Naruto: A Lazy Life

Pov: Takumi Uchiha.

October 10th.

A pleasant night- not too cold, but it could be warmer.

Clear skies, minimal clouds- a sky bearing many glowing fruits to brighten that endless expanse of darkness.

A small breeze and the steady night sounds to whisk many to sleep.

...

For many, they will sleep through this night with barely a mote of unrest, seamlessly dreaming the night away until dawn rises once more.

For the citizens of Konohagakure however, they will recall this night for a long, long time.

*BOOOM*

My house is destroyed alongside the neighbourhood it rests in- as a giant orange tail flickers across the streets indiscriminately, such casual destruction occurs with eight other tails... and the fox those tails are attached to.

'{If only you had been sleeping in your house, I would have had this body before you could wake up}'

It is fortunate I decided to sleep on this tree, not only was it strangely comfortable- I escaped certain death without resistance.

I jump down to the street and look around- many civilians are rushing to safety, before I can assist however a masked Shinobi flickers in front of me.

"Takumi Uchiha- You are both a young shinobi and Uchiha, both are to be escorted away from Konoha for safety. Do not resist" The Shinobi states.

Anbu- personal dogs of the Hokage, this is his order- to keep the youth of Konoha away from certain death and...

... The Uchiha? Protecting the clans? Ridiculous.

"You know how painful I can be to convince I am sure. Read a file on me?" I raise my chin and question him.

"Please do not resist" The Shinobi speaks up again.

"Don't be a fool- go find another to bother, it is in my contract to protect this place as an active defender" I wave my hand and walk past him.

To his credit- he backs off with a sigh and flickers away.

-*Wooosh!*

"HELP!" A woman calls out from a nearby building pointing to the second floor, lower half in shambles as the second floor starts to lean.

I rush past a worried woman and leap up the wall- kicking open the window and glancing inside... I see a father holding his child, unable to descend the broken staircase.

"Over here" I command.

The man doesn't hesitate and rushes over to me, handing over his daughter.

I grab the child and descend with them- giving her over to the woman before retrieving the man.

"Thank-" They yell but I ignore them. Intent on heading to the next civilian in need.

My mind shuts off and I check on every building I can as I make my way further into Konoha.

*Swiiiish*

"Captain- Wait- Captain!" Saburo calls to me, slowing down to match my pace.

"-Aren't you meant to be with the Uchiha clan? Or with Yu?" He gasps out, carrying a child in each arm.

"No time to question- go get Yu and use him to guide you, you are going too slow. Station Yu on the Academy roof, you two can do some decisive rescue work" I state.

"Uhh- he is-"

*BOooooom!!*

"-Outside Konoha, alongside all the younger Shinobi" Saburo winces as a nearby tail wipes out another street.

"No time for talking Saburo. This is a mission- And I am ordering you to save as many lives as possible. To do that, you need Yu to guide your speed" I state and wave him off.

"Arrhhh- fine, okay- the Anbu are too busy to watch Yu carefully anyway" Saburo grunts and vanishes in a blur.

*Woooosh!*

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRR!!!

Dust picks up- the roar of the giant fox echo's across the village as I enter into the rubble, where many dead scatter across the ground and many living try to crawl to safety.

"Help!" "MAAAAAAAMMAAAA!!!!" "HELP US!" "WHAT THE FU-" "HELP!" "PAPA!" "SOMEONE SAVE HIM!!!" "HELP THEM- THEY ARE STUCK!!" - A chorus of screams litter the rubble, many civilians trying to save their friends and family.

Luckily veteran Shinobi and Kunoichi are on the scene- making everything easier.

I rush to the side of a teenager... who keeps digging into the dirt.

"Is someone under that?" I ask and sharpen my hand- creating claws of precise chakra.

"M-My- she is-" He cries and hyperventilates.

"Calm yourself. Take slow deliberate breaths" I state and start digging up the rubble... eventually finding a cold hand.

"She is lost- you can recover the corpse later, get yourself to safety" I stop digging and order.

"No- NO! She, She can't..." His eyes widen in distraught.

He slowly raises his head to look at the fox, crying to himself.

I rush to the next civilian- not asking questions and immediately digging.

*Crack- Wooosh!*

I pull a heavily injured man from the rubble, broken beyond repair and hand them over to two willing civilians to carry away.

A son.

A daughter.

A father.

A mother.

A friend.

A grandfather.

A grandaughter.

...

Ritsu Uchiha- My blacksmithing teacher, dead amongst some other bodies... keeping two lives safe as a shield.

One by one... I save as many as I can.

"INCOMING- EVACUATE!" A shinobi calls and I look above, hands covered in dirt and grime... a little blood.

A tail rushes forward- the ninja grab as many as they can before dashing away... but it is not nearly enough.

dozens... no, this was a large neighbourhood- there is hundreds of people here without a way to protect themselves nor escape in time, let alone leaving those below the debris to certain death if they have not perished already.

*Clench-*

"GET TO THE GROUND- FLAT ON YOUR STOMACHS!" I give an order and most follow- my eyes immediately dart to a woman stuck in an upright position... arm trapped between two pieces of rubble and some wooden beams.

*Dash-*

"Shut your eyes" I dash in front of her and command.

Holding my hands out- mere moments from impact, I stand completely still.

The tails end whips at us- I am barely faster than this casual swing of a foxes tail... this beast is something else entirely.

My arms extend- stiffen- palms touching the warm fur... as I feel the house breaking impact shatter through my body. I do not grit my teeth, as that would be far too much movement.

*Boooom!*

My technique can reroute the impact- it is strong, but I am merely the curve of a river, guiding the stream to someplace else. I do not need to be a dam.

*WOOOOSH!*

The tail flickers to the sky, redirected away from this chaos.

I fly backwards and scatter across the ground- shaking as I stand once more.

"KEEP ON YOUR TOES- LIVE AND BREATHE! DON'T LET DEATH KEEP YOU DOWN!" I Call out with all my might and rush over to the lady who was stuck.

"T-Thank you" She sniffles.

*Bam!*

I pry her hand free and the wooden beams topple over.

"Nonsense- this is my duty" I click my tongue and rush over to the next.

And the next- and the next-

*booooooom!*

The distant destruction aches my heart- no one else knows my impact redirection, no one else can save them.

This has never happened to me before... I could always handle the threats.

Who cared if it cost me rest and a life. They could keep theirs.

...

Shameful.

"Kid! It's coming back!" A kunoichi yells.

I feel many stares rattle off my back, and I raise my hand- giving them an ok to keep saving.

I must do what I can.

*Wooooosh- BAM!*

The tail is deflected again- my back slams into a house with only one standing wall... which topples over alongside me.

My left arm shakes... I can feel it at the breaking point... unable to continue.

*Wooooosh-BAM!*

But it must- for I will it.

The tail comes back- again- and again.

Dozens of deflections... hundreds of lives.

"TWO- Can you handle that!?" Someone screams behind me.

Two tails flicker near me- no- targeting me?

One is attacking from above, while the other is swiping from the side.

I raise my hand.

The ninja keep saving.

*BAM! BAM!*

The tails deflect upwards once... again...

I feel free and weightless for a few moments- as I soar past a few shinobi.

My left arm refuses to move, limply hanging from my torso.

*Crash!*

And I crash into more rubble.

...

"You can't keep doing this- we have everyone, let's fully evacuate" A kunoichi rushes over and handles some basic medical jutsu as I stand up.

"What about those below?" I ask.

"We can save them later- after that thing is beaten" She states.

"They will perish under a few more attacks" I state back.

"Life is harsh- we saved all we could, best help more than get stuck on the few... you are more useful elsewhere" She tells me.

...

"You are right" I nod and begin to move.

"EVERYONE- OUT! EVACUATE THE AREA AND MOVE TO AID THE OTHER SITES!" I scream over the area and everyone follows my order.

*Wooooosh-*

Again? I can do this again.

Hn.

I dash behind the fleeing crowd and raise my singular hand.

*WHOO-*

I feel the fur once more... knowing that without my left hand I would be unable to deflect this attack. But I am much more efficient with returning the attack back into a more familiar shape. Something... Sharp yet definitely more noticeable- the Fox will care about this more than any deflection could ever do.

*WHA-SLICE!!!!*

The tail is cleanly cut using it's own impact- my heart burns in pain as my right arm violently shakes.

the tails tip seems to crash just behind me and free from the gathered souls as the rest of the tail misses the crowd, lacking that extra reach.

BAM

RRROOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

A giant claw digs besides my position- as the foxes head roars, before flickering in front of me- giant maw filled with teeth and malice.

Fast. And powerful.

I seem to have annoyed it... no- is that the Sharingan reflected in it's eyes? That explains the Uchiha being escorted away...

'{Blink and you die. Brilliant!}' The inner speedster mocks.

"Hel~p~!" A small voice calls out... from the rubble beneath the chin of the Fox.

Pov: Yu Hyuga.

"What are you doing here! Get out of town now!" A shinobi flickers behind me- but I spare no glance as I use the entirety of my Byakugans prowess to focus on Saburo and those that need saving.

*Wooooooooooooooooooooooosh-*

The speeds he can reach are ridiculous... I flick my hands into dozens of signs- sending chakra signals for Saburo to follow.

He twists past rubble- through broken buildings and carrying dozens of people on his back, before dropping them into the arms of an Akimichi who can help them safely slow down to a full stop as Saburo rushes out again.

"I am- guiding Saburo- I can see who needs to be saved, and sign to him the directions he needs to take" I explain- slowly as I focus.

"Saburo- That speeding shinobi? The signs... I see" The shinobi mutters to himself.

I flick my hands into many more signs- guiding Saburo to save a family of three, picking up a mailman on the way out.

"Let me help- I will identify civilians and wounded... and... here, connect to this Yamanaka network" The shinobi taps my shoulder and I hear a voice enter my mind.

'Yu Hyuga- I am connecting a direct link to Masaru Hyuga' A voice calls to me- hurriedly speaking before vanishing.

My mind is invaded with information- on survivors and those in need of saving.

My nose bleeds a little... as I confirm this information and overuse my Brakugan.

I focus down even more- one path- ignoring the locations as they are now given to me... letting me focus entirely on Saburo instead.

*Flick- Woosh- Whisk-*

*BVV-WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-*

Saburo loudly slides across the streets- faster- and faster! becoming inhumanly fast!! Almost as fast as the Yellow Flash!

'Yu Hyuga- Connecting you to several Hyuga minds, prepare to guide Saburo' The voice comes back immediately after Saburo runs out of people to save in the general area.

*Click!*

My mind clicks- as if setting into the place.

Information on many other survivors- much- much more survivors... all around Konoha, not just here.

"I am moving you to the Hokage building rooftop- keep signing" Masaru carries me and my brain nearly burns up with the new information assaulting me.

Luckily, I am much more proficient with a hot head.

*Clench!*

I clench my jaw and grind my teeth as I move my hands faster- and faster- planning steps a whole 28 seconds before they are even taken!

Pov: Hiruzen Sarutobi.

"-Where is it going!?- Anbu! follow me!" I order and leap off the roof, flickering into the destruction.

Takumi!!!!???

I watch as a tail flicks in his direction- I hold my staff tightly and rush faster- further! QUICKER!!!

*WHA-SLICE!*

The tails end is cut off- discarded behind the boy...

Haaaa-

You are going to give me a heart attack Takumi!

*BOOOM!*

RRROOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

The Fox roars out- eyes flickering to Takumi's position.

Damned fox- Pay attention to someone else!

The fox lowers his head to the ground- opening his mouth and glaring at the source of pain... just a few seconds and I will be there. Just a few seconds...

Takumi stands silently- seemingly stunned by the beast, tremendous and powerful... leaking malicious terror from it's very glare.

"Hel~p~!" A weak voice calls- placed under the foxes head.

I- I am sorry child... forgive me for being unable to save you-

*woosh-*

Between Boy and Fox- the Boy leaps first.

Rushing straight into the teeth of the beast- suicidal- I would have assumed so if it was not Takumi who had leapt into the jaws of the Nine tails.

*Whooooo-*

Just as I land near his last position- I am forced to catch a wounded and thrown child, as the jaws of the beast close.

CHOMP

...

I pass the child over- scowling as I lower my staff and tighten my grip.

I am sorry Takumi. I should have been faster.

*Fwiiiii-*

The staff begins to extend- growing infinitely longer as I press it's ever extending end into the chest of the Nine tailed beast.
