Goka Uchiha sat on the front steps, putting on his shoes.
Behind him, his wife asked, "Goka, will you be promoted to Jonin this time?"

A quick patter of footsteps sounded from inside as their daughter, who hated wearing shoes, ran over.
Goka caught her and playfully rubbed his stubble against her cheek, making her lean back and squirm in protest.
"After the war in the Land of Whirlpools, the clan leader recommended four of us Special Jonin for promotion to Jonin," he said.
"Our Uchiha clan bled in the Land of Whirlpools. We earned plenty of military merit.
"The village wouldn't be so stingy as to deny us just four Jonin spots.
"I heard the Sarutobi clan recommended nine Jonin—the most of any ninja clan."
