Chapter 338: Who’s Really Gone Too Far?
It was no wonder Shen Nian was suddenly so firm. She really didn’t want to waste too much time on Liu Fanglan, much less fuel her arrogant attitude.
"You..."
"Of course, if Sister-in-law Liu doesn’t want to transplant them, that’s an option too..."
Hearing Shen Nian say this, Liu Fanglan’s expression changed as she looked at her. ’Could it be? Did Shen Nian change her mind?’
However, Shen Nian’s next words quickly shattered that notion.
"If Sister-in-law Liu looks down on those vegetables and doesn’t want to transplant them, I don’t mind going to the trouble of hiring someone to till the land. Anyway, it’s our family’s land. I’ll till it if I want to, and no one can blame me for it, right?"
"Shen Nian, don’t you go too far!"
"Am I going too far? Sister-in-law Liu, when you were out spreading rumors about me yesterday, did you ever stop to think if *you* were going too far? Anyway, I’ll still give you three days. But after that, whether you’ve transplanted them or not, I am tilling that land, and that’s final!"
After saying her piece, Shen Nian didn’t bother waiting for Liu Fanglan’s reaction. She simply turned, opened her front door, and went inside.
Left outside, Liu Fanglan stared at the closed door across from her, her face contorting with rage.
"Shen Nian, you’re really something. Just you wait! I’d like to see just how arrogant you can be then!"
If Liu Fanglan hadn’t been completely decided before, she was now. She couldn’t be bothered with the consequences anymore.
She wanted to see Shen Nian utterly ruined and disgraced. She wanted to watch her be despised by everyone!
Shen Nian had no idea what Liu Fanglan’s reaction was after she went inside. Of course, she didn’t particularly care, either.
In fact, telling Liu Fanglan off so bluntly made Shen Nian feel fantastic. ’When you meet a real piece of work like her, it’s best to just confront them head-on. No need to be so considerate!’
’Besides, Lu Cheng already said that with some people, you don’t need to hold back.’
’And her time was so precious, with so much to do. Where was she supposed to find the time to waste on Liu Fanglan?’
She had to go to the Chu Family’s home tomorrow. Although Lu Cheng said she didn’t need to prepare anything else, it would still be nice to make some of her signature pastries to bring as a thoughtful gesture.
So, before Lu Cheng returned, Shen Nian focused all her attention on making pastries. It was fine if she made too many; Lu Cheng could just take them to his colleagues.
While Shen Nian was perfectly calm, Liu Fanglan, across the way, was anything but.
Even though a while had passed since she and Shen Nian had both returned to their respective homes, Liu Fanglan was still seething.
Even when it was time to make dinner, she hadn’t moved an inch.
"Mama, I’m hungry! Why haven’t you started cooking yet?"
Liu Fanglan’s son, Luo Xiaohu, asked as he walked up to her, clutching his rumbling stomach. His mother was usually cooking by this time, but today she hadn’t moved.
"What are you shouting for? So what if you miss one meal!"
Liu Fanglan looked at Luo Xiaohu, her mind flashing back to yesterday. It was because of his sudden appearance and what he’d said that she had been subjected to so much ridicule. On top of that, Luo Xiaohu had devoured all of those snacks from Dingshi Restaurant that everyone had been raving about, not leaving her a single piece.
Now, looking at Luo Xiaohu made Liu Fanglan’s heart fill with rage; there wasn’t a trace of a mother’s love for her son left in her.
Luo Xiaohu flinched at his mother’s scolding. He took two miserable steps back, his eyes filling with tears as he looked at Liu Fanglan in fright.
Just then, their front door opened. The man walking in was none other than Liu Fanglan’s husband, Luo Bin, the deputy group leader of Group Four.
"What’s all the shouting about! I heard you before I even stepped through the door! It’s late, you haven’t made dinner, and you’re yelling at our son. What do you think you’re doing?!"
