In the boundless desert, Namikaze Minato led his three students in a swift march.
During a break, Uchiha Hato complained, "We've been walking in the desert for two days. When are we going to run into enemies?"
Namikaze Minato heard her complaint but said nothing.

Nohara Rin comforted her, "Sensei is keeping us on track. We aren't lost, Hato. Don't be so anxious."
'How could I not be anxious?' Uchiha Hato thought. 'The clan's ninja have all gone to the Land of Hot Water to fight the Cloud Ninja. I have to complete a few impressive missions too.'
She turned to look at Kakashi. On Minato-sensei's recommendation, Kakashi had already become a Jonin.

Because of that, Kakashi had never properly cherished the White Fang Tanto, nor had he ever delved into the White Fang Blade Technique.
