Chapter 121: Who the Hell Are You?
Cain stood before the threshold of his house, unable to find any room in his mind to comprehend such foolish reasoning. His spatial rift technology was hardly restricted to teleporting individuals a mere five meters or a few paltry yards; it possessed the absolute capacity to tear through the dimensional fabric itself and transport entities across realms and vast distances—distances that a man like this could barely comprehend even if drawn out on paper!
Fundamentally, he felt the utter futility of standing here merely because he was forced to endure an argument with this senile old man attempting to prove flimsy, baseless theories.
Furthermore, the presence of this fleet of armored escort vehicles in the peaceful street was beginning to stir a massive commotion. It caused onlookers and nosey neighbors to peer through their windows and gather to spectate this dramatic scene. In other words, if Cain were to cause a bloody incident or a massacre here, it would demand double the effort to wipe the memories of every single person stealing glances in the vicinity.
The situation clearly dictated a wise, measured approach: refraining from using supernatural powers in broad daylight. They had only with immense difficulty cleared away the aftermath of the artifact-laden truck incident prior, and there was no leeway to repeat such chaos now.
Cain needed to devise a swift alternative solution. Above all else, Lucy had to remain comfortable and deeply asleep inside her room until he returned, ensuring she did not rise from the bed and awaken to this noise, triggering her devastating wrath.
Cain raised both hands in mock surrender before everyone, speaking in a tone saturated with sarcasm: "Oh! You have struck the absolute truth, old man... I am indeed a spy sent by that ’Haven family’! Come, arrest me quickly before I make my grand escape using my spatial rift portal technique!"
As for the crowd gathered along the street, hearing Cain declare such things while mocking the old man with talk of spatial portals left them quietly wondering if a film crew was shooting a science fiction movie in their neighborhood. Not a single soul among them possessed the faintest idea what these two men meant by "teleportation portals"!
As for Nathan, expressions of shock and utter panic washed over his face upon witnessing Cain raise his hands so fluidly.
He had never anticipated such a placating response! He had assumed that when a majestic and terrifying entity like Cain was threatened by his angry grandfather—who had been suffering from acute stress and a constant sense of paranoia regarding everyone around him lately—the retaliation would be absolute and decisive.
Nathan had fully expected Cain not to bother explaining himself or entering into futile arguments, but rather to sink the earth and everyone upon it into nonexistence in a fleeting flash!
Old man Vincent wore a confident, triumphant smirk, under the illusion that he had subdued Cain... Yet that smirk failed to endure for more than a fraction of a second.
A completely invisible strand of Cain’s aura bled out with subtle fluidity, completely unnoticed by any of the guards surrounding him, until it struck directly into old man Vincent’s consciousness. Thus, the old man became the sole individual on the street capable of perceiving and comprehending that horrifying existence!
For a fleeting instant, old man Vincent caught a glimpse of that dark strand emanating from Cain’s soul. It was an entity so dark and abyssal that his elderly body nearly collapsed onto the asphalt, saved only by his feet being pinned to the ground by firm, invisible supports to the utmost degree!
It was not merely his feet; his entire body froze and straightened against his will like a statue forged of solid steel! Vincent’s eyes widened to their absolute limits, his features draining of color like a corpse, while a bone-chilling shiver coursed through his marrow as he listened to Cain’s stern, overwhelming voice echoing directly within his head:
"I shall accompany you of my own free will and complete accord... But do not... under any circumstances... let your foot step inside this house, nor allow a single one of your guards to cross its threshold! Should that occur, something far more horrific and gruesome than death itself shall befall you all... at the hands of an entity whose rampage even I personally cannot restrain or halt if she awakens in anger... Do you comprehend what I am saying?"
Through his magical aura, Cain utilized direct telepathic transmission to deliver this absolute ultimatum into Vincent’s mind. After all, the absolute worst-case scenario for Cain was not slaying dozens of armed guards... but rather the catastrophic reality of Lucy waking up angry and in a foul mood! Should that transpire, condolences would be insufficient for the inhabitants of Earth—perhaps even for the entire solar system!
At that critical juncture, old man Vincent flinched, his voice trembling as he barked at his guards: "Escort him immediately! Seat him in the finest, most comfortable chair inside the main vehicle! Do you understand what I am ordering you to do?!"
Within seconds, old man Vincent came to fully comprehend what his grandson Nathan had warned him about in sheer terror—that this man was the absolute last person on the face of the Earth one should ever disturb or cross!
Vincent had initially disbelieved it. How could someone appear out of thin air carrying treasures and Mana stones valued at tens of millions without even possessing a place of residence or legal identification papers?! He had initially assumed the most logical explanation was that this man was an operative sent to swindle his grandson and deceive their family... But now, after tasting the brief horror of Cain’s lingering aura, he comprehended the raw facts directly! It required nothing more than that single instant to realize that this entity was far too elevated to ever be trifled with.
As for the black-suited guards, complete astonishment seized them over their master’s orders, leading some to suspect that senility and old age had suddenly overtaken his mind!
Among the spectators and onlookers on the street, one individual let out a frustrated huff: "What kind of garbage plot line and cliché writing is this?! I reject this dramatic decision!"
Another grumbled while waving a dismissive hand: "This is complete nonsense... I wish I hadn’t stood around wasting my time watching!"
Cain was ushered inside with exaggerated respect and led into the primary luxury armored limousine.
Once Cain settled into the plush seat, old man Vincent climbed in beside him, followed by Nathan, whose mouth the guards immediately unsealed by removing the adhesive tape.
The armored vehicles set off in a majestic, quiet motorcade. Old man Vincent turned toward Cain, his voice entirely devoid of its former arrogance, now clad in fear and profound reverence:
"So... you truly are not from this world, just as Nathan insisted on telling me... That is the only logical explanation for all this grandeur and terror! I am deeply sorry if I was insolent or hasty with you at first... Please forgive me, but who in heaven’s name are you?!"
