Chapter 130: Fairytale room
There are a lot of interesting things in Stanox. Things that you wouldn’t believe unless you see it with your own eyes.
There are creatures here that you would want to compare to the demonic beasts of the demon forest, but without the demonic elements.
The Academy is one of the most advanced institutions so, even though this place looks seemingly normal from the outside, it is nothing normal.
There are a lot of unique things in this place, things that do not make sense. Things are better kept secret from the masses, and this inn that offers these unique services is one of them.
"Wow..."
"This is... is this real?"
"Technically, yes. You can call this as real as things can be."
We were inside the worst looking old, rundown place a moment ago and now we are inside a lush green garden with colorful trees all around us, with flowers glowing beneath us and with winds of the most serene nature flowing all around us.
There were fountains in this garden, there was a waterfall not far from here, and the trees present in this place were so breathtaking that seeing this place even from down here made us gasp.
’It’s the same feeling every time I come here.’
The person that we saw in the inn was, in a way, a Professor of the academy, one that looked after a very specific kind of Mystic arts.
She was able to create physical separate realities that would seem as real as anything and at the same time as distinct from reality as anything can be.
She was a master mage, a mystic arts specialist, and above all, she was the best <Illusionist> in this world.
The <Whimsical Inn> as the headmaster calls it, is her passion project.
She had put in a lot of effort into creating this world. And she takes pride in it.
"I want you to look around this place with your beasts. You might find this place more inspiring than any museum or skill display."
This place had all the things that one might find in the so-called fairytales, including the most important things, Fairies.
[ "Keheheheh~." ]
[ "Guests~! We have guests!" ]
[ "Ohhh~. I’ll take the boys this time~!" ]
[ "Then the lady is all ours~!" ]
Much of the things in this world were perfect illusions, but not the creatures that lives in this world.
"Hmm...? Wait, are those?"
"Yup. They are real too."
Butterfly-like wings, small human-like bodies, made entirely of magical energies like the spirits of nature, but born of a state that one can compare to the triple points: they were entities who were spiritual, mortal, and immaterial at the same time.
They were the start of all the fairytales, and they were the dreams that children experience.
"They are going to look after us while we’re here."
The fairies employees of the whimsical inn: semi-spiritual entities who were born with the ability to travel between the different realms at will.
In the entire world, there are few places where you can meet the fairies with certainty. The academy being one of those places, and even within the academy, outside of the fixed classes that these creatures attend, this inn is the place that has housed them for several centuries.
They are magical beings blessed with the ability to command the spirits at will like those blessed-ones as Alex.
[ "Hehe~. Come with me, pretty lady~." ]
They were as bright as the sunshine here and as efficient at what they do as a master of work.
The moment we arrived here, they first took each one of us to an individual sitting area covered in marble and precious rocks.
There, they cleaned up our bodies with water, wind, and heat magic, making us so refreshed so quickly that it almost fried our minds.
But if that wasn’t enough, they also magically changed the clothes we were wearing and turned them into something traditionally ornamental, thin, and breathable.
They were like those inn-clothes that you get in the highest end inns, but much better than them.
They were made with fairy magic as well, so they were something one cannot just buy with money.
"Hello."
[ "Hello~!" ]
The fairy was using a unique technique to communicate with us right now. All we can actually hear were twinkling sounds coming from them.
It was like small bells were playing whenever they talked but then their voices would externally get translated and reach us.
It was the doing of this domain. In this place, the language barrier falls and anyone can communicate with anyone they want.
That is also a reason most international diplomatic talks secretly happen in this ’High garden’.
"You’re so pretty. Can I give you a gift?"
[ "A gifttttt~? Yes yes yes! I would love a gift!" ]
The fairy that was looking after me had green wings and she was wearing blue clothes that seemed to be made from leaves.
She was also wearing healed shoes, something that did not make sense, but it was also a distinct feature of this specific fellow.
I knew her from my past life. I have been here enough times to know all the nine fairies that are present in this garden.
"Here."
The thing that I took out from my storage ring was a small bag of cookies that Alex had made specially for me.
When she gave them to me, she wanted me and me alone to enjoy it.
She had given them to me with the purest of emotions, so, for the fairies, beings who mainly sense, interact, and enjoy pure emotions, these sweets were the best gift there could be.
[ "Wow! Wooooooooow! This is so goooooooood!" ]
She was eating the snack that I gave her, one that was twice her size, but the thing that enjoyed the most were the innocent pure emotions that resided inside the cookie.
[ "Wait! I will go share this with the others as well! This is sooooooooo good!" ]
The best way to win these creatures over was through something like this. They would not turn down a gift even if they were an employee of this place.
They loved interacting with new people since they knew the only people who do get here are the ones who had earned the trust of the owner of this domain.
It was not an easy task. In the first place, the owner doesn’t give this special access to just anyone even if they spend an absurd price for it.
I had my knowledge advantage, so this was the best resting spot we could ask for.
’If only Nyx was with us...’
He was missing out on some real fun right now, that little bird.
’Just where is he right now anyways?’
I was worried about it for a moment but then the green fairy returned along with all of her fairy friends.
[ "Mister! This was so good!" ]
[ "Mister! Thank you!" ]
[ "Yesssss! Thanks for the gift~!" ]
"Haha, my little sister made that. I’m glad you enjoyed it."
It is said that a fairy is born from the very first laughter of a baby. And if we do believe that, then we can say that children are special for those special little fairies.
If you give them a gift...
[ "Ohhh! Your little sister?" ]
[ "We should get something for her as well!" ]
[ "Yessss~! Mister, just you wait~! We will get her a gift as well~!" ]
"Oh, goodness. I’m certain that she will love it."
Aside from the Unicorns, the fairies were the most pure creatures of nature.
’Alex would love them if she were to see them.’
And perhaps she will get to see them when she comes to the academy when she’s a little older.
But until then, she will have to be happy with their gift alone.
