The Tower's Last Chronicle

Survival(1)

The moment the blue barrier shattered, the jungle changed.

It did not simply become dangerous.

It became alive with violence.

The treeline exploded with movement.

Massive shadowed figures rushed out of the darkness, shaking the ground with their roar.

One of them broke ahead of the pack.

A wolf-like monster.

Tall as a man.

Covered in matted black fur.

Eyes glowing deep crimson.

It leapt straight at Seo Jun.

Its jaws opened wide.

Jagged yellow teeth.

Thick saliva dripping down like poison.

Behind him, the crowd broke instantly.

Panic spread like wildfire.

Shouts erupted from every direction.

Faces turned pale.

People backed away instinctively, desperate to put distance between themselves and the monster before them.

Seo Jun did not react emotionally.

He simply watched.

In his past life, he had fought beings that destroyed continents.

This creature was nothing.

But his body was different now.

His stats regressed to a beginner level.

Only a trained human frame.

So he could not brute force it.

He had to be precise.

His mind activated instantly.

[Archive of the Fallen Epoch]

A technique surfaced in perfect clarity.

Flowing Stream Sword Art, a simple yet elegant art and can be executed at current level without recoil.

✦ ✦ ✦

[Flowing Stream Sword Art]

Rank : Normal

Level : Max

Description:

A foundational sword art centered on fluidity and precision. The blade moves like flowing water, reducing resistance and enhancing cutting efficiency. Mastery allows the user to chain attacks together without disrupting momentum, increasing the lethality of successive strikes.

✦ ✦ ✦

Maybe because of past memories and mastery over it the current level is max. It is beneficial.

Seo Jun adjusted his stance.

One step back with the center of gravity lowered and breathing steady.

He did not block.

Blocking is not a good option, since I need to fight a lot.

Instead, he moved forward diagonally.

Just slightly with perfect timing.

The wolf passed him in mid-air.

Its momentum carried it forward helplessly.

Seo Jun turned his hips.

And struck.

A clean, sweeping arc of iron.

The blade cut through the wolf's unprotected underside, the neck.

Soft tissue split instantly.

No resistance. It cuts with a perfect angle.

The monster cried out.

A broken, gurgling sound.

It hit the ground hard.

Twitched twice.

Then stopped moving.

A blue system window appeared.

[You have slain a Shadow Wolf]

Seo Jun didn't even glance at it.

He flicked the blood off his blade.

He was calm and the method he used was efficient.

Then he turned.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Ha Neul was frozen. Hands trembling.

Eyes locked on the dead creature.

Unable to process what she had just seen.

"Don't freeze," Seo Jun said sharply.

His voice was controlled.

But firm.

"Blood will attract more."

"We move now."

He grabbed her sleeve.

And pulled her into motion.

The open clearing was already becoming dangerous.

Too many people, too much noise and too much fear.

In a jungle like this, panic was a signal.

And signals attracted death.

Seo Jun led her into the dense foliage.

Branches scratched past them.

Wet leaves brushed their arms.

The ground turned uneven.

Three more Shadow Wolves appeared.

The first lunged.

Seo Jun stepped aside.

A clean sidestep.

No wasted motion.

Then he cut the tendons behind its leg.

It collapsed mid-run.

The second attacked from the side.

Seo Jun twisted his body.

The jaws snapped past his face.

Barely missing.

He drove his blade upward.

Straight through the eye.

Deep into the skull.

It was an instant kill.

[You have slain a Shadow Wolf]×2

The third rushed in.

But Ha Neul reacted.

She raised her wand.

A burst of raw mana exploded outward.

It was not refined, not controlled but strong enough.

The beast was thrown back into a tree.

Its body slammed against the bark and dropped. She got her first kill.

They did not stop.

They moved deeper into the forest.

The screams behind them faded.

Becoming distant.

Eventually, Seo Jun stopped.

A rocky outcrop, slightly elevated and surrounded by thorn-covered bushes.

Natural defense on all sides.

He looked around once.

Then nodded.

"We rest here for a moment."

He leaned against the stone. Eyes still scanning the forest. Never fully relaxing.

"You did well," he said.

"That blast was timed correctly."

Ha Neul collapsed immediately.

Dropping to her knees. Hands shaking violently.

She buried her face and tried to breathe.

"I thought we were going to die," she whispered.

"That wolf was too fast…"

Then she looked at him. Really looked.

"You weren't the same, Seo Jun."

"I've watched you for five years."

"But that wasn't academy swordsmanship."

Seo Jun didn't react strongly.

He simply answered.

"The academy teaches control. The jungle teaches survival."

He paused. Then softened his tone.

"Look at me."

Ha Neul slowly lifted her head.

"Open your status window."

His voice was calm again yet guiding.

"We need to understand your foundation."

"The system gives every awakened person a trait."

Ha Neul nodded and obeyed.

A blue screen appeared. Floating in front of her.

She explained the stats, characteristic and skill to Seo Jun. He stayed silent for a moment, processing everything she had said.

Her body stats were average.

Explained her exhaustion.

But her mana was exceptional.

Fifteen at level one.

Seo Jun's expression softened slightly. A rare moment of satisfaction.

"Do you understand what this means?" he asked quietly.

"You have almost double mana compared to average."

"You're not average, Ha Neul. You're a prodigy. You have potential to become an archmage."

Ha Neul stared at her status window, cheeks faintly red.

"I still don't understand it properly," she admitted.

"When I used that blast… it felt like something inside my chest was bucking wildly."

"It hurt my ribs. My hands are still numb."

"I have power," she said quietly.

"But I don't know how to use it without hurting myself."

Seo Jun stepped closer. Then knelt in front of her.

In his previous life, he had walked beside archmages and learned about magic from them.

He understood mana more deeply than most humans ever would.

"Pick up your wand," Seo Jun said.

His voice was quiet, yet carried an authority that left no room for hesitation.

Ha Neul obeyed. Her fingers curled around the polished wood, the familiar weight settling into her palm.

Seo Jun watched her for a moment before speaking.

"The Academy teaches mana as something to command." He paused. "Something to bend until it obeys."

His gaze remained fixed on the wand.

"That's why they're wrong."

Ha Neul looked up.

"...Wrong?"

He gave a faint nod.

"The moment you try to dominate mana, it pushes back."

His tone was calm, almost detached, as if he were stating an undeniable law.

"That resistance is what tears at your body. The pain in your ribs. The strain in your circuits. You're not fighting mana."

A brief silence followed.

"You're fighting yourself."

Her brows slowly knitted together.

"Then... how am I supposed to cast?"

Seo Jun stepped closer.

"So close she could hear the steady rhythm of his breathing."

"You don't force the current."

His voice softened.

"You let it carry you."

"Close your eyes."

She did.

Seo Jun raised two fingers and gently touched the space just beneath her collarbone.

The point where her mana naturally converged.

His touch was light.

Barely there.

Yet somehow, it grounded her racing thoughts.

"Mana isn't something to conquer."

"It responds to harmony."

His voice flowed as steadily as a quiet stream.

"Imagine a lake."

"For every doubt..."

A light tap.

"...every fear..."

Another.

"...every desperate attempt to seize control..."

One last touch.

"...you throw another stone into its surface."

"The water can never become still."

Ha Neul unconsciously slowed her breathing.

"Now feel your mana."

"Don't drag it."

"Don't chain it."

"Simply acknowledge it."

"It already knows where it wants to go."

A slow breath filled her lungs.

The stiffness in her shoulders eased.

The tightness around her chest unraveled.

"Good."

"Now exhale."

"Open the path."

"Nothing more."

"Let it flow."

"From your heart..."

"...through your arm..."

"...into your wand."

Ha Neul released her breath.

This time...

Mana answered.

Not with resistance.

Not with violence.

It flowed.

Smooth.

Natural.

Like moonlight gliding across still water.

A soft blue glow blossomed at the tip of her wand.

The sphere that formed was perfectly round.

Stable.

Silent.

Beautiful.

No trembling.

No violent surge.

No stabbing pain ripping through her ribs.

Only warmth.

A gentle current that moved as naturally as breathing itself.

Her eyes flew open.

"...It doesn't hurt."

Disbelief trembled in her voice.

"It feels..."

She looked at the light dancing above her wand.

"...warm."

Seo Jun straightened.

"Because you finally stopped treating mana like an enemy."

His gaze rested on the glowing sphere.

"You've spent your whole life trying to make it obey."

A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

"But your trait is Emissary of the Arcane."

"You were never meant to rule magic."

"You were meant to understand it."

His eyes met hers.

"And once it realized you were finally listening..."

The blue light shimmered softly.

"...it answered."

Before she could respond, the jungle screamed.

Human screams.

Followed by heavy impacts.

Like something massive was charging through the forest.
