Purple Cat rarely asked for favors. Seeing her current anxiety, Yako said, "I'll go check on things first and assess the situation."
He left the office and headed straight for Root.
With only two operatives left in Root, Yellow Dog had instructed Yako to take three Anbu ninjas there to help train new recruits. That assignment gave him the perfect excuse to enter Root.
Yako thought to himself that he had slaughtered them a bit too ruthlessly. Pushed into a corner, Danzo had been forced to conscript a large number of ninjas into Root.
He wondered if conscripting ninjas from the clans would spark their resentment.
The civilian ninjas, however, were just unfortunate. With no one to stand up for them, they had no choice but to obey when faced with conscription.
Yako thought he understood just how desperate Danzo was, but when he saw the twenty children, he was still stunned.
Where had Danzo found twenty four-year-olds?
Ninjas matured early, true, but four years old? Wasn't that taking things too far?
