The Demonic Creature at the front let out a few frightened squeaks, but at Gu Tianyao's command, it steeled itself and continued running.
But the group hadn't been running for long.

The Demonic Creature suddenly shrieked in alarm, freezing in place before scrambling backward.

A sharp, crimson tail suddenly shot out from beneath the sand, its vicious barb stabbing forth.
The crimson tail was taller than a man, and its long barb was incredibly sharp, glinting menacingly in the sunlight.
At the sight, the Demonic Creature dropped to the ground, covering its head with its paws, trembling so hard with fear it couldn't move an inch.
Wan Hai's eyes widened in shock. "Watch out! It's a Desert Poison Scorpion! One of the most troublesome demonic beasts in the Desert of Death. Its tail is incredibly venomous and can corrode anything—even a sixth-grade Treasure Artifact can't block it! Everyone, be careful!"
But Gu Tianyao just smirked, completely unconcerned. "Heh heh, it's just a demonic beast at the Ninth Layer of the Earth Profound Realm. What's there to be afraid of?"
With that, he stepped forward and drew his sword. "Sister, no need for you to step in. Leave this to me!"
"ROAR!"
With a tiger's roar, the phantom of a fierce tiger flashed across the blade of his longsword.
Gu Tianyao lunged forward, swinging his sword violently at the massive, towering scorpion tail.
"CLANG!"
The sound of the collision rang out.
Gu Tianyao's sword struck the massive, lunging scorpion tail.
Then, with a slight flick of his wrist, he spun his Treasure Sword with a flourish and deftly maneuvered behind the scorpion's tail.
Then, in one swift motion, his sword rose and fell.
"SCHLICK!"
The massive scorpion tail was severed, flying high into the air.
"RUMBLE!"
The group suddenly felt the ground begin to shake as a huge mound of sand erupted from below.
A moment later, a gigantic Desert Poison Scorpion burst out from the ground, blocking their path.
Enraged at having its tail severed, the Desert Poison Scorpion immediately raised its two massive pincers and brought them crashing down on Gu Tianyao.
"Hmph, you pathetic beast! You dare act so presumptuously before me!"
Gu Tianyao merely smirked, unconcerned, and slashed out with his Treasure Sword.
"ROAR!"
A mighty tiger's roar erupted from his Treasure Sword. A giant, spectral tiger head appeared, its massive jaws agape, and shot forth with his blade.
"CRUNCH!"
In a single bite, it shattered the Desert Poison Scorpion's massive pincer.
Seeing this, Gu Tianyao couldn't help but grin smugly. "Heh heh! Pathetic!"
Gu Tianyao then kicked off the ground, leaping high into the air above the Desert Poison Scorpion. Without hesitation, he slashed his sword down at it.
Seeing this, Wan Hai cried out in alarm, "Don't!"
But Gu Tianyao paid him no mind, bringing his sword down without an ounce of hesitation.
"SCHLICK!"
A brilliant light flared, followed by an explosion of gore.
The Desert Poison Scorpion's body was instantly sliced open. It split in two and the halves toppled to either side as a torrent of blue blood erupted.
Seeing this, Wan Hai was aghast. "It's over! It's all over! Gu Tianyao, you shouldn't have killed the Desert Poison Scorpion!"
Gu Tianyao turned and sneered. "It's just a puny demonic beast. Why couldn't I kill it?"
