Chapter 284: Filled with Anticipation
At that moment, Lu Cheng was leading his team to complete a protection detail.
They were one step closer to completing their mission.

Perhaps it was because Shen Nian was in the most comfortable sleeper car arranged by the He Family, which was quiet and uncrowded. Or perhaps, it was simply because she was so consumed with longing.
The entire trip was uneventful, without a single incident. This came as a small surprise to Shen Nian, who had been worried about her propensity for attracting trouble.
After getting off the train, Shen Nian started to worry about what to do with all the luggage she was carrying.
They had been such a hassle to bring all the way to B City.
But with so many people at the train station, she couldn’t find an opportunity to stuff everything into her pocket dimension!
Just as Shen Nian was agonizing over her dilemma, she heard a voice.
"Mrs. Lu! Mrs. Lu! Over here! Look over here!"
Shen Nian looked in the direction of the voice and saw a familiar face. It was obvious the person was calling out to her.
Before Shen Nian could say anything, the man quickly ran up to her.
"Hello, Mrs. Lu. I’m Wang Xi, a colleague of Mr. Lu. We’ve met before."
"Yes, I remember you. What are you doing here? Did you come specifically to pick me up?"
Hearing Shen Nian say she remembered him, Wang Xi beamed. He couldn’t stop smiling.
"I can’t believe you actually remember me, Mrs. Lu. I’m so honored! Before our group leader left for his mission, he told me that if he wasn’t back by the time you arrived, I had to come pick you up. You called a while back, so I estimated your arrival time and have been swinging by the station every day. I can’t believe I found you on just my second day of looking!"
Shen Nian was left speechless.
She hadn’t expected that at all. The thought was both amusing and incredibly sweet.
Even though Lu Cheng wasn’t by her side, Shen Nian knew he was always thinking of her. If he were here, he would have definitely been the one to pick her up.
"Thank you for going to all this trouble, Wang Xi."
"No trouble at all! Plenty of guys wanted to fight me for a mission like picking you up, Mrs. Lu. Too bad for them, they couldn’t win!"
Shen Nian couldn’t help but laugh at the proud look on Wang Xi’s face.
’Lu Cheng probably chose Wang Xi to come because I’d met him before!’
"You have a beautiful smile, Mrs. Lu! You shouldn’t be carrying all this. Here, give it all to me!"
"There are a lot of bags. I can carry a couple."
"No, no, give them all to me! All you have to do is be here, Mrs. Lu. Leave the heavy lifting to me!"
Shen Nian was at a loss for words.
Shen Nian watched as Wang Xi snatched up all the bags that had been sitting on the ground. She shook her head in resignation. ’Lu Cheng’s colleague is actually pretty endearing!’
Wang Xi had brought a company car. An hour later, Shen Nian arrived at the main gate of the compound, which she had visited once before.
After they got out of the car, Wang Xi again took all the luggage himself and led Shen Nian toward the living quarters.
But Shen Nian’s memory was telling her that this wasn’t the path she had walked with Lu Cheng before.
"Wang Xi, are we going the wrong way?"
"Not at all! Last time, Mrs. Lu, you went to the group leader’s dorm. Now we’re going to the house he was assigned in the family residences. His application was approved before he left on his mission; it’s just been waiting for you to get here."
"Oh, I see!"
Shen Nian had assumed she would be staying in Lu Cheng’s dorm again. She never expected that his application for family housing had already been approved.
’This is even better, though. Now I can use the time before Lu Cheng gets back to decorate our home.’
’That’s right, *our* home. She and Lu Cheng would likely be living here for a long time to come.’
