Chapter 396: Summit Enlightenment
Deep in the night, the Fire Temple lay peaceful and silent.
Inside the meditation room, beneath a portrait of the Thousand-Armed Kannon Statue, a single candle illuminated an old, white-bearded monk.
By the dim, flickering yellow candlelight, Abbot Kaigyo bent over a scroll of Buddhist scripture.
The Sage of Six Paths once said that chakra was a tool to connect people. Countless ninja had failed to achieve this, but the Fire Temple had succeeded.
Believers, pilgrims, and ascetics from the surrounding areas came to the Fire Temple to worship the Buddha.
Whenever they knelt before the Thousand-Armed Kannon Statue, burned incense, silently recited scriptures, and chanted the Buddha's name, they generated a special kind of chakra.
This unique chakra, cultivated before the immensely merciful and compassionate Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, was known by the temple's ninja monks as compassionate karma.
When the ninja monks answered the believers' doubts and helped them escape the sea of suffering, compassionate karma generated within their own bodies as well.
The more believers there were, the more chakra the Fire Temple's ninja monks possessed.
