The Mirror Dimension reacted violently. Buildings from distant reflections began folding inward, stacking upside down above them.
Wong and the others watched from a safe projection point.
Clint swallowed. "This is not glowing circle practice."
Back in the arena, the Ancient One raised both arms.
The entire environment obeyed her.
Skyscraper-sized slabs of mirrored stone rotated and fell toward Ethan from multiple angles.
Ethan's eyes glowed brighter green.
He slammed both fists into the ground.
"Rise."
A massive skeletal dragon burst from beneath the arena floor, formed entirely of bone and necrotic energy. It roared silently and shielded him with its wings as the falling structures crashed against it.
The impact shook the dimension.
The dragon snapped forward, lunging at the Ancient One.
She did not retreat. She multiplied herself into dozens of mirrored copies, each one moving independently. The dragon's jaws passed through illusions.
The real Ancient One appeared above Ethan and brought down a massive golden mandala of energy.
Ethan sensed it at the last second.
He raised both hands and summoned a swirling vortex of green energy above him. The golden mandala collided with the vortex, creating a violent spiral of gold and green light.
The skeletal dragon disintegrated under the pressure.
Ethan slid backward across broken stone, boots grinding against the surface.
He wiped a small line of blood from the corner of his mouth.
The Ancient One landed gracefully.
"You adapt quickly," she said. "But you are pushing too much power at once."
Ethan exhaled slowly.
Green lightning began to arc across his arms.
"Then I'll focus it."
He raised one hand, forming a concentrated sphere of necromantic energy, denser than before. Instead of releasing it wildly, he compressed it further and further until it became a small glowing core.
Then he flicked it toward her.
She created a portal to redirect it—
But the sphere detonated before entering, releasing a powerful explosive shockwave that disrupted the portal structure itself.
For the first time, she was surprised. ' he instantly neutralized the portal '
Ethan used that moment.
He teleported again, appearing directly in front of her, and unleashed a rapid series of palm strikes infused with dark magic. Each strike carried soul-draining force.
She blocked with golden constructs, but each impact drained a small portion of the energy from her shields.
The arena trembled as their close combat intensified—green necromantic bursts clashing against precise golden sorcery.
She suddenly shifted gravity sideways.
Ethan adjusted mid-motion, anchoring himself with spectral claws extending from his boots.
She folded space again, attempting to trap him inside a mirrored prism.
He countered by summoning skeletal pillars from within the prism walls, forcing them outward and cracking the structure apart.
The mirrored prism shattered outward in a rain of crystalline shards.
Before the fragments could even fall, the Ancient One rotated her wrist.
The shards froze midair.
With a sharp motion of her fingers, every shard shot toward Ethan like a storm of blades.
Ethan's pupils flared green.
He raised one hand and twisted it.
"Bone Wall."
A curved barricade of layered skeletal plates erupted from the ground in front of him. The mirror shards struck it in a violent barrage, slicing deep grooves into the bone. Some pierced through, grazing his shoulder and cheek.
Blood traced down his skin.
He did not retreat.
Instead, he stepped forward through the collapsing wall.
Green energy spiraled around his arms, forming jagged gauntlets of necrotic force. He slammed his fists together, releasing a pulse that corrupted the air in front of him. The mirror shards caught in that pulse blackened, decayed, and crumbled into dust before reaching him.
The Ancient One narrowed her eyes slightly.
She stomped her foot.
The entire arena inverted.
Up became down. Platforms rotated in spirals. Gravity twisted in multiple directions at once.
Clint grabbed onto the projection railing. "How is he even standing?!"
Inside the arena, Ethan adapted instantly. Spectral chains burst from his back and anchored into nearby structures, stabilizing his body in the shifting gravity field.
The Ancient One extended both arms outward.
Golden glyphs the size of buildings manifested in the sky above him, spinning in complex geometric patterns. Energy gathered at their centers, condensing into spears of solidified light.
They rained down.
Ethan focused as his eyes flared like green lights and slammed both palms together.
"Nether Gate."
A dark green portal tore open behind him—not circular like hers, but jagged and unstable, as if ripped from another realm. From it poured a wave of shadowed wraiths, screaming silently as they surged upward to intercept the descending spears.
Light and death collided midair.
Explosions of gold and green rippled across the fractured sky.
The shockwaves bent nearby buildings inward, folding them like paper.
The Ancient One stepped forward through the chaos itself, untouched.
She thrust her palm toward him.
A focused beam of golden force erupted from her hand, piercing through the remaining wraiths and slamming into Ethan's chest.
He crossed his arms just in time.
The beam pushed him backward across three floating platforms, shattering them under his boots before he dug his heels in and roared, forcing the beam to split around him.
The ground beneath him melted into liquid mirror.
Without warning, dozens of golden arms extended from the liquid surface, grabbing his legs, torso, and arms, attempting to restrain him completely.
The Ancient One's voice remained calm.
"You are talented but you lack experience "
Ethan's expression didn't change hearing her as he remained focused.
Green veins of necromantic light pulsed across his body.
"I am not done yet."
He closed his eyes for half a second.
The raging aura around him compressed sharply, shrinking inward instead of expanding. The chaotic waves of death energy smoothed into a tight, controlled layer hugging his body like a second skin.
His eyes opened again—calm now.
Every golden arm holding him began to decay from the point of contact, corroded by precise, controlled necrosis rather than wild destruction.
He stepped forward.
Each step shattered the mirrored ground in perfect circles.
The Ancient One lifted both hands again, summoning a massive rotating mandala behind her—larger than before, layered with complex interlocking sigils.
She pushed it forward.
The mandala expanded, attempting to envelop him completely in a containment seal.
