Chapter 117 | Crimson Valkyrie That Loved The Rain

Dexter stood awkwardly in the living room after Mira turned away from him, rejecting his apology meal as she radiated anger.

Even the tea in his hand was getting superheated by her aura.

Dexter sighed as he scratched his sprouting beards.

She’s really stubborn. Do I have to get down on my knees to say sorry for trying to help?’

He pursed his lips and turned around as he proceeded to the girl’s room. At that time, rain started to drizzle, beating down on the roof of the house.

As he got to the front of the room. He hadn’t even knocked yet when a dark-haired cutie popped her head out of the door, her eyes locked on the pastries and tea in Dexter’s hand with hunger.

Dexter chuckled. ’You’re easier to please.’

He said while giving her the tray.

Lyra glanced at him, and her lips curled up as she grabbed the tray.

She was about to leave when she suddenly paused. ’Check her name on the internet.’

Lyra’s voice sounded in his head, and she immediately went inside before Dexter could ask what she really meant.

Dexter blinked his eyes in confusion. ’Search up her name?’

He had actually never truly done that. And all the gossip he heard about them was through random channels.

Dexter brought out his new phone, making him remember he hadn’t gifted the girls the new clothes and items he got.

’I just keep getting distracted and forgetting things.’ Dexter frowned. He turned on the Intranet app and typed on the search bar: MiraCalloway.

Several videos immediately popped up of her, but there was one in particular that stood out to him.

It was an old video from four years ago, back when she was the Crimson Valkyrie.

Dexter went inside his room, sat on the edge of the sofa, and pressed play.

The video opened with Mira sitting in a studio chair, dressed in a sleek, crimson-and-black combat suit.

She looked dazzling; her red hair was vibrant, her crimson eyes were bright with life, and she wore a massive, radiant smile. She looked like the sun itself, burning with fiery confidence and an infectious energy that lit up the screen.

Dexter played the video and he was immediately enthralled by it.

After 20 minutes, he got to a particular section.

The interviewer laughed. "So, Mira, tell us. What is the one thing you really love? The one thing that can uplift you even during a bad day?"

Mira tilted her head thoughtfully, a playful glint in her eyes. "Ah, the one thing I love?"

"Yes! And you can’t say your parents, your fiancé, or your fans," the interviewer added jokingly.

Mira chuckled and it sounded so bright and melodic it seemed to belong to an entirely different person than the woman sitting behind him in the living room. "That doesn’t leave much, does it?"

She paused as her expression softened.

"The one thing I love... is rain."

The interviewer’s lips parted, clearly surprised. "Rain? But your talent is fire-based. Why rain?"

Mira shrugged, her smile widening into something genuinely warm. "I know, right? Maybe in my past life, I was probably a Legend-rank water ability user. That’s probably why I love it so much." She paused again, her gaze drifting slightly.

"But honestly? Ever since I was a kid, I would go out into the rain anytime. Anytime I’m in a bad mood... if it rains, it melts my mood like ice."

The interviewer laughed loudly, and Mira laughed along with him.

"Alright. We end the segment of..."

Dexter lowered his phone. His face was clearly stunned.

’Did the feisty queen actually laugh?’

It was quite a surprise to him, as he had never even seen her smile for real.

The most he had seen was a half smile or a sneer.

Suddenly Dexter grinned as he heard the downpour of rain increasing even more.

He stood up and walked to the living room. Without a word, he walked towards Mira and unlocked the wheels of her wheelchair.

Mira’s eyes snapped open. She turned her head slightly, glaring at him coldly. "What do you think you’re doing?"

Dexter didn’t answer. He simply gripped the handles and began rolling her toward the back door.

"Dexter? What are you doing?" Mira’s frown deepened.

But Dexter still didn’t reply.

Her voice immediately rose as she growled.

"Dexter!"

Dexter smiled. "You’ll find out soon enough."

As they neared the back door, the sound of the heavy downpour grew louder, and the scent of wet earth filled the hallway.

"Pitta! Patti! Pitta!"

Mira’s eyes widened as she immediately put two and two together.

"Don’t," she said threateningly, like a cat about to strike. Only, this cat is paralyzed.

Dexter shrugged, still moving forward. "Don’t what?"

"Dexter, I’m warning you, don’t," she repeated in an even firmer tone.

But Dexter pretended like he wasn’t listening. But actually, his enhanced hearing had spread really wide.

He knew her well enough by now to tell when she was genuinely furious and when she was just trying to maintain her pride.

So, he ignored her half-hearted protest and continued moving.

Selene was already in the backyard, cultivating quietly under the shade of the roof.

She opened her white eyes, completely confused as she sensed Dexter wheeling Mira directly out into the pouring rain.

The moment the wheelchair crossed the threshold of the overhang, the rain hit them like hail of water bullets.

"Whoosh!"

The rain came down, slammed heavily against the earth, and as Mira was pushed out, the cold rain gushed on her.

Falling on Mira’s shoulders, her hair, her face, and body.

Within seconds, her red hair darkened from copper to deep burgundy, plastering itself against her skull and neck as her clothes soaked, clinging to her slim body and revealing her succulent chest and curvy waist.

However, Mira didn’t move, nor did she speak.

She just sat there in silence with her head tilted upwards and her eyes open as the rain dropped directly into her eyes and face without blinking.

It was just like he was watching a horror movie in real time.

Dexter’s heart dropped as a cold, sickening weight settled in his stomach.

Shit! Have I misread the situation?’

He stood there for 30 seconds as the rain poured on her but she simply sat there in a terrifying silence that grabbed Dexter’s heart second after second.

She’s changed.’

Three years of paralysis, bitterness, loss and rage and the slow, grinding erosion of everything she used to be.

Who was he to think that a video from the past could override all of that?

Who was he to think that the girl who loved the rain still existed somewhere inside this woman who couldn’t even lift her own arms?

He had actually made a grave mistake, and he knew at this moment, Mira might never forgive him for this.

’I truly messed up.’
