Naruto: A Lazy Life

Team Takumi (2)

-One Month Later-

Pov: Takumi Uchiha.

"This the place?" Saburo asks Yu.

"It's where we were told to gather" Yu replies.

"They are late- Keeping us on our toes?" Saburo asks anothe question.

The Hyuga have formally requested Yu quit team Takumi- The Hokage told me that I had to handle this if I wanted full control over my teams operations.

The Hyuga clan told me they would negotiate here- in this stadium, they must use this for the Chunin exams or big public fights... from what it looks like now it is being used to prove our team is a failure, perhaps a combat test. Easy and simple.

"We are not late, you are early" A voice resounds behind us.

We all turn to see multiple clan ninja, a few dozen of them flicker to the seats above as three remain below.

"Apologies for my rudeness- I did not mean to offend" Saburo bows and the oldest Hyuga smiles.

"Yu. Your patriarch is here- did you forget your manners?" The Elder Hyuga sternly commands.

Yu turns to one of the men who flickered to the stadium seats and bows formally.

"I assume the Uchiha has no manners?" The Elder Hyuga smirks, insulting me.

"You would be correct- I see the Hyuga have exceptional insight" I state sarcastically, before yawning.

The Elder frowns and folds his arms behind his back. As he does so the stadiums around us start to fill with more and more individuals, Elders from various clans, patriarchs and powerful ninja that you can recognise immediately upon glance... The Uchiha clan head is here as well.

"I have heard you wished to keep your team? The Hokage has graciously given you the opportunity to prove yourselves- you claim that your team is very capable of handling themselves outside of Konoha despite their obvious flaws, I am here to disprove that fact and disband your team" The Elder announces.

"You will fight to prove yourselves- easy, right?" The Elder asks.

"Very easy, skips the talking part and heads straight to the part where we have fun" Saburo smiles, to which the Elder ignores.

"We will have your Saburo Mori fight this Hyuga Jonin, he should be capable of beating him if he wishes to go on A-rank missions correct?" The Elder states.

"Hn. Sounds acceptable" I nod.

"Then you may head up to one of the competitor balconies- Saburo Mori can stay" The Elder gestures to the side of the wall, and walks away with one of his Shinobi.

"Is this why you gave us that hellish training this past month? My body still hurts from it..." Saburo asks me, Yu glances at me.

"I only found out about this a week ago- I merely wished to train you better" I answer.

...

"Good luck Mori" Yu states and heads off to the balcony, following after me.

Pov: Daigo Hyuga.

I am a talented Shinobi- who fought through the last great shinobi war.

I have become the disciple of Ken Hyuga, the Strongest Elder of the Hyuga clan- who has renown from his earlier days and had an excellent performance during the war. He has trained me well... I may be young but I have reached the level of Jonin at the age of 24, my power has been praised and my talent even more so.

I have trained my entire life for the clan- and under Ken-Sensei I have mastered all that I was given... my taijutsu is some of the most precise and fast of the current Hyuga Jonin.

So why was it... that when I was given the opportunity to perform in front of the most powerful individuals within the village, that I got stuck with the nobody? All I know on this Saburo is that he participated on missions with the 'Lazy' Uchiha... and that he was okay at working in the hospital, which isn't the most exhilarating reputation.

"I will be the judge over this match- my word is law, I will not accept backlash or complaints over my final decision. Do you all understand?" The Judge asks us.

We both shake our heads.

"You can back out if you wish" I sigh and tell Saburo.

I don't want to humiliate the guy.

"Sorry, Captains orders- if you want to get out of this, you have to surrender"

...

Arrogant fool.

---

Pov: Ken Hyuga.

"Are you ready for your match?" I ask my first Disciple.

"Of course, Master" He replies swiftly.

...

"You do know what must be done right? Be ready, this battle will be over with swiftly" I close my eyes.

"Saburo Mori Vs Daigo Hyuga! START!" The announcer begins the match.

"Is it right to do this- at the very least we should give Yu a chance" My Disciple questions.

I turn to him and smile.

"This is more than some team Masaru- it is a powerplay from the Uchiha clan, we need to ensure the balance between the clans is even. The Hokage may be allowing this due to the 'Captains' close relation with two of his previous team members... it is up to us to help our lord fourth make these hard decisions. I know I would struggle to not favour Daigo if you and Masami died..." I sigh and pat his shoulder.

I look below at the match- Daigo seems to have stayed in place, watching the other Shinobi slowly circle him around the arena...

"That Saburo Mori is quite slow" Masaru states.

"Exactly why he needs a proper team- he will waste away in this one, a child is not fit to train someone- no matter how talented" I reply.

"I see... we are helping them get better positions in the Village then. I understand" Masaru nods.

Good.

Pov: Kakashi Hatake.

I thought this team was disbanding. How did it turn into this? Who advertised this? Why? So many unanswered questions...

"Yo- Kakashi! It seems you were interested in this team duel as well!" Gai appears next to me... with Asuma and Kurenai.

"Mhm" I make an agreeable sound and pocket my hands.

"Who do you think is gonna win?" Kurenai asks the group.

"Daigo is a talented Jonin- I was on a mission with him once, I can't necessarily see him lose..." Asuma states.

...

"My vote is for Saburo! GO SABURO! YOU GOT THIS!!!" Gai chants out.

"Why him? He looks so slow- I thought he was the fast one or something similar?" Kurenai questions.

He is the fast one- he regularly trains in my spot... his initial acceleration is getting close to that of a bullet jutsu... which is insanely fast, his top speed turns him into a blur- Recently... he and Takumi vanished from Konoha, I thought they disbanded and went separate ways... did he somehow get slower in that time? Impossible...

Even Minato-Sensei praised his speed. A compliment from the Yellow flash in regards to speed is... some of the best recognition you can get.

"Oh? Can't you see the effort pouring through his muscles?" Gai asks back.

"Effort? Muscles?" Asuma raises an eyebrow.

"He trains as much as me..." Gai smiles brightly and Asuma widens his eyes.

Maito Gai- a man of pure effort has praised this shinobi as well.

So what is he doing?

"What about you Kakashi- who are you betting on?" Kurenai asks.

"Saburo Mori. If I didn't know his move-set I would lose as well" I comment.

...

"Saburo Mori huh..." Kurenai looks back down.

---

Pov: Fugaku Uchiha.

"What is he doing?" An Uchiha Elder winces.

"This opportunity could do wonders for the Uchiha... why did I get my hopes up for the Laziest of us all..." Another grumbles.

"He is... storing his speed? No- building it up..." Itachi mutters to himself.

"Speak up Itachi" I ask of my son.

...

"I think he is building up speed in his upper torso- generating momentum that transfers to the chakra lingering in his upper half, you can see the steam building up around him- red skin as heat is generated and his body shaking... it makes him look like he is shivering but it all connects if you know Saburo's technique" Itachi reports.

...?

"Insightful" I lean forward.

And correct.

"So he is doing something? I though the Lazy Uchiha just slacked off in his training..." The Elder next to me sighs in relief.

Circling the arena... and cycling the chakra in his feet as he moves- when that chakra speeds up he shoots it upwards to his body. What a strange technique, does Takumi ever make anything normal?

---

Pov: Saburo Mori.

Like a gentle pond leaking into a raging river- my chakra is slow and steady at the bottom of my feet, before shooting up into a rushing and raging river.

My body is aching- my muscles hurt... but I like this technique- I needed to get more powerful when fighting the truly strong ninja instead of picking off the weaker ones... this technique will bridge that gap, Takumi said it would.

My feet hurt... my body hurts... my heart is pumping and I am ready to vacation for a week.

But this stage... is an opportunity to finally prove myself to this village- to live out my dream! I will not waste it! Not one bit!

"Should I come to you? Are you that scared to approach... you poor thing, you are shivering" The Shinobi seems to actually feel bad for me.

"You let your target prepare for such a long time- and your insulting me?" I ask in exasperation, steam leaking from my mouth as I release a breath.

Apparently Takumi made a deal with that Speedster in his head to help make this Jutsu- Why is he underestimating me? Can he not see the foe before him? The ability I have? The effort I put into my skills? Is he... Stupid?

...

Daigo Hyuga- steps forward, making his way to me- treating me like nothing by lowering his defences and casually approaching.

"Tch- I should punish you for your stupid action... but it feels wrong to do so- Let me warn you then!" I pull my shaking arms back and take another deep breath as my entire body vibrates.

He genuinely lets out a laugh- a small humiliating laugh that makes me angry- makes me want to end this right now- I could! I should! But... I cannot. I have a dream to fulfil- and that is to be recognised, I will not be recognised for my ability by hitting a man while he is letting his guard down.

*BOOOOM!!!!!*

A loud shockwave travels from where I was- Pushing the unexpected Hyuga with intense speed.

*CRASH!*

He barely gets his chakra flowing to protect himself in time- as he slams into the wall on the opposite side of the arena and crumbles out of it.

...

"Saburo Mori! Winn-"

"Stop- I am not done, he did not take me seriously and I wish for a rematch!" I yell over the announcer.

"Ah- well..."

"I am sorry- I did not realise the strength you held... I will happily take that rematch" Daigo stands up and dusts himself off.

"Very well- START ROUND TWO!!" The announcer states again.

*Wooosh!*

I lost my speed... all that I just built up- But I wouldn't be able to build up that much speed in a real fight... I think I broke my arm actually, that was clearly too fast- I should release it sooner in battle. Less loud, more precise... this technique could improve my joust by a mile or more.

I slide in front of the Hyuga and begin dodging his attacks- quick sliding around his body, like Takumi taught me- like Yu helped me train.

*Swish- Swoosh- Woosh!*

"Not even one attack is getting through? I truly did underestimate you" Daigo grimaces to himself.

*Swish*

"Don't worry... I have an unfair advantage in this match- so even if you lose no one would care that much" I Laugh loudly and proudly, surely having multiple heads turn in the audience.

"Advantage? What advantage?" He questions back as he lunges forward and tries to jab my side.

I swiftly turn my body and raise my head in the most glorious pose I can muster.

"Is it not obvious?" I ask loudly again.

*Whaaaa-*

He jabs four times in succession- each one I weave away from with ease. Still holding my head high.

"Not really- you're fast for sure, but that cannot be all" Daigo states.

"Of course not! Think of the biggest advantage I have against you- it's very simple..." I chuckle.

He frowns.

The crowd tilt their heads.

Takumi sighs and closes his eyes.

"My Master is Takumi Uchiha of course!!!!!!" I shout and slide forward- face inches from his as he is mid jab.

My smile stretches wide and my white teeth shine brilliantly in the sun as my windswept hair flows elegantly.

*Poke*

I poke his chest... digging deep... before weaving backwards and throwing my arms wide.

"I didn't want to scalpel you- no need to send you to my old workplace" I hold up my hand and flicker the scalpel on and off- to signify my ability to use the jutsu without hand signs.

...

"Saburo Mori... WINS!!" The announcer calls out and claps resound through the stadium.

I didn't even have to use my most flashy moves... Takumi was right, my foundations are my greatest ally with these forms. Speed over Jutsu.

Through the claps and some cheers I look over to the balcony... and see Yu smiling at me with a casual head nod- and Takumi speaks, unable to hear him I have to read his lips.

'{Congratulations Young Knight}'

I cannot help but smile.
