Chapter 69: The fight in the sky
The surrounding space trembled due to that terrifying aura Roger unleashed from his body; the pressure resulting from his body’s transformation into a fabric of dark stars imprisoned beneath his skin made the air heavy, as though it had turned into liquid lead enveloping their entire vicinity.
Roger was no longer human... for no human could possess an affinity for star magic to these bounds except by one explanation for this madness: he was burning his magical core and essence to become a walking, two-legged destructive cosmic hurricane.
"Fallback! This scoundrel is burning his magical core!"
screamed the ancient witch Linda, who appeared from behind the volcanic commander, as she unleashed a forbidden-tier defensive spell of the time element
[The Gray Veil of Eternity].
Yet Roger did not give them a single chance to rally their ranks or catch their breath; he vanished from his spot in a fraction of a millisecond, leaving behind a vacuum that imploded with a force that caused a massive pressure explosion and a violent atmospheric decompression storm.
BOOM!
Roger materialized abruptly in front of the massive volcanic commander in the blink of an eye—a commander who did not even have time to raise his giant sword in defense. Roger’s morphed hand, radiating with the brilliance of galaxies, extended and gripped the volcanic commander’s face with total ease, as if holding a clay doll.
"You... who dared utter her mention with your filthy tongue?" Roger whispered in a terrifying voice resembling the friction of giant planets.
"You scu—" The commander could not finish his word, for Roger pumped condensed star magic directly into his skull. In a flash, the volcanic commander’s eyes began to glow a brilliant silver, and before he could even scream, his head and entire body exploded from within. His black volcanic armor shattered into scattered, lethal stone shrapnel that pierced the bodies of those nearby, forcing them to retreat with extreme speed to evade the debris resulting from the blast.
With this raging madness and apparent destruction from Roger, Ocean Prince Holmes intervened, brandishing his legendary scythe whose blade was jagged in the shape of a raging sea wave. He swung his scythe with force and violence, unleashing his most destructive Prince Level technique:
{Poseidon: Wrath of the Seas and Oceans}!
Illogically defying the laws of physics, thousands of tons of torrential water manifested in the sky behind Holmes, blotting out the horizon. Those massive waves began to move with sweeping vigor toward Roger, who slightly parted his palms to reveal a dark void between his hands that looked just like a miniature black hole. This was an exclusive and lethal evolution of the Lone Star technique:
{The Lone Star: One Galaxy, Black Hole}!
In brief moments, the towering mountains of waves and rushing water were completely siphoned by a magnificent gravitational pull, as if falling into a bottomless, deep abyss in the cosmic void!
"You bastard Holmes! Are you a fool?! This reckless technique could kill the civilians below!" Sylvia, the Valkyrie commander, shouted in a loud voice filled with panic toward Holmes, who grew extremely tense from her scream.
However, he felt even more panicked by Roger; thus, he decided to push his mana to its absolute limit, summoning water directly from the oceans of "Algerian"—a colossal, entirely aquatic planet—believing that by continuously pressing with unending water masses, Roger would lose the balance of his power from the sheer volume of water, causing his spell to collapse!
Holmes shouted insanely, "Shut up, you fool! I have plenty of water!"
Annoyance began to display on Roger’s features from this accursed torrent. His black hole was not infinite at this tier; rather, it was limited. The spell he was utilizing mimicked the gravitational mechanism and immense pull of a real black hole, but what he held between his hands was merely a cover.
The terrifying truth was that the actual black hole at the center of his spell was of a minute, microscopic size—nearly smaller than an atom! Roger was exhausting most of his magical strength and mental focus just to protect it from scattering and self-evaporating due to cosmic Hawking Radiation.
The dense water entering the depths of the spell was being transferred to a special dimension and instantly vaporized by the massive stellar energy within Roger. But here lay the problem: if he released this legendary amount of compressed water vapor, he might trigger the worst possible greenhouse effect and climate suffocation catastrophe for the city!
Therefore, if this scoundrel continued his madness and pumped the oceans of Algerian, Roger would be in real trouble.
But Roger knew exactly what to do; he released the trapped vapor all at once against the raging waves. However, this exact moment was the vulnerability he accidentally fell into; the rush of dense vapor completely obscured vision in the vicinity. leaving him completely exposed for four seconds. The ancient witch Linda exploited these four seconds, unleashing her time magic to bind Roger’s hands and body with crimson magical shackles, burning and riddled with severe thorns.
This restraint was naturally insufficient to bind a monster as ferocious as Roger is now, for he could easily break it, but in these fractions of a second, he needed to endure for a bit.
At that critical moment... his body was entirely submerged and buried under millions of tons of vast water pushed by Holmes with desperate force:
{Poseidon: Wrath of the Seas and Oceans}!
SWOOOOOOSH!
The massive water masses swallowed Roger’s body completely, and everyone thought he had drowned. But suddenly, Roger burst forth from the midst of that aquatic pile after entirely vaporizing it via the searing heat of the star energy radiating from his core, launching into a hysterical attack once again against the remaining three in the sky.
"Damn it! Quick! Send an immediate distress message to one of the High Stars in the Organization!" Sylvia screamed, feeling absolute panic and fear of annihilation as she saw death advancing toward them.
Before any of them could move, Roger began unleashing stellar beams. The silver and blue beams were swift and instantaneous, ricocheting through space right and left like a tempestuous, mad electrical current, dividing and branching in the air, heading directly toward the three present in the arena!
