Chapter 139: Anbu Observers
Upon returning to the Anbu tents after midnight, Yako unrolled Shinmei's mission scroll.
As a squad leader, Shinmei had been assigned to scout maritime supplies at Shabo Harbor (沙波港) in the Land of Wind.
Situated in the southeastern corner of the desert, Shabo Harbor (沙波港) was the Land of Wind's sole port and lay relatively close to the Land of Rivers.
Because the Land of Wind was poor in iron ore, it relied heavily on imports from the Land of Lightning.
That made Shabo Harbor (沙波港) a prime target for Konoha's reconnaissance. Squad after squad of Konoha ninja had been dispatched to the port, determined not to let a single scrap of intelligence slip through the cracks.
During the mission, Shinmei and his two Genin students had died in the line of duty. Only a Chunin named Mi Nara had survived.
On paper, everything in the scroll seemed completely watertight—mostly because it had been written entirely by Mi Nara, the sole survivor.
The dead couldn't talk.
It was like a street fight that ended in a homicide: the person who ended up in the morgue had always thrown the first punch.
