The endless, dark abyss before them mirrored the dim, gloomy sky. The somber clouds overhead were like a great army of black-armored cavalry bearing down, threatening to collapse at any moment and creating an immense sense of oppression.

"Where are we?!"

After the group came to a halt, Chen Wansen asked, his brow tightly furrowed.

"This is no ordinary place!"

Faint but startling bolts of thunder flickered in Gu Yun’s eyes. He stared into the ink-black, bottomless chasm before them with his powerful sight, then spoke in a low voice.

"We’ll deal with whatever comes our way. Since we’re here, we just need to fly across!"

Xiao Chen took a step forward, his voice slow but firm and powerful.

Hearing this, Gu Yun and Chen Wansen both nodded.

The trio then transformed into three streaks of light, soaring into the sky to cross the endless, dark abyss.

A quarter of an hour later, they were far from where they started. Below them lay the endless darkness of the Abyssal Forbidden Land, a vast expanse of pure black.

Occasionally, a few towering cliffs and precipices would break through the unknown, bottomless dark, appearing before their eyes.

The three flew in a triangle formation with Gu Yun at the lead, flanked by Xiao Chen and Chen Wansen. They traversed the great abyss at a steady, measured pace.

After flying for some time, the three clearly felt the raging, terrifying gales around them. The rate of their True Yuan consumption was several times higher than during normal flight.

Fierce gales surged up from below, carrying a terrifying black Evil Qi. The wind scraped against their True Essence Shields—one of Purple Lightning, one of fiery red flames, and one of pale green wood—producing a ghastly, chilling sound like the wailing of ghosts and howling of demons that was utterly horrifying.

The dark, malevolent gales also carried a black mist that obscured their long-range vision. For Gu Yun, however, who possessed the Silent Extinction Thunder Gaze, the mist might as well not have been there.

But for Chen Wansen, the endless darkness ahead and the pitch-black abyss below—so dark you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face—exerted a considerable pressure on him.

But glancing at Xiao Chen beside him, as steady as a mountain with an unchanging expression, and at the immensely powerful Gu Yun leading the way, he suddenly felt much safer.

"Senior Brother Gu, also..."

Before Chen Wansen could finish,

Gu Yun suddenly sensed danger and shouted sharply,

"Watch out!"

A great mass of black smoke suddenly surged toward them from the front, like a black tide rolling in to crush them!

Terrifying Purple Lightning flashed in Gu Yun’s ink-black eyes, his cold gaze seemingly sharp enough to tear through the heavens.

He took a sharp step forward and pressed a hand out. In an instant, an overwhelming torrent of terrifying Thunder erupted around him, its brilliant light seeming to illuminate the entire gloomy world in a flash.

Countless bolts of Thunder spread out, seemingly forming a Thunder Domain, then violently blasted toward the tide of black smoke that was crashing down on them!

At the same time,

Xiao Chen’s reaction was astonishingly fast. A fiery light flashed in his eyes as if a blazing sun were burning within them. Terrifying flames erupted from the void, and under the scorching heat, space itself began to warp. The air around them felt like the inside of a blistering furnace.

He formed a hand seal.

"Hundred Flames Flame Technique!"

The terrifying flames around him instantly condensed into a hundred fireballs of various sizes. Like a mighty barrage of meteors searing through space, they shot forward and blasted into the encroaching black smoke!

BANG!

The astonishing Thunder tore the black smoke apart. A closer look revealed that the mist was actually composed of countless fist-sized, winged ants, their eyes glinting with a vicious, man-eating light!

The black mist, a dense swarm of terrifying, flying black ants, surged toward them like a vast black sea. Now, it had been torn asunder by the Thunder and pierced through by the hundred terrifying, meteor-like fireballs.

The swarm, torn by crisscrossing bolts of Thunder and riddled with holes from the terrifying fireballs, had its formation completely shattered.

But the flying black ants seemed to be extremely organized and disciplined.

They quickly regrouped, swarming together in dense layers as if they were merging into one.

They formed an enormous black monster that blotted out the sky.

This monstrous entity, formed from countless flying black ants, surged toward them, covering the heavens as if to annihilate them in a single blow!

"What in the world is that?!"

Chen Wansen stared at the utterly black creature before them, which radiated a bone-chilling aura, and couldn’t help but gasp.

Gu Yun’s expression remained unchanged. He raised his palm, unleashing a terrifying surge of Thunder that crackled violently. The Thunder from his upraised palm then tore through layers of space, shooting toward the heavens like a pillar of light and emitting a dazzling, brilliant radiance.

In the next moment, serpents of lightning writhed within the dark clouds overhead. Bolt after bolt of Thunder tore through space with a world-shaking roar. Countless bolts ripped across the sky, seemingly forming a true Thunder Domain above.

Gu Yun’s upraised palm drew down the mightiest bolt of all—a colossal spear of lightning that ripped through the firmament and pierced the clouds. He looked like a veritable Thunder True God in command of divine Thunder Punishment!

The next instant, Gu Yun thrust his palm forward. The heavens full of Thunder immediately tore through space like a Celestial Tribulation, crashing down to bombard the monstrous black entity!!

BOOM!

The deluge of Thunder slammed into the massive monster made of countless flying black ants, instantly tearing it to pieces and scattering the swarm amidst a deafening explosion!

At the same time, Xiao Chen stepped forward. A fiery light, like that of the sun, flashed in his eyes, and he radiated a scorching aura.

He then spread his five fingers in the empty air. A terrifying flame descended, surging into a sea of fire that warped the space around it. The surroundings became like a furnace, so searingly hot that the dark clouds overhead were nearly burned away and evaporated. The terrifying, blazing sea of fire then swept down, blanketing the scattered swarms of flying ants!

The sea of fire incinerated the very air, burning the surrounding swarms of flying ants to nothing. The few survivors, as if sentient, scattered in a panic and gradually disappeared into the far end of the abyss.

GULP!

Chen Wansen, standing behind them, swallowed hard as he watched. He was terrified by the monstrous black creature formed from countless flying ants,

and he was also completely shaken by the power of the two men before him!
