Seeing Crime Scenes in My Sleep

Chapter 212 - 208: Perks Up with Praise

The knife in Wen Ruo’s hand fell to the ground with a CLANG. "Sister, let’s just stop."

"Wen Ruo, the police are here now. Do you really think you can escape?

If you don’t kill them, I’ll tell the police that you were the one who killed Mom and Dad. Then your crime will be just as serious as mine."

Warmth watched Wen Ruo, who still hadn’t moved, a surge of irritation rising within her.

Wen Ruo was terrified by Warmth. ’I worked so hard to get into university... I don’t want to go to jail! If I go, my life is over!’

"Wen Ruo, just kill them. Then no one will ever know what we did."

Warmth continued to coax Wen Ruo. Even if she was going to die, she was determined to drag someone down with her.

Wen Ruo picked up the knife and walked toward Ding Shikai. ’He loves me so much,’ she thought, ’he’ll probably be happy to be killed by me, right?’

Watching Wen Ruo approach him with the knife, the corner of Ding Shikai’s mouth twitched. ’So all my talking, until my mouth went dry, was for nothing.’

Wen Ruo looked at Ding Shikai, her eyes full of apology. "Ding Shikai, I owe you in this life. In the next, I’ll definitely be with you!"

With that, Wen Ruo raised the knife, closed her eyes, and plunged it toward him.

The next second, a sharp pain shot through her wrist, and the knife was kicked away.

Cheng Xiangyu and Feng Dong burst in.

Feng Dong saw that Feng Chao wasn’t dead yet and sighed in relief.

"WAHHHH, Cousin! I thought I’d never see you again!"

Seeing Feng Dong, Feng Chao immediately started wailing.

"Shut up!"

Feng Dong pulled out a pair of handcuffs from behind his back, stepped forward, and cuffed Warmth.

’Chasing this woman earlier made my head spin!’

Cheng Xiangyu cuffed Wen Ruo. As he turned his head, he saw the human dolls displayed on the inner wall. Instantly, a chill shot straight up his spine.

Feng Dong saw Cheng Xiangyu freeze and followed his gaze. The moment he saw what was there, he too was too shocked to react.

’This is simply an act against humanity.’

Cheng Xiangyu surveyed the crime scene and told Feng Chao and the others to go outside first.

"Cousin, how did you guys get in? We were stuck in here for ages and couldn’t get out."

"We pushed the door open," Feng Dong said, walking over to the large door to inspect it. He suddenly noticed a hidden mechanism on the side.

The group waited inside for a while. Soon, more people from the police station arrived, and the area was cordoned off with police tape.

"Cousin, that woman is Wen Ruo’s sister. They did all of this together. Wen Ruo tricked her classmates into coming here for her sister’s amusement."

Feng Chao shuddered, thinking of how Liao Peng’s tongue had been ripped out while he was still alive.

Feng Dong nodded as he listened to Feng Chao. "Explain everything in detail when we get back to the station."

"Hey, Jiang Li, we’ve caught them. We’re all safe. The culprit’s methods were pretty cruel, but luckily, she wasn’t professionally trained. Xiao Nian took her down in a single move."

Wu Ming stepped aside to call Jiang Li and let her know they were safe. Idly kicking at a plant, she suddenly felt a chill run through her.

"Cheng Xiangyu, something’s not right with these spots!"

Hearing Wu Ming’s words, Cheng Xiangyu immediately walked over. Seeing her staring at the plants in front of her, an idea popped into his head. ’Don’t tell me there are bodies buried here!’

"I’ll have someone dig it up and see," Cheng Xiangyu said, turning to call for backup.

Jiang Li heard the commotion on their end. "Wu Ming, you guys seem busy. I won’t keep you."

Jiang Li put down the phone and jumped in fright the next second. She rubbed her eyes, flipped the switch on her bedside lamp, and the insects in the cabinet scurried away with a WHOOSH to find hiding spots.

Jiang Li was speechless. An idea began to form in her mind.

"Miao Anji!"

Miao Anji snapped awake from his dream and stood obediently at Jiang Li’s door.

"Exactly how many are you raising? Don’t tell me this entire villa is full of them."

Jiang Li stood with her hands on her hips, staring at Miao Anji. ’On TV, people only have a few. How come when it’s his turn, there are a gazillion of them?’

Miao Anji scratched his head and said, in a poor attempt to hide the truth, "They don’t chew on the furniture."

’So that’s a yes.’

For a moment, Jiang Li didn’t know what to say.

"Where did you even find so many insects?"

Miao Anji scratched his head, looking aggrieved. "Outside. They’re the ones who insist on following me. Every time I go out clean, I come back fully loaded..."

’Every time he sent his Gu Worms out, they’d come back with their entire families in tow. What could he do about it?’

"Sister, are you angry?"

Miao Anji bit his lip and stole a few glances at her. Seeing her silence, he grew even more anxious. "Sister, please don’t be angry, okay? I’ll throw them all out. If you don’t like them, I’ll never raise them again."

As he spoke, Miao Anji started patting himself down.

"No, I’m not. It’s just... you could have at least given me a heads-up so I could be mentally prepared," Jiang Li said, looking helplessly at Miao Anji.

’It’s not that I can’t accept it, it’s just a bit... shocking.’

"Sister, don’t worry! I promise they’ll be completely quiet!" Miao Anji raised his hand to swear.

"Alright, now go get some sleep."

Jiang Li had no choice but to send him back to rest.

Miao Anji felt a wave of frustration. His cold gaze swept around the room before he turned back to Jiang Li with a sweet smile.

"Okay, Sister. You should get some sleep too. Good night."

Jiang Li watched Miao Anji return to his room before going back to sleep herself.

Inside his room, Miao Anji sat on the edge of his bed, facing the insects that crowded the floor.

"Get out!"

...

The next day, Jiang Li woke up and decided to check on the things in the dollhouse. She glanced at the doll, then finally took it out and put it away before looking around.

’Weren’t there a lot of insects in here? Why is there not a single one left?’

’Could they be hiding that well?’

Jiang Li checked one spot after another and found nothing. She suddenly remembered Miao Anji saying he would throw them out last night.

’He didn’t actually do it, did he?’

Jiang Li pressed her lips together. She really hadn’t meant for Miao Anji to throw them out.

Jiang Li turned and walked out. Miao Anji was in the kitchen, clumsily and awkwardly cooking. He heard her and turned to look.

"Sister, you’re awake. Have a seat, it’ll be ready in a minute."

Miao Anji dished the food out of the pot and brought the meal out.

"Xiao Ji, did you really kick them out? You didn’t have to. If you want to raise them, you just have to tell me, and we can clear out a space for them."

’After all, they’d helped her a few times. It was just a matter of making some space.’

Miao Anji kept his head down, shoveling rice into his mouth without touching the other dishes.

"Xiao Ji," Jiang Li called again.

Only then did Miao Anji put down his bowl and look at her. "But Sister, you used my full name last night. You were angry.

It’s no big deal throwing them out. It’s not like I killed them."

"That was because I was startled. They’re your companions, I don’t have a problem with them. This is your home too, you can do whatever you want."

Hearing the word "home" struck a chord deep within Miao Anji.

Seeing his reaction, Jiang Li smiled and said, "Besides, Xiao Ji is so capable. I’m sure you can manage them perfectly."

Miao Anji’s eyes lit up, and he lifted his chin proudly. "Of course!"

And so, that afternoon, Jiang Li saw Miao Anji making his insects take a bath and even spraying them with perfume.

Jiang Li was speechless. ’This isn’t going to kill them, is it?’
