Bloodline System: I Created New Path for Humanity

Chapter 65: Plan (II)

She had simply stayed by his side.

For Cole, that was enough.

She deserved better than merely surviving.

She deserved the chance to live normally again.

That was why Cole had decided to go all out.

Completely isolated from the outside world, Cole sat quietly inside the sealed room and stared at the wooden table before him. Every ingredient he had purchased was neatly arranged across its surface, each one releasing a different magical fragrance that gradually mixed together and filled the small room with a dense medicinal aroma.

Rare herbs lay beside specially processed materials, their surfaces faintly glowing beneath the dim light. Some ingredients occasionally released tiny fluctuations of mana, while others seemed almost alive, gently trembling as though responding to the energy in the surroundings.

Cole’s eyes moved across them one by one.

There was no hesitation in his gaze.

Only deadly seriousness.

This wasn’t an experiment.

He couldn’t afford failure.

Outside the sealed room, the Summers siblings stood in the corridor.

Neither of them looked particularly relaxed.

Ethan leaned against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest, his eyebrows tightly knitted together as he stared at the closed wooden door.

After holding back his thoughts for a long time, he finally couldn’t restrain himself any longer.

"Sister, what do you think he is planning...?"

His voice was filled with suspicion.

"Are you really sure he intends to save that woman?"

Jessica glanced toward him.

Ethan’s doubt wasn’t completely unreasonable.

Ever since they had arrived in Soaring Dragon City, Cole hadn’t behaved like someone desperately searching for the best treatment available.

If he truly wanted to save Trisha, why hadn’t he immediately taken her to one of the city’s renowned spiritual doctors?

Why hadn’t he searched for a powerful healer?

Instead...

He had borrowed a large number of magic stones from Jessica and immediately gone on a buying spree, purchasing a strange collection of ingredients whose purpose Ethan couldn’t understand.

Then he had locked himself inside this room.

To Ethan...

The whole thing was suspicious.

His eyes narrowed slightly as he stared at the sealed door.

"I mean, look at what he did. He didn’t even take her to an alchemist or a spiritual doctor. He just bought a bunch of ingredients and locked himself inside."

His expression became increasingly doubtful.

"Just what exactly is he planning to do in there?"

Jessica also shook her head.

She honestly had no idea what Cole was planning. She couldn’t understand why he had purchased such a strange collection of ingredients or why he had locked himself inside the room instead of immediately seeking out a renowned spiritual doctor.

Still, something deep within her instinctively told her to trust him.

Moreover, even if they really took Trisha to the best spiritual doctor in Soaring Dragon City, Jessica wasn’t convinced they would be able to do much. The injuries covering that woman’s body were simply too severe. At this point, ordinary healing methods might not even be enough to stabilize her, let alone restore her body to its original condition.

Seeing that his elder sister had no intention of saying anything more, Ethan could only shake his head helplessly.

This sister of mine...

Just because that fellow praised her formation skills once, she is actually willing to go this far for him.

The more Ethan thought about it, the more helpless he became.

In the future, I absolutely cannot let anyone praise her.

Otherwise, one day this sister of mine might sell me to someone just because they said a few nice words about her.

Ethan couldn’t help but shake his head again.

Just then, as though he had suddenly remembered something important, his expression changed slightly. He turned toward Jessica, the previous amusement disappearing from his face.

"Sister, did you hear the news...?"

Jessica looked at him.

Before she could respond, Ethan continued in a noticeably worried tone.

"About what happened in Blessed Moon City."

Blessed Moon City and the Summers Family weren’t insignificant powers hidden away in some remote corner of the empire. The battle involving the four Ancient Families had created such a massive disturbance that news of it had already spread throughout nearly every major city of the Divine Brilliance Empire.

By now, even the imperial family had heard about the conflict.

From what Ethan had learned, the Emperor himself was reportedly displeased by the situation.

But honestly...

That wasn’t what concerned Ethan.

His expression became increasingly solemn as he continued.

"What worries me is something else."

"Facing the combined attacks of three Patriarchs... Markovich wasn’t defeated."

Jessica’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Ethan paused for a moment before continuing.

"Not only did he withstand them, but he actually managed to severely injure all three."

His voice became heavier with every word.

To ordinary citizens, this information might merely sound shocking.

But Ethan knew better.

Much better.

The battle hadn’t ended with Markovich being overwhelmed by the three Patriarchs.

According to the information he had received, Markovich had nearly killed them.

If the Royal Family hadn’t intervened at the critical moment, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

After all, each of those Patriarchs was a Rank Three expert of the Sun Knight Realm.

They weren’t merely powerful cultivators.

They were among the empire’s most precious high-level combat forces.

Losing even one of them would have been an enormous blow to the Divine Brilliance Empire, especially because the conflict wasn’t against an external enemy.

They were fighting each other.

The Royal Family naturally couldn’t allow three such powerful experts to die because of an internal conflict between the Ancient Families.

Ethan slowly exhaled.

Thinking about the battle, he couldn’t help but shake his head.

"To think they actually managed to create an enemy of that caliber..."

Ethan’s concerns, however, were not limited to what had happened in Blessed Moon City.

There was another matter weighing heavily on his mind.

The Summers Family’s internal assessment was also approaching its conclusion. If he didn’t manage to return in time, he might completely miss his chance to compete for the position he had been dreaming about for years.

Ethan couldn’t afford that.

Unlike the other major families of the empire, the Summers Family’s internal assessment worked somewhat differently. They didn’t place their primary emphasis on bloodline, cultivation strength, or whether someone was born into a powerful branch of the family.

What they cared about was something much more practical.

Business.

Every year, beginning in August, the younger generation of the Summers Family would participate in a massive internal assessment. The descendants were given the opportunity to expand the family’s businesses and accumulate wealth through their own ability.

At the end of the assessment, the top one hundred descendants who had managed to create the greatest amount of wealth through their business achievements would receive an enormous reward.

More importantly...

Those who entered the top hundred would be promoted to become regional managers of the Summers Family’s stores, gaining authority over branches spread throughout the Divine Brilliance Empire and even beyond its borders.

For someone like Ethan, this wasn’t merely a position.

It was a dream.

He had ambitions of his own and had spent years preparing for this opportunity. He wanted to prove that he wasn’t simply Jessica’s younger brother or another insignificant member of the Summers Family.

He wanted to build something that belonged to him.

Unfortunately...

There was barely one month remaining.

And Ethan wasn’t anywhere close to breaking into the top hundred.

Every day mattered now.

Every day spent away from the assessment was another day his competitors could use to widen the gap between them.

And then...

Cole had appeared.

The moment Ethan thought about everything that had happened since meeting him, his expression couldn’t help but become complicated.

First came the Thunder Domain.

Then the injuries.

Then the Saint Family.

Then the escape.

And now they were sitting in Soaring Dragon City, waiting outside a sealed room while Cole attempted to save an injured woman whose existence had absolutely nothing to do with the Summers Family’s internal assessment.

Ethan knew that even without Cole’s appearance, he wouldn’t necessarily have been able to enter the top hundred.

His performance simply wasn’t good enough yet.

But admitting that was difficult.

So, like any perfectly rational human being faced with the uncomfortable truth that he might be responsible for his own failure, Ethan silently decided to blame Cole for slowing him down.

If it weren’t for this guy...

I would have already returned to the family.

The thought made him feel slightly better.

Not much.

But enough.

Ethan glanced toward the tightly sealed room where Cole was still refining the potion, his expression becoming increasingly complicated.

This bastard had already caused him enough trouble.

And yet...

For some reason, Ethan couldn’t completely bring himself to leave.

He had a feeling that whatever Cole was doing inside that room...

It might actually change the situation in a way none of them expected.

Time continued to pass like flowing water, without anyone realizing it was already late into night, all this time time neither Ethan or Jessica moved an inch.

Just as Ethan was starting to impatient, the door to sealed chamber opened with Cole waking out with a tired expression on his face.

Ethan gaze flew past Cole to land on person behind him.

"No wayyyyy!"

Behind Cole stood perfectly recovered Trisha looking around with a confused look on her face.
