Chapter 294: We are enemies
"Clearly, you don’t know me yet," Venus said, pulling her hand back. "Just leave," she added firmly.
"The rain is pouring," Odin replied, his voice tinged with frustration. "I don’t want my clothes to get drenched. Changing again is such a hassle." He slumped back into the chair, his gaze drifting to the serene beauty of the rain-soaked green garden.
"Don’t you miss your family?" After a while, Venus asked softly, her tone probing yet gentle.
Odin tilted his head to look at her, a mixture of surprise and irritation in his eyes. "I didn’t expect you to dig into my past," he remarked, his voice was guarded.
"I merely asked a question," Venus responded in her calm voice. "If it bothers you, you don’t have to answer." She now silently prayed for the rain to stop soon so that she could go back inside the house. She didn’t want to sit next to Odin any longer. However, it didn’t appear that the rain would stop anytime soon.
Feeling a growing sense of frustration, Venus stood up and glanced around. Spotting the umbrella, she decided to make her move. Picking it up with a firm grip, she said, "I’m leaving. You can stay here all by yourself. No one will disturb you." Her tone was laced with annoyance.
As Venus stepped outside the gazebo, Odin unexpectedly slipped under the same umbrella. Startled, she tilted her head to look at him and instinctively took a step back. Odin, however, reached out and pulled her closer. "You make me work against my will," he said in a voice low.
"Nobody told you to accompany me," Venus muttered, her tone edged with annoyance. "Aren’t you getting drenched now?" she asked, glancing pointedly at his arm. The side of his overcoat was already speckled with water droplets.
She looked back at him just as he pulled her back into the gazebo. "We aren’t going to the residence now. Let the rain stop and then we will go," he stated, closing the umbrella and letting it rest against the pillar.
