Chapter 138: Killed Tier 4
Zombie lunged towards Fredrinn on all fours.
The beast moved with sickening speed, its sharp claws shredding the carpet to ribbons as it crossed the narrow corridor.
Yet Fredrinn’s eyes didn’t widen in panic. With practiced ease, he leaned back, casually stepping out of the line of fire.
Fredrinn dodged, sending more sound based, invisible and dangerous frequency blades to rattle the zombie’s brain.
The narrow air distortions slammed into the creature’s head one after another with rapid, sharp concussions.
Each strike sent tiny ripples through the air, vibrating right through bone and into the creature’s gray matter. Black fluid leaked profusely from its nostrils and ears, staining its grey, leathery chin.
The tier 4 slowly started to get used to the pattern, attacking again and again while getting more bloody due to the sound blades.
Its primal, evolving intellect began anticipating the subtle shift in Fredrinn’s stance. It anticipated the silent pressure waves, twisting its torso mid-lunge and driving its obsidian-like claws in wide, feral sweeps meant to disembowel.
Everyone could only watch in an awe as Fredrinn dealt with the zombie with ease.
Ash had his mouth slightly open, holding his breath as he backed up against the hallway railing. Max watched with his heavy fists half-raised, blue sparks crackling around his knuckles, but he didn’t dare step in.
The sheer rhythm of Fredrinn’s movements was dizzying; he moved like a leaf on the wind, never wasting a single ounce of stamina.
When the spells didn’t work, he used his physical strength which was on par... Or even a little higher than the zombie!
Whenever the creature tried to grapple or pin him against the decorated wallpaper, Fredrinn met force with brutal, unyielding force.
A straight palm strike to the sternum shoved the multi-hundred-pound beast backward as if it were a ragdoll.
Rose, her two slaves or any other human.
No one had to interfere in the fight at all.
Rose stood quietly to the side, licking her lollipop with half-lidded eyes, entirely trusting her husband to handle business. Selene and Charlie remained anchored at the flanks, their vacant eyes scanning the corridor, executing their boundary-keeping duty to the letter.
After nearly 5 minutes of continuous exchanges, the zombie was weakened, its brain rattling from inside as it stumbled left and right, unable to stand straight.
The sonic vibrations had turned its internal brain into pure soup. Its limbs trembled asynchronously; one arm would lunge forward while the corresponding leg buckled backward.
Its head tilted awkwardly toward its shoulder, thick, gelatinous strands of black gore spilling from its slack jaw.
In human terms, it was like the zombie had drunk more than 2-3 bottles of vodka and now he didn’t know a single thing.
It would aim a claw at empty space, miss completely, and scrape its knuckles against the skirting board, nearly falling flat on its face from its own clumsy momentum.
It was obviously still deaf, but that just made it unaware of how many useless groans and growls he was releasing, which sounded more than broken.
The sounds were wet, gargled gasps that rattled through its torn vocal cords, vibrating the broken sconces along the ceiling.
"Wow... You turned that zombie into a literal retard..." Jenny murmured from the side, feeling weird just by watching such a strong zombie act like a mindless drunkard.
She lowered her pistol slightly, a mixture of disbelief and sheer awe shining in her amber eyes.
Just ten minutes ago, the presence of an apex Tier 4 had made her blood run cold. Now, it looked like a pitiful drunk wandering outside a tavern at three in the morning.
"Just a side effect of using high frequency waves." Fredrinn chuckled, shrugging slightly.
Due to the loud growls, the whole building was echoing with sounds, attracting the attention of several more zombies inside the building.
The deep guttural bellowing had resonated straight up the concrete stairwells and air shafts.
Since the lower floors were cleared already, they weren’t effected, but from the top?
Several more zombies spilled forward, some falling down the stairs because of not knowing how to climb down, while some were sliding down the stairs, thinking that it was the intended method.
The staircase at the end of the third-floor corridor suddenly groaned under a chaotic avalanche of limbs and rotting torsos. Half-naked infected tumbled down the steps like tumbling bowling pins, snapping bones against the metal handrails before dragging themselves to their feet with ravenous snarls.
Max and Ash instantly moved towards the new wave of zombies, intending to set them straight while Fredrinn decided to kill the tier 4 zombie first and foremost.
"Leave the small fry to us!" Max shouted, his frame surging forward.
Fredrinn didn’t waste another second playing with his food. He dashed at the zombie, kicking it straight in the chest as the zombie was sent skidding across the floor.
The concussive boot strike fractured the monster’s ribs, sliding its limp, disoriented body five meters down the hall until its back wedged hard against the mahogany baseboard.
Then Fredrinn took a run up and jumped.
He launched himself into the air, his silhouette blotting out the flickering ceiling light. His boots were decently heavy in weight, and when he used his entire weight and momentum behind the jump... He landed on the zombie’s skull.
CRACK-SPLAT!
The brutal force cracked its head in a heartbeat.
Gore and brain matter spilled from the crack as the head exploded like a watermelon hit with a baseball bat.
Dark fluids and viscous tissue sprayed outward, painting the wallpaper in an arc of visceral filth. Fredrinn’s jeans were dirtied, but he didn’t particularly care too much.
He simply turned around, intending to clear all the zombies.
Down the hall, the skirmish was in full swing. Max used his electric abilities and Ash used the lightrod, while Rose casually instructed Charlie and Selene to slay the other zombies.
Blue lightning arced across the hallway, burning and paralyzing the shambling mob while Ash methodically held his concentrated light beam against foreheads, boring clean, charred holes into their skulls.
Charlie was using his brute force and muscles, punching the zombies against the wall till their heads convulse and the skulls crack, while Selene had been watching Fredrinn.
The schoolgirl slave’s blank, pale eyes had tracked Fredrinn’s execution technique with clinical precision. She saw the low effort, easier method that he had just used to get rid of the strongest zombie they had seen till now.
Thus, she also dragged out a tier 3 zombie, kicking it down and jumping directly on the skull with all her force.
Her slender sneakers descended with terrifying hydraulic power, smashing through bone with a wet pop. The technique worked, as Selene continued to assist in killing the zombies...
In just two minutes, most of the zombies were cleared.
The hallway was an absolute abattoir of smoking, electrocuted corpses, shattered skulls, and scorched walls.
However, just as Charlie was going to punch the living daylights out of a tier 2, weak zombie, Fredrinn grabbed the brute’s bicep, stopping the punch.
The massive undead muscle felt like cured leather under Fredrinn’s fingers. Charlie couldn’t care less as punched the zombie with his left hand anyway, though the force wasn’t enough to kill it.
The Tier 2 crashed against the floor, wheezing, its ribs broken but its head intact.
"Rose, tell him and Selene to stop." Fredrinn sighed in exasperation, turning to his demonic beauty after realizing that it was futile to brawl with the brute.
Rose giggled softly, snapping her fingers. Charlie immediately dropped his fists to his sides, freezing mid-motion like an unplugged machine, while Selene backed off from an overturned creature.
"Jenny and others, stop killing them too. Leave some behind." He smirked.
Jenny and others were confused but decided to listen.
Max lowered his fists, shaking the lingering static from his knuckles, while Ash extinguished his beam of light with a heavy sigh of exhaustion.
In the end, 5 zombies were left, 4 were tier 2 and 1 was tier 3.
They were pinned down, limbs broken, hissing and snapping their teeth from the stained carpet.
After seeing the gains, Fredrinn nodded in satisfaction.
There were several zombie corpses littering the ground... And as the responsible citizens, they should really clean their messes, no?
He turned to Rose, "Can you control these zombies?"
The moon was still high in the sky, so the nocturnal buff was still an issue.
Luckily the nocturnal buff also strengthened Charlie and Selene, turning them into very useful helpers.
Rose shook her head, "Rose can do tier 2 but not 3." She sighed.
"It’s fine... You have your claws, right?" Fredrinn asked with a slight, gentle smile that somehow sent chills down the human’s spines.
’What’s he even planning?’ They all thought inwardly.
To stand over half-crushed monsters with a pleasant, polite grin was unsettling enough, but the dark glint in his eye hinted at something downright sadistic.
"Of course, hubby." Rose replied, beaming as she raised a hand, her nails growing fast and transforming into brutal claws.
"Great... Jenny and others, please go downstairs and bring everyone to floor 2 for now. We have some work to take care of, but we will make sure no more zombies try to head down the stairs." Fredrinn said calmly.
Jenny, Ash and Max looked at each other, before squinting at the remaining 5 zombies and Fredrinn.
After gazing at Rose’s dreadful, dangerous claws, they realized that they really shouldn’t wait upstairs and watch what’s coming...
Whatever gruesome experiment or harvesting ritual Fredrinn had in mind, it was clearly not meant for civilian eyes.
"Yes! We are going to gather everyone on the second floor and then I’ll come up to see you, kay?" Jenny agreed readily.
