Seeing Crime Scenes in My Sleep

Jiang Li was still waiting for Feng Chao to reveal the person’s identity, but a moment later, she woke up.

Seeing Jiang Li awake, Miao Anji placed the meal she had prepared on the dining table.

"Sister, you’re awake. Come and eat."

Jiang Li glanced at her phone. She hadn’t expected to sleep until the afternoon, completely missing lunch.

"Okay." Jiang Li sat up and picked up her phone. There were no new messages.

Elsewhere, Feng Chao stared at the person before him, and the vase in his hand fell to the floor with a CRASH.

Ding Shikai, who was behind him, tried to step forward to see what was happening, but a moment later, he was knocked unconscious.

When they woke up again, they found themselves locked in a room. Lying next to them were the very people who had gone missing.

Her mouth bound with tape, Song Wei stared at the new captives and struggled to make a sound.

Feng Chao’s eyes fluttered open in pain. He saw someone whose face was a mirror image of Wen Ruo’s on one side, then his gaze shifted to Wen Ruo herself, who stood nearby.

"Wen Ruo, it was you all along!"

Shedding her frail demeanor, Wen Ruo completely ignored Feng Chao’s accusation, looking instead to her twin sister beside her.

"Sister, I brought them. Are you happy now?"

Warmth threw her a look as if granting a charity. "It’s acceptable."

Warmth walked over to Ding Shikai and Feng Chao, lifting their chins to study their faces carefully before pulling her hand back in satisfaction.

"Wen Ruo, are you insane?" Feng Chao struggled against his restraints, but the ropes were tied fast.

Ding Shikai stared at Wen Ruo in utter shock, unable to believe she was the mastermind.

Ding Shikai’s mind raced. He looked up in astonishment. "Wen Ruo, were you the one who told Liao Peng about this place?"

"I was."

A sharp pain shot through Ding Shikai’s heart. "So you also knew that I..." ’...had a crush on you?’

Wen Ruo glanced at Ding Shikai. "I knew. I also knew about Song Wei and Liao Peng’s plan. The so-called heirloom was just a pretext."

Song Wei was rendered speechless, staring in terror at Wen Ruo, a person she had always scorned.

When she had first heard talk in the dorm about exploring this place, she had seen Wen Ruo biting her nails in fear. That had prompted her to look it up right away.

And the necklace—if it were truly a precious heirloom, why would it have been left so carelessly in a cabinet?

She had come here feeling so smug, thrilled at the prospect of finally seeing Wen Ruo’s downfall. But it turned out this had all been a trap orchestrated by Wen Ruo herself.

She looked at the person Wen Ruo called Sister. One half of her face was as smooth as a peeled egg, while the other half was a mass of burn scars.

Noticing Song Wei staring at her, Warmth’s expression soured.

Song Wei met Warmth’s savage gaze and quickly looked away in fear, shrinking back into the corner.

Warmth strode forward, grabbed Song Wei by the hair, and yanked her forward.

Song Wei cried out in pain, feeling as if a chunk of her scalp had been torn away.

Liao Peng awoke to this scene and immediately pleaded with Wen Ruo, who was standing nearby.

"Wen Ruo! Wen Ruo, hurry and untie me! There are more of us now."

Wen Ruo shot Liao Peng a look of disgust, but then a thought struck her and she turned to Warmth with a worried expression.

"Sister, Feng Chao’s cousin is a cop. What if they track us down?"

Warmth let out a low, sinister laugh. She gripped Wen Ruo’s chin. "If it really comes to that, my dear sister, are you going to throw me to the wolves again?"

Wen Ruo froze, her eyes fixed on Warmth’s scarred face. She trembled as she apologized, "Sister, I’m sorry, I—"

"Who needs your apology? What good is being sorry!"

Warmth’s fury erupted, and she shoved Wen Ruo to the ground.

Liao Peng was dumbfounded when he heard Wen Ruo call her "Sister."

"Wen Ruo, you’ll never be able to repay what you owe me in this lifetime," Warmth said coldly, then turned and opened a hidden door.

A chill ran down everyone’s spine as they saw the wall completely covered in dolls.

"Th-these are all... all dead people...

Is-isn’t that the belle from the class next door and her best friend?"

Liao Peng had blurted it out in terror. Warmth immediately stopped in her tracks. She turned around slowly, her eyes dark and menacing as she stared at him.

Terrified, Liao Peng tried to scramble away, but a second later, a sharp pain exploded at the back of his head as something struck him hard.

He collapsed to the floor and watched Warmth advance on him, so terrified that he lost control of his bladder.

"I-I was wrong! I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have said anything!"

"AAAGH... UGH!" With a pair of pliers, Warmth ripped something out of his mouth.

Liao Peng’s legs spasmed a few times before he passed out.

Song Wei bit down hard on her lip in terror, the metallic taste of blood filling her mouth. She didn’t dare make a sound, terrified she would be next.

Feng Chao watched Warmth’s brutal methods, his scalp tingling with fear. His stomach roiled, and he had to force down the bile that rose in his throat.

The room fell silent. Only then did the expression on Warmth’s face soften slightly as she walked toward her "creations."

It was the first time Wen Ruo had ever seen Warmth be violent. She was frozen to the spot in shock.

She stared at the wall of corpses, at the several familiar faces among them. It had all been her doing; she was the one who lured them here for Warmth.

When they were children and their house caught fire, she had pushed Warmth away so the firefighters would save her instead.

Their parents died in the fire. Warmth was left severely burned, and the two of them received a massive compensation payment.

After Warmth was discharged from the hospital, she had locked herself away in this place. At first, she just had Wen Ruo buy her all sorts of dolls.
