=============================
The chapter begins with the same girl who had met Maeve earlier. She was one of the passengers Adam had saved from the airplane.
She was watching the news and scrolling through social media. Adam's photograph appeared everywhere. Every report was calling him a Supe terrorist.
She had also seen the video of Adam attacking the people inside Vought. Even after watching it, she did not feel anything negative toward him. She believed Adam had done the right thing.
But it still hurt her to see people misunderstand him.
She picked up her phone. She opened the selfie camera and started recording.
"It hurts me to see people calling the man who saved us a Supe terrorist. I was there. I know what happened."
She continued recording and revealed everything she knew. She ignored Adam's warning that they should not speak against Homelander or Vought.
"Homelander left us there to die and deliberately killed the pilot."
"Adam came after that and saved us without asking anything. Homelander was ready to kill us too, but he stopped when he realized Adam was saving us so we could not speak against him."
She uploaded the video.
Within a short time, it went viral. Her video began appearing everywhere. People already knew her because her photographs and interviews had been shown on the news after the airplane incident.
After her video appeared online, the other survivors also started releasing their own videos and interviews. The internet split into two sides.
One side stood against Adam and called the survivors' videos paid promotion or lies. The other side supported Adam and turned against Vought, especially Homelander.
Inside a Vought meeting room, Edgar sat with Homelander. Stormfront and the rest of the Seven were there too.
An assistant played the videos one after another and opened a set of statistics showing the change in public opinion.
"Public perception is moving away from us. Trust in Vought is falling."
Homelander looked toward the screen.
"That girl stayed quiet until now. Why did she suddenly decide to speak?"
Edgar looked at him.
"She remembers you. You kept appearing in public and repeating the same story, giving her another reason to speak."
Stormfront, sitting beside Homelander, looked toward Edgar.
"What difference does it make? We wanted the government to legalize Compound V, and that pressure is working."
Edgar gave a small nod.
"At least that is working in our favor."
Maeve was sitting quietly in the meeting. The task Adam had given her had already begun to work.
Some time earlier, Maeve had sent Adam the CCTV footage from the tower. She had also sent the audio recordings between the security personnel.
Adam received the recordings and gave them to Hughie. Annie was there as well. They listened to selected audio from the security team.
The security team told their senior that an unknown man had landed inside the tower. They believed he was probably a Supe.
Their senior had given permission to kill him without any warning.
Adam smiled when he heard it.
He had also received the report Vought was keeping. It listed blood loss as the clear reason for the deaths. The report also recorded the injuries suffered by the personnel and Supes. It showed which people had been hurt and how serious their injuries were.
Only three people had died, while Adam had injured more than eighty people. Four of the injured were Supes. Three were trainee Supes, and one was Black Noir.
Adam had the information posted online through another account.
As expected, that post also went viral. The side supporting Adam began growing quickly.
Vought still had a powerful network across the internet. It used its money and contacts to release counter-posts against the survivors and Adam. The two sides answered each other, and the online war continued.
Adam watched the growing fight and released a slow breath.
"Power does not decide an online fight. Contacts do. Vought has enough of them, and they have more money than anyone else."
He had only needed to create a little support around himself. The survivors and the report had made that much easier.
Adam had not expected the survivors to speak for him on their own.
