swollen computer cursor instantly appeared beside Zhang Wenda and lunged to click on him, but the crimson monster switched places with him in a flash.
The monster shot forward at extreme speed, grabbing the cursor with both claws and, with a roar, tearing it in two.
Zhang Wenda’s counterattack followed immediately. Appearing where the monster had been, he extended his right hand, and a colossal red scar abruptly materialized in his grasp. Wreathed in a thick, hostile aura, it shot toward the distant Qianxi like a spear.
Qianxi quickly clicked on himself with a cursor. As a golden pop-up window appeared, he immediately maxed out his own parameters.
The normally sized Qianxi instantly swelled to the size of a small mountain. He caught the incoming scar with one hand and lifted it with ease.
“Little Zhang Wenda, you think becoming a 03 makes a difference? There’s still a huge gap between us.”
Qianxi lifted his gigantic foot and brought it crashing down like a mountain upon the ant-like figures of Zhang Wenda and his allies below.
But just as he was about to stomp, the massive scar in his hand vanished, reappearing beside Zhang Wenda below.
Zhang Wenda raised his right hand again, planting the weapon upright on the ground.
As Qianxi stomped down, the immense force drove the sharp weapon deep into the sole of his foot. A stream of 0s and 1s immediately burst out from the top of his foot.
The Zhang Wenda of today was no longer the child Qianxi could push around at will.
The intense pain caused a pained emoji to flash across Qianxi’s screen.
Then, he felt something strange around his pant cuffs. Looking down, he saw the clowns—balancing on unicycles and juggling colored balls—scrambling up his now-enormous pant legs and disappearing inside.
A moment later, a sharp pain began to radiate from his leg, growing steadily worse.
Realizing that his larger body hadn’t made him stronger but had instead created more vulnerabilities, Qianxi quickly readjusted his parameters and shrank back to his original size.
He immediately switched to a different form of attack, repeatedly clicking on himself to create copies.
A dense army of Qianxis, armed with various cursors, swarmed toward Zhang Wenda. The two sides crashed into each other like raging tides, creating a spray of crimson. The scene was utterly brutal.
However, with the ability to copy himself, Qianxi clearly had the advantage in numbers.
Seeing Qianxi rapidly gaining the upper hand with his superior numbers, the blue rabbit leaned in and whispered something in Zhang Wenda’s ear. Zhang Wenda immediately raised a blue scythe and swung it hard at the Qianxis, tearing open a gateway to Qianxi’s Inner World.
With a sharp whistle from Zhang Wenda, several faceless black dogs came running, WOOF WOOF WOOF, and plunged headfirst through the gate.
The Little Black Cats weren’t idle either. They were busy brewing potions and tossing them through the portal, followed by Zhang Wenda’s massive red scar.
It was obvious that no matter how many copies Qianxi made, they all shared a single Inner World. If a problem arose in that Inner World, every copy of Qianxi would be affected.
It was unclear which of Zhang Wenda’s attacks had been effective, but the fiercely fighting Qianxis suddenly began to falter. Their bodies started to lag, and their screens uncontrollably cycled through different emojis.
Even their cursors, now uncontrolled, fell to the ground, rendered useless.
Seizing the opportunity, Zhang Wenda led his allies in a counteroffensive, smashing through all of Qianxi’s shortcuts as if they were dry twigs.
In an instant, the tables turned. Qianxi’s forces were routed and forced into a steady retreat.
Seeing that things were going wrong in his Inner World, Qianxi quickly clicked on his own brain. In the pop-up window that appeared, he selected “Format.”
When the format process finished, all the changes in Qianxi’s Inner World were reverted to their initial state. But even so, he didn’t dare get too close to Zhang Wenda again.
Gazing at Zhang Wenda in the distance, Qianxi’s expression grew grim and uncertain.
‘This shouldn’t be possible,’ Qianxi thought. ‘How could this kid’s power have increased so much all of a sudden? What did Tan Yougen do to him?’
Even if an ordinary person became a 03, their power shouldn’t have grown this much, even after a period of adaptive training.
As the leader of the Big Circle, he had seen his fair share of 03s, who were exceptionally rare. But Zhang Wenda seemed different from other ordinary 03s. His abilities were stranger, more bizarre.
Generally speaking, even if the manifestation of a 03’s abilities differed, there were still certain patterns.
At the very least, he had never seen a 03 pull out their own Hippocampus to use as an assistant.
Zhang Wenda immediately sensed Qianxi’s apprehension. The once-invincible Qianxi was no longer so unbeatable. ‘Right now, he’s no match for me!’
As a cloud of thought containing this realization rose from Zhang Wenda, the morale of everyone at his side surged. They all charged toward Qianxi, ready for the kill.
