Zhao Jingyi and Xia Mengxue had stayed quiet at first, not wanting to cause any trouble.
But now that Jiang Li was leading the charge, how could they, as her employees, possibly back down?
She immediately switched into battle mode. With her hands on her hips, Zhao Jingyi snapped, "Who do you think you are, getting picky with customers? Haven’t you heard that the customer is God? You’re just a salesperson, but you’re acting all high and mighty."
Xia Mengxue chimed in, "What, have you never seen this much money before? That’s a million yuan! It’s probably enough to buy your life."
She swept a finger around the room. "And all of you! You don’t know a thing, you just stand there running your mouths. You said we were holding up business. Well? What about now?"
Everyone they yelled at shrank back like timid quails. The main reason was, none of them could just casually pull out a million yuan.
If they had that kind of financial muscle, they wouldn’t be in a computer market; they’d be getting private custom builds.
The sum of one million yuan was likely so large that it alerted the boss. Sticking out his big belly, he burst through the door. "Why was there a one-million-yuan deposit all of a sudden? Did a customer transfer the wrong amount?"
The moment he entered, he saw Jiang Li, who stood out from the crowd like a crane among chickens. His eyes lit up. Forgetting all about the one million yuan, he zeroed in on her like a fly to honey. "This beautiful young lady, what can I help you buy?"
’It all makes sense now,’ Jiang Li thought. ’No wonder the employees are like this. Turns out the boss is the real culprit.’
As the saying goes, if the upper beam is crooked, the lower ones will be too. The boss hadn’t set a good example, so what could you expect from his staff?
Still, she’d paid the money on impulse, so she had to get the most value out of it.
Even though she was loaded now, she should still be frugal when possible.
"Two desktop computers with the highest specs."
The boss pressed his palms together and rubbed them in a greasy motion. "For our top-of-the-line models, one computer costs about 200,000."
Jiang Li nodded. "Then I’ll take five."
The boss waved his hand grandly. "What are you all standing around for? Hurry up and assemble the computers for the young lady!"
He immediately pulled out his phone and used the calculator. "Five computers comes to a total of 1,093,000. I’ll give you a discount—just make it 1.09 million."
Jiang Li didn’t respond, simply scanning the code to pay.
"Alipay transaction received: ninety thousand yuan."
The boss asked suspiciously, "Miss, did you send the wrong amount? It’s 1.09 million, not 90,000."
"Weren’t you just curious who sent that one million?"
As the boss watched in confusion, Jiang Li pulled up her payment history. "See? I sent it."
The boss finally breathed a sigh of relief. He’d thought she was trying to get away without paying.
He chuckled obsequiously. "Of course, of course."
He then pulled out his phone. "Why don’t we exchange contact information? If you need anything else in the future, I can give you a discount."
Jiang Li gave a faint smile. "There’s no need for that. I’m afraid if I come again, your staff might kick me out."
The boss’s brow furrowed. "What do you mean by that?"
Xia Mengxue snorted. "What do you think? Your employee is incredibly arrogant. He doesn’t greet customers, he just insults them."
"Who was it?"
Everyone pointed to the man who had been so arrogant earlier. The boss’s expression hardened, and he strode over to him.
He raised his hand and gave the man two hard slaps across the face. SMACK! SMACK! "Who the hell do you think you are?! I give you a job, and you get picky about who you serve?"
Jiang Li raised an eyebrow, not intending to get involved any further. "We’re going shopping later, and it’s not convenient to carry these. You can deliver them."
Hearing this, the boss’s expression instantly changed from cloudy to sunny. "No problem, no problem at all."
His attitude now impeccable, he said, "If you just leave your contact information, I’ll personally come and apologize."
Too lazy to deal with him any longer, Jiang Li jotted down her contact information on a slip of paper, handed it to the boss, and then led Zhao Jingyi and Xia Mengxue out of the store.
Zhao Jingyi asked, confused, "Jiang Li, why did we still buy from them? We had to put up with all that crap, and we still let them make so much money off us?"
Jiang Li rubbed her nose awkwardly. "Ah, well, I kind of got carried away."
Before either of them could reply, Jiang Li continued, "That’s why we’re buying the rest of the peripherals at another store."
She might not know much about computers, but even she knew there was no way a top-spec computer could cost over 200,000.
Besides, she had already transferred the one million, and the chances of getting it back were slim. She had no intention of being a sucker and getting fleeced any further.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have bought so much as a mouse pad from them, let alone five computers.
