Chapter 354: My Alora is my soul
Alora entered the chamber with a light, joyful bounce in her step, her face lit up with excitement. She was eager to share the news she had just heard, but as soon as she stepped inside, she spotted Magnus lounging on the chaise, his eyes closed, appearing as though he was resting.
Her initial enthusiasm softened into a mischievous smile. Seeing him so relaxed, she couldn’t resist the urge to playfully scare him. Carefully, she moved closer, her footsteps light and deliberate, trying her best to remain silent as she approached him.
Just as she reached his side, thinking she had the upper hand, Magnus’s eyes snapped open, and with lightning reflexes, he reached out, his hand closing around her wrist. In one swift motion, he pulled her down onto the chaise beside him.
A surprised gasp escaped Alora’s lips as she tumbled onto the chaise, landing next to him. Her heart raced from the sudden movement, her earlier plan to scare him now completely forgotten. She looked up at him, wide-eyed, as a playful grin spread across Magnus’s face.
"Did you really think you could sneak up on me, Alora?" Magnus teased, a playful glint in his eyes as he straightened his posture, towering over her with an effortless grace. His voice carried a note of amusement, as if her attempts at stealth had been nothing more than a game to him.
As he leaned closer, the space between them vanished, and his other hand gently brushed away the loose strands of hair that had fallen across her face. The touch was tender, almost electrifying, as his fingers lingered near her temple.
Alora, however, was not easily distracted. "What was the work that kept you so long?" she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity and a hint of concern.
Magnus hesitated for a moment, then replied, "I met Damien."
"And?" Alora’s eyes searched his, seeking the truth beneath his words.
"Nothing," Magnus said, his tone suddenly flat and devoid of the earlier playfulness. "He will be executed tomorrow morning."
Alora narrowed her eyes, sensing there was more to the story. "Don’t hide from me, Magnus. What did you find out?" she pressed, her voice firm and unyielding.
