Marvel: The Silver-Haired Hacker and Her Mecha Fleet

Chapter 76 76: The Noob Who Fights Like a Grandmaster

Clang—!

The crackling crimson plasma blade slammed into Sif's enchanted Asgardian longsword. No deafening shatter rang out—only a sharp, searing hiss and a wave of scorching heat.

Sif felt agonizing numbness surge up her sword arm. She glanced down. A thin, glowing burn scar now marred the once-pristine steel. The blade had not melted in half as she'd expected.

Mira had throttled the plasma output at the exact instant of contact.

Respect flickered in Sif's eyes, but she had no intention of holding back. As her horizontal sweep cut empty air, she pivoted hard, boots grinding against the marble. Her reinforced round shield whipped toward Mira's face while her sword thrust low from beneath its rim—a classic, lethal Asgardian shield-and-sword combination.

The attack was fierce and cunning. Most veteran warriors across the Nine Realms would have been forced into a desperate retreat.

Mira didn't budge. Her feet remained rooted. With a subtle, almost invisible flick of her wrist, the crimson blade traced a precise arc and struck the flat of Sif's thrusting sword. The heavy longsword veered harmlessly past Mira's ribs.

At the same moment, the lightsaber's short crossguard blade caught the rim of the incoming shield. Using Sif's own momentum, Mira guided the shield aside with minimal effort.

Sif's balance broke. Her flawless combo crumbled.

Shocked exclamations erupted from the Einherjar.

Sif's legendary technique—honed through centuries of war—had been dismantled with effortless elegance. What stunned the warriors even more was Mira's swordsmanship. It wasn't the brutal, sweeping style of a battlefield slaughter. It was refined, minimalistic, almost like a royal dance. Every tiny motion landed exactly on the geometric weaknesses of Sif's strikes, turning the Asgardian's power against her.

Mira wielded the unstable crossguard lightsaber like an aristocratic rapier—agile, precise, and deadly. Despite the weapon's wild nature, she moved with perfect control.

"By the Norns…" Volstagg muttered, eyes wide. "I don't even understand how she's doing it, but every move is brilliant."

"I've never seen anything like this," Fandral said, all charm gone from his voice. "She's controlling the fight through timing and momentum alone."

Hogun remained silent, his grip tight on his mace, eyes locked on every exchange. He understood the terror of Mira's skill better than anyone.

Even Queen Frigga nodded slowly, admiration deepening in her gaze.

The duel intensified. Sif abandoned all restraint. Her strikes grew faster, heavier. Golden sword light rained down like a meteor storm as she pushed Asgardian combat to its limits.

Mira stayed calm, almost serene. Her footwork flowed like water through the storm. The crimson blade danced, parrying every blow. The crossguard's short blades repeatedly disrupted Sif's rhythm. Though she mostly defended, Mira dictated the pace of the fight.

The exhilarating exchange lasted a full ten minutes. Blurs of red plasma and golden steel wove together as the crowd forgot to breathe. Cheers rolled through the hall in waves.

Finally, Mira's wrist snapped. The lightsaber slid down the spine of Sif's longsword, locking it in place. With a gentle twist that used Sif's own momentum—

Clang!

The longsword flew from Sif's grip and embedded deep into a nearby oak table. In the same heartbeat, Mira closed the distance. The tip of her plasma blade hovered a centimeter from Sif's throat. Heat rippled the air, yet it singed nothing.

Silence fell across the banquet hall.

Then the roof nearly lifted from the explosion of cheers.

"GLORIOUS!" "THE SILVER WARRIOR WINS!" "A TOAST TO LADY MIRA!"

Mira smiled and deactivated the lightsaber with a soft click. "Thank you for the excellent match, Lady Sif."

Sif stood stunned for two seconds before bursting into hearty laughter. No shame lingered on her face—only deep respect and excitement. She thumped a fist over her heart in formal salute.

"I am defeated! Lady Mira Vale, your swordsmanship is the most exquisite I have witnessed in my long life. I accept it wholeheartedly!"

Mira returned the warmth. "You are formidable as well, Lady Sif. Your shield-and-sword style is fierce and battle-proven. If my dueling form didn't counter heavy vanguard techniques so well, I might have been the one disarmed."

She casually stored the hilt in a subspace pocket.

The Einherjar swarmed them, raising horns in toast. Volstagg tried to push forward to beg for lessons and was promptly dragged back by Fandral. Sif laughed and pulled Mira back to the high table, pouring her a overflowing horn of mead. They dove into technical talk about footwork and angles, the warrior's respect plain in Sif's eyes.

After a deep drink, Mira winked. "Since this is our first meeting and I brought no proper gift… I do have something that might suit a warrior of your caliber."

She raised her hand. A faint blue shimmer appeared. Two heavy, palm-sized Beskar ingots materialized on the table—dark silver-gray with beautiful wave-like patterns, dense and radiating exceptional quality. The Imperial six-spoke emblem was engraved in the corner.

Sif picked one up. Its weight and the dull, crisp ring when she tapped it made her eyes widen.

"What is this?"

"Beskar steel—Mandalorian Iron," Mira explained. "Extremely hard, heat-resistant, and ductile. Even my lightsaber would struggle to cut through it cleanly. It's the finest material in my galaxy for armor and weapons."

She smiled. "I noticed your shield and sword strain against plasma. These are for you. Have your smiths craft new armor or reinforce your shield. They'll serve you well."

Sif pushed the ingots back. "This is too precious. I cannot accept it."

Mira pushed them right back, amused. "We just shared a glorious duel. Consider it a token of friendship earned in honorable combat. Refusing would be looking down on your new Midgardian friend, wouldn't it?"

Sif met Mira's sincere gaze, then looked at the ingots. After a long moment, she nodded solemnly and secured them in her belt pouch.

"Thank you, Mira Vale. I, Lady Sif of Asgard, will remember this favor. Should you ever need martial aid anywhere in the Nine Realms, I will answer without hesitation."

The Warriors Three watched with open envy. Their regard for Mira deepened further—she was powerful, skilled, generous, and fit Asgardian spirit perfectly.

Mira laughed and clinked cups with Sif. Sweet mead flowed as ancient battle songs rose around them. The royal banquet raged deep into the Asgardian night, warmer and wilder than before.
