"That’s right! I was just sent to give you the message. You should hurry downstairs, the person looking for you is waiting!"
With that, the woman turned and left.
Shen Nian frowned. ’Why do I get the feeling that messenger sounded like she was gloating, like she was eager to watch a good show?’
’Is someone trying to stir up trouble again?’
’Or was I just imagining things? Maybe someone really is looking for me.’
’I should go down and take a look. Anyway, this is the staff residence complex, so nothing major can happen. I won’t go far. At most, I’ll just peek downstairs. If no one’s there, I’ll come right back. And if someone really is looking for me, I shouldn’t be rude.’
But when she got downstairs, Shen Nian discovered that there seemed to be a lot more people than she had expected.
’Don’t tell me all these people are waiting for me?’
Shen Nian scanned the area and quickly spotted two people in the very center of the crowd. The others were probably just onlookers. ’Those two, I’ll bet, are the ones who are really here for me.’
Shen Nian gave a wry, internal laugh. ’Looks like I’m quite the celebrity. I’ve only just arrived, and someone’s already shown up at my door to cause trouble. And it’s a woman, no less!’
As for the man standing beside the woman, Shen Nian recognized him too. Wasn’t he the one who’d tried to ask her for directions earlier? Besides, judging by the surprised look on his face, it was obvious he wasn’t the one leading the charge. The real instigator was the woman beside him.
’A woman! Don’t tell me a love rival has already popped out of the woodwork?’
’Of course, I figured a love rival might show up after I moved here. It can’t be helped; Lu Cheng is just that outstanding!’
