Chapter 380: What, You Dislike Me?
Shen Nian gave a helpless smile. There was nothing she could do; she didn’t want this either, but you can’t stop people who are determined to stir up trouble.
"Alright, alright, let’s get acquainted first. We’ll have plenty of time to chat later. Don’t forget, we have a big mission today!"
Seeing that Zhang Ying looked like she could talk all day once she got started, Lin Jingyun quickly cut in. Otherwise, all their time would be spent chatting, and they wouldn’t accomplish any of the things they wanted to do or buy a single item they needed!
"Right, right, let’s get going! I already asked around. A vehicle is heading out in a bit, so we can catch a ride."
"Okay, let’s go!"
Though they had only exchanged a few words, Shen Nian already had a great impression of Zhang Ying. It was no wonder Lin Jingyun had introduced them. One look was enough to tell they were cut from the same cloth.
’Since she liked Lin Jingyun, she was sure she would quickly grow to like Zhang Ying too.’
"Sister Yingzi, how many months along are you?"
Once they were in the outbound vehicle, the chance for some idle chat had finally arrived. Shen Nian had been the one to ask, her eyes on Zhang Ying’s small baby bump.
"A little over four months now. This is pretty much the only time I can still walk around freely. If it were too early or too late in the pregnancy, I wouldn’t have this much freedom, you know!"
Although Zhang Ying’s words sounded like a complaint, the way she gently caressed her belly with both hands and the loving expression on her face made it clear she was actually reveling in the experience. She was full of anticipation for the baby in her belly.
Shen Nian nodded. The fourth and fifth months of pregnancy were indeed the safest period, so it was no wonder Zhang Ying was still willing to go out with them.
The first three months or the last three would be too nerve-wracking, but during the fourth and fifth months, as long as there were no unexpected issues, going out and about was perfectly fine.
"Wow, to think you’re already over four months along. Time really flies."
Lin Jingyun couldn’t help but remark with a sigh upon hearing Zhang Ying’s words.
"It really does! So many families have come and gone in our compound. I’ve been hoping for ages for a friend to show up who’s around my age and who I can really click with. Now, my wish has finally come true!"
Zhang Ying said, smiling at Shen Nian. It was clear that meeting her had put her in an excellent mood.
"What’s that supposed to mean? Are you saying I’m too old for you or something?"
Lin Jingyun said, looking at Zhang Ying. However, the smile on her face gave her away; her words were just a bluff, and she wasn’t the least bit angry.
"Sister Jingyun, listen to yourself! How could I possibly complain that you’re too young? You’re the prettiest flower in our entire compound!"
"Hmph, no use, no use! I’m holding a grudge now!"
"Oh no, what should we do? Xiao Nian, our Sister Jingyun is holding a grudge. Maybe from now on, it’ll just be the two of us!"
"You dare leave me behind? Just see if I don’t teach you two a lesson!"
"Uh oh, uh oh, Sister Jingyun’s getting feisty! Hahaha!"
The three of them laughed and bantered the whole way, and before they knew it, they had arrived in downtown B City. Thanks to the chatting along the way, they had grown much closer.
After getting out of the car, the three of them took a bus to the same supermarket where Shen Nian had shopped before.
"This is the place. I bought them here last time."
"Then let’s hurry inside! Yingzi, let me tell you, the curtains Xiao Nian bought for her place are gorgeous."
"Sister Jingyun, you’ve already said that several times! Let’s hurry up and go pick some out, or all the pretty ones will be gone!"
"Let’s go, let’s go!"
Shen Nian trailed behind the two of them, shaking her head with a helpless smile as she watched them. Then, she hurried to catch up.
