Alpha's Regret: The Hybrid's Royal Contract

Chapter 269 First Day on Camera

Elara

A week had passed since I signed the contract.

The contracts had been finalized, the crew hired, and now the reality show was finally about to start.

Only Linda was left from the house staff. She did the cleaning.

I did the cooking.

Grandma had moved into the pack estate too, just to be close. She checked on me every morning, making sure the pup was growing strong.

The production crew showed up at eight in the morning with a van full of equipment. They started installing cameras all over the house. Every corner. Every hallway. Every room where pack life happened.

Dominic supervised every single one. He followed them around like a security guard. I could feel his wolf through the bond.

One of the cameramen, a boy who looked about twenty-two, held up a small black camera. "Alpha King, do you want one in the master bedroom too?"

Dominic crossed his arms. His biceps flexed. The boy swallowed hard.

"No."

The boy blinked. "It is standard for the show. But you can cover it at night if you want. Nobody will watch a black screen anyway."

"I don’t care. Put it in the guest room instead."

The boy looked at his supervisor. The supervisor shrugged. They moved the camera.

When they got to the bathroom, Dominic stopped them again.

"The bathroom too?"

The boy nodded. "Just facing the mirror. Nothing else. You can cover it when you shower."

"Absolutely not. My wife is pregnant with the future Alpha heir. You want her climbing on a chair to cover a camera? What if she falls? What if she hurts the pup?"

The crew looked at each other. They knew better than to argue with an Alpha protecting his mate and unborn child. They agreed.

They added another camera in the bedroom instead, pointed at the bathroom door to pick up sound.

Hannah pulled me aside. She had a clipboard and a stressed look on her face. She was human, but she had worked with pack media before. She knew the rules.

"Elara, we start the livestream tomorrow at ten sharp. Can you be ready by then?"

"Sure. I am usually up by eight thirty anyway."

That was true. Ever since the pregnancy, I had been waking up with the sun. My wolf was restless. The pup inside me was growing, and my body knew it needed fuel.

I had been learning to cook breakfast. Nothing fancy. Just eggs, bacon, toast. Simple pack food.

But there was something nice about making my own meals. It felt natural. Primal. Like I was providing for my family the old way.

Linda helped with the prep work. She made sure I didn’t lift anything heavy. The pack was protective of their Luna. Everyone knew this pup was special.

Dominic walked into the kitchen. He had been hovering near the crew all morning. I could smell the tension rolling off him through the mate bond.

"Then I will leave for work at ten tomorrow."

His voice was casual. Too casual. Like he had been planning this all along.

Hannah caught it immediately. She pressed her lips together to hide a smile. "Sure, Alpha Dominic. Whatever works for you."

I knew what he was doing. He wanted to be on camera. He wanted to walk out the door looking like the Alpha King while the whole pack watched.

He wanted the world to see that his Luna was carrying his heir.

I didn’t call him out on it. But I saw right through him.

After the crew left, Dominic was still buzzing. I could feel his wolf through the bond, restless with excitement. He stood in front of his closet, staring at his shirts like he was getting ready for a pack ceremony.

"Babe, what should I wear?"

I looked at him from the bed. "Something normal. You are not auditioning for a boy band."

"But it is my first time on TV. I am the Alpha King. I need to look good for the pack. For our pup."

I stared at him. I was the one who signed the contract. I was the one carrying the future Alpha. He was just the husband. And yet he was the one panicking.

"Fine. Wear the one you wore on our first date."

That flashy suit had made him stick out like a sore thumb that day. So much so that I actually mixed him up with Damian Sterling.

Dominic grinned. I could feel his wolf purr through the bond. He knew I was messing with him.

"Too flashy?"

"Too flashy."

He pulled out a plain gray sweater instead. I nodded. That was better. Simple. Strong. Alpha.

He walked over to the bed and leaned down. His hand rested on my belly. The pup stirred under his palm.

"For the record," he said quietly, "I don’t care about the cameras. I just want the pack to see you. To see our pup. To know that you are mine."

I rolled my eyes. But I was smiling.

"Whatever you say, Alpha King."
