Chapter 50: Questions to Escalation.

To a scientist, the example of air would never serve as evidence for the existence of a higher being.

If someone pointed toward the unseen nature of air and claimed it to be proof of something divine, a scientist would simply shake their head. They would explain that air wasn’t some mystical phenomenon but a mixture of measurable elements. They would demonstrate its existence through observation, experimentation, and evidence, carefully distinguishing the air itself from the elements that composed it. If asked where air came from, they would simply continue tracing its origin further back—toward the formation of the world itself.

Should another question arise beyond that...

They would eventually draw a line.

"I’ve answered the question you asked. The fact that air cannot be seen doesn’t make it miraculous. It simply means there are things that exist whether or not our eyes can perceive them."

A psychologist would likely see it differently.

To them, breathing wasn’t merely about air. It was behavior, instinct, emotion, and the countless ways a simple breath could influence the human mind. The same act could calm fear, ease anxiety, or restore clarity. What interested them wasn’t the air itself, but the one drawing it into their lungs.

A philosopher, however...

Would see an entirely different question.

They would care less about proving that air existed and more about what the existence of something unseen implied. They would question the limits of perception, the nature of knowledge, and whether reality could extend beyond what the senses were capable of grasping.

The observation remained exactly the same.

Only the questions changed.

Roman slowly closed his eyes.

Then...

What about a thinker?

An observer.

Someone who spent their life searching not merely for answers, but for reassurance that something greater than themselves might truly exist.

If such a person stood before the same unseen air...

What kind of question...

Would they choose to ask?

Luckily...

Roman wasn’t speaking to scientists.

Nor psychologists.

Nor philosophers debating the nature of existence.

The ones sitting before him were different.

They were thinkers.

Observers.

People who had only just begun questioning the world around them, quietly searching for the possibility that something greater than themselves might exist.

To such people, the purpose of an example was never to prove an absolute truth.

It was to awaken a question.

And once a question took root within the mind, it naturally sought an answer.

That was why Roman chose his words so carefully.

To a scientist, the air, the trees, or even the sun were simply phenomena waiting to be explained.

To the Magnari...

Those very same things could become the beginning of an entirely different journey.

Not because they were miracles in themselves...

But because they hinted at the possibility that the world might be far greater than what they had once believed.

Sometimes...

A single question, asked in the right way...Could become the greatest miracle of all.

Roman shifted his attention towards the Magnari’s.

Every Magnari had quietly fallen into their own thoughts, repeatedly turning over the same questions inside their minds. What was the Void Null? What truly was nothing? If something invisible like air could exist, then what else might exist beyond the reach of their eyes?

Gre Ka Go made no attempt to interrupt them.

He simply returned to his seat, gently pouring himself another bowl of the unfamiliar sauce before dipping another slice of meat into it. Every now and then, his eyes would drift toward the Magnari, yet he never spoke, allowing the silence to continue undisturbed.

It was Gree Ma Go who finally broke it.

".Then perhaps the Void Null is like the air."

Several heads turned toward him.

"The air cannot be seen, yet it exists."

An elder slowly shook his head.

"No.If that were true, then the Tribal Chief wouldn’t have called it ’Void’ or ’Null.’ Air is something. We simply cannot see it."

"Then..."

Another Magnari frowned.

"...Could the Void Null be what surrounds the air?"

A Magnari quenched their eyes.

"...Surrounds it?"

"Yes."

He scratched his head awkwardly.

"When we throw a stone, it travels somewhere before striking the ground. When smoke rises from the fire, it also travels somewhere. If air exists... then where does it exist?"

"..."

"..."

"I... never thought about that."

A younger Magnari suddenly looked toward the open doorway.

"Then what about the sky?"

Everyone instinctively followed his gaze.

"The sky looks empty.Yet birds fly through it.Smoke rises into it.Rain falls from it."

"So..."

He hesitated before voicing the thought.

"Is the sky truly empty?"

"No."

Someone answered almost immediately.

"It cannot be."

"If it were truly nothing..."

"...then where would the birds fly?"

The discussion slowly gathered momentum.

Each answer gave birth to another question.

Each question led to another possibility.

Gre Ka Go quietly listened while continuing his meal. Time passed unnoticed as the discussion gradually took on a life of its own, each question giving birth to another while every Magnari became increasingly engrossed in their own thoughts. Finishing the last of his meal, he slowly looked around the room before letting out a satisfied hum.

’That’ll do... for now.

The thought quietly disappeared from his mind. He raised one hand, intending to strike the wooden table and bring the Magnari back from the worlds of thought they had wandered into.

Yet before his hand could descend...

An unbearable pressure crashed down upon his very being.

His body instantly stiffened.

The scene before him began blurring with every passing heartbeat as a violent ringing filled his ears. Gritting his teeth, he instinctively grabbed the edge of the table to steady himself, only to feel the pressure intensify even further, as though something incomprehensibly vast had suddenly fixed its gaze upon him.

The next instant—

A thick trail of blood spilled from the corner of his mouth before splattering across the wooden table.

Drip...

Drip...

The sudden sound instantly shattered the Magnari’s discussion. Every pair of eyes snapped toward Gre Ka Go, their earlier curiosity replaced by alarm as they watched him tremble beneath an invisible force they couldn’t perceive.

Then...

A crimson translucent panel abruptly materialized before his eyes.
