Naruto: A Lazy Life

Saburo Mori (4)

-Four months later-

Pov: Fugaku Uchiha.

*Knock* *Knock*

"Enter" I command.

...

"Sir- the Hokage is summoning you" An Uchiha bows before me.

"Very well, today is quiet anyway" I get up and sort my notes before leaving.

I leave the police headquaters and make my way over to the Hokage buidling- where I see the Hokage and Danzo standing on the roof.

*Flicker*

"You summoned me?" I lightly bow.

"Fugaku. Danzo just found a spy we can feed false information to, they are targeting Takumi... who seems to have had an identity leak recently" The Hokage tells me.

"We are giving him a nickname?" I question.

"Yes, a reputation. From what we know they are already attributing him to many Anbu mission's throughout the year- we can keep the Anbu more hidden and raise his reputation, we stand to lose nothing through this spy" The Hokage explains.

"It does not hurt to turn a dissapointment of Konoha into a hidden monster. It is true after all" Danzo notes.

In some ways it is true...

"So I am here to give permission to your plans with Takumi?" I ask.

"Yes- and of course seek your opinions on the matter" The Hokage confirms.

"Then I have another idea. Is the truth not better to distribute then lies?" I offer.

"The truth?" Danzo raises a brow.

"That he is the Lazy Uchiha. Who doesn't take on missions unless pushed to- who sits at home all day because he doesn't want to train at all" I keep speaking.

"Go on..." The Hokage catches onto my idea.

"The most talented shinobi alive. Takumi Uchiha- the Lazy Uchiha, who sees through all taijutsu and refused to be promoted because it was too much work. The only shinobi in Konoha with a %100 mission success rate, no matter the mission rank" I list his achievements.

"He goes on one mission a year, most genin out of the Academy have a %100 mission success rate due to not going on that many missions" Danzo frowns.

"But the missions he goes on are top-rank or classified" I reply.

...

"You wish to push this narrative because his existence 'officially' on any documents is bare bones and will cause any spies to fill in the holes with their own ideas" Danzo nods.

"Very well- Danzo if you would please handle that" The Hokage orders.

"Leave it to me" Danzo smirks and walks away.

"Now Fugaku, I have another matter to talk to you about..."

Pov: Takumi

*Wipe* *Clack*

I place the small whetstone back onto the shelf after whiping it- before stepping back and examining the shelves.

Hn. Excellent work as always.

I step back around the counter and place the cleaning supplies under the counter before removing my gloves and hanging them up.

I then pull open one of my books and begin reading it- this time it is a generel overveiw of the seven swordsmen of the mist and all their mysterious appearances over time.

These swords are quite unique- I would not mind using them in battle.

Kiba the twin swords- supposedly the sharpest swords in the world, these ones are definitely my favroute of the few, practical and sharp.

Nuibari is the needle sword- I could use that one very well, if given the chance.

Kubikiribōchō is capable of regeneration through blood, meaning I could fight for days and not need to replace my main weapon. Desirable.

Hiramekarei, a bit too distinct for my taste- although I can use it as brilliantly as the others I might drop it in favour for just having three swords, two smaller blades and then a large one. I could use a form based around quick switches, stemming from its ability to store chakra and become two swords?

Shibuki the blast sword. This sword would certainly enhance my Takumi Uchiha style to it's limits, a blade that dabbles in explosive force is quite the pair to my jutsu.

Samehada- I feel like I have to put extra work into cutting someone when all the spikes are pointed to the handle, but it's unique ability is not to be overlooked. Perhaps the spikes change direction?

Kabutowari. I dislike this 'blade' the most, if giant axe cannot peirce armour then you should stick to using something else, using a hammer to bring it down harder? It is undesirable, I would be inclined to remove the hammer and focus on the axe if I were to wield it.

But if I was forced to use the hammer than I suppose I would naturally master it with ease.

It isn't a sword at all actually- why is it part of the seven swords? Was it a mistranslation?

*Ding*

I put down the book and yawn as Saburo Mori enters the store.

"Hardly working?" Saburo smiles and walks over to the counter.

"As usual" I nod resolutely.

Hn.

"So- I did it..." Saburo taps the counter happily.

Hn?

"I think I mastered my technique" He smiles wider.

"Do not spare detail, tell me about it" I command.

"Last mission I our team was confronted by an ambush on all sides- our captain was injured and we needed an escape route... I didn't know how it happened but it felt like time slowed down and my heart stopped for a second- I watched a kunai pass by my head and the looked to the four shinobi blocking my path... I don't know how to describe it..." Saburo fiddles with his hands.

"You felt in control, despite the circumstances" I answer.

"Yes! Exactly, the enemies weren't lined up at all- but I felt like they were, if I just slid along a little line guided by instinct I would be able to beat them all... so I threw my last hooked rod- hit it perfectly in line of where the first shinobi was running... slid forward and jabbed my hand into his chest, piercing the heart underneath... I did it again and again and again- all perfectly struck, and managed to create an opening for our squad- you should have seen it, I felt like I had just gained a whole new arsenal and yet it was the exact same thing as before..." Saburo describes to me in wonderous detail as his eyes lighten up in glee.

I am quite familiar with the feeling, it was an excellent reward every time I mastered a new blade, probably my only reward apart from mastering it of course.

"My shift ends in half an hour, do you want to show me the results of your training?" I ask.

"Ah- well- of course!" Saburo snaps out of his daze and nods fervently.

"Very well then. Go get prepped, I will meet you at our last sparring ground in thirty minutes" I smile and he nods again before leaving.

*Ding!*

Good. I have time to finish the chapter I was on before sparring.

I flip open my book and keep an eye on the time.

---

Pov: Saburo Mori.

Evade, slide- Joust.

The core concept of my taijutsu.

Over time I have added additional methods to use this taijutsu- I carry a bundle of hooked rods for ranged attacks and have experimented with improvements on the piercing power of my scalpel joust.

But I have never quite understood what it meant to truly master your own art- I never realised the difference in skill level.

*Swish* *Swish!*

I jab forward twice- warming myself up for a spar.

But not just any spar- a spar with the Lazy Uchiha himself.

No one quite knows his talent like I do- I am the only one to uniquely benefit from it, I know I will lose in one of the most humiliating ways possible today. But I will do so with honour.

Because every weak spot he manipulates is one for me to cover and learn from in the future.

...

My sliding is faster than ever- I made it as fast as flickering when fully accelerated and it only takes me twenty seconds to reach full speed, if I need to that is.

My senses have been honed so tightly that a needle can't hit me- I can dodge ninjutsu with my eyes closed and weave around dangerous blades with a smirk on my face.

My joust is impeccable- one hit can strike down a major artery or vital organ quickly, I know the body well and my changes to the scalpel ninjutsu have resonated with my style.

But most importantly... ever since mastering the taijutsu...

*Crack!*

I clench my fists so hard that the knuckles crack!

... I have this 'sixth-sense' of sorts, I enter this flow state while dodging, weaving and sliding and it feels like I know the battlefield.

This extra sense doesn't let me see more or find things I couldn't before- but it feels like tightly weaving all senses into one to do exactly one task.

Stab.

I don't know what I was expecting when it happened- or before it.

Maybe a cool new ability that reveals itself? But that's just fantasy, my taijutsu is simple- but practical. It didn't have any hidden features, open to everyone who looked at it.

That's it's strength- simple combat dominance.

An evasive, aggressive taijutsu that yields no room for the enemy to counter me.

And it fits so well!

I take a breath of fresh air and turn to my side, watching Takumi enter the grassy field.

"What happened to the Fish loving fool? He isn't opening the door?" Takumi asks as he takes off his jacket and begins to fold it.

So it begins.

"He is sick in bed- I paid him and we can use his field like normal, as long as we clean up after ourselves" I smile.

"Noted. Take these" Takumi throws a bundle of wooden rods at me, blunted for sparring use.

I place them on my back waist holster, adjusting them to be capable of twisting around to my side when needed.

"You ready?" Takumi enters into his nonchalant taijutsu pose.

"Yes" I enter my stance.

"Then go" He commands and I follow.

*Wooosh!*

I slide backwards and to the side... before blasting forwards and winding from side to side to confuse him.

*whip!*

I suddenly change rhythm at the last moment and joust from the opposite side he was expecting!

*Thump!* *Twist*

My hand glides around his chest like normal- but the impact feels different as he twists his arm around my shoulder and-

*Whabam!*

Throws me through the air- using my own momentum to send me rolling into the ground.

*Crash!* *Tumble*

I roll in the dirt and sit in it for a second.

"Don't tell me you lost all energy already? You know my technique, adapt and overcome it" He commands, turning around as if he didn't just perform a perfect counter throw.

Damn- I thought my rhythm breaking weave would catch him off guard... the secret to getting under that impossible defence of his is surprise attacks.

Attacks he can't see coming.

The other one I know is raw power, but I am not that strong- technique is my strength in this fight.

...

Which is also his domain.

Haaa- I pick myself up and re-enter my stance.

It's alright... I just need to get into that flow state again and dominate the field, master myself and dominate the battle- master myself and dominate the battle- master myself...

I calm my breathing as I start to chant to myself a small phrase.

*Wooosh!* *Swoosh!* *Swish*

I slowly glide over to him, now seeing a much clearer path. I then suddenly slide into his personal space before jabbing at him- intentionally missing my centimetres each time.

*Wha-* *Whoo!* *Woosh!*

My arms fly around him as I slide around the kid- I keep up my act.

"Very well thought out- my technique is dependant on high energy impacts, meaning a slow approach is much to your advantage. While not hitting me grants me a disadvantage on guessing which strike to block, normally I can read a face and assume the next hit based on your exhaustion and intention... but you aren't thinking right now are you?" Takumi smiles as he calmly watches the jabs fly around him.

*Thump!*

Takumi suddenly elbows me- and I jab at that exact moment.

*Tap-* *Woosh!*

I slide back and take the impact as I run my hand across his neck, cutting a thin slash that doesn't do any real damage.

...

"Interesting approach. I cannot attack and block at the same time, so you waited until that moment. Perfect approach, no notes from me" His eyes stop drooping and sharpen suddenly.

That's how I know that he is taking this seriously. I smile myself as I calm my mind again.

"Round one is yours Saburo" He notes and gestures for me to approach him again.

*Swish- Swoosh!*

I slide back fast and quickly throw a wooden rod-

*Catch- Bam!*

He catches it and I jab my hand into his ribcage.

"Hn. Force me to move then attack, perfectly done again. Two points to you Saburo" He glances into my eyes, peering at the soul beneath.

I just need one more point to complete our best of three- I was saving those two moves to use on him for a while now... I just need this last method to work.

I calm my mind again.

*Throw!* *Woosh!*

I throw my rod at him before bursting into speed- curving around to strike him on his side.

*Catch*

He catches the second rod and turns to me as I throw the third- before dropping to the ground and sliding past his legs.

*Smack*

He deflects the rod and stops moving for half a second before following my movements very closely.

*Twist!* *Burst!*

I suddenly twist my body- by applying the sliding ability across my legs and back, sending my feet upwards and using my hands to push myself up.

A sliding backflip into an upwards dropkick if you will.

*WOOOSH!*

My feet shoot up to hit his chin and I push up to meet his face as I fly upwards using my momentum.

I jab forward, again and again- not hitting him once as my hands just glide off his skin with no impact.

*Slam- Slide*

I slam my feet into the ground a small distance away and tightly grip my hands as I pull myself to a stop.

"I see. I didn't expect that" Takumi notes.

I immediately pull my hands backwards and tighten the wire I threw around his ankles and wove around his face!

*Snap!*

But they break off upon tightening.

"I congratulate you- you really have mastered your art, to be capable of weaving in a new weapon so masterfully without being a practitioner of it. Wire, quite an addition to your skillset" Takumi nods as he mentally creates what I can only assume to be fifty forms for my justu.

...

But I will not concede that point. As your wire broke. I merely transferred the impact of deflecting your rod and stored it until I needed it. Cutting your wire as it tightened if your curious" He smiles a lot more arrogantly.

I smile as a bead of sweat drops down my face.

That was the trio of trump cards I had up my sleeve- all dedicated to getting a point from him as quick as possible... I doubt I can score another.

"Tell me- would you have beaten me before, same circumstances but each point equating to a lethal attack" I ask.

If this was real? Would he have suddenly thrown all my preparation's into the gutter?

"You got the points didn't you?" He lowers his gaze.

"I will believe what you believe" I assure him.

"Then I will tell you this. In no circumstances would I sit still and remain in this open field, in fact I would take an aggressive approach rendering your decision to poke holes in my jutsu useless" He answers with a shrug.

...

He would rush to a different area.

Or he would rush me and weave around my attacks. I understand it, my points were true. I won fairly and without him holding back- but he doesn't follow the rules of a spar in a real battle, he doesn't aim to break or kill me in a spar.

Meaning his tactics would be different- much like mine change in a real battle... where I never slow down to think or breathe, just one constant slide that eliminates our enemies when they least expect it.

"I understand you. Then please indulge me for a moment" I ask and stare into his eyes.

I see a flame behind them, burning with curiosity.

...

I tighten my grip again. Not waiting for an answer- my selfish request granted by his gaze alone.

This time I won't slow down- that isn't Takumi today, no that is the man who will kill me if I fail to kill him.

I take a breath and burst forth.
