Chapter 286: The Reconnaissance Failed
Li Feng, an experienced special agent, headed to Flying Tiger Island with the security team, armed with a map and weapons. He was prepared to eliminate the Flying Tiger Gang in one fell swoop.
On Flying Tiger Island, Li Feng and the security team members carefully studied the map and formulated a detailed plan. They intended to use the island’s terrain and resources to wipe out the Flying Tiger Gang in one go.
On the night before the operation, Li Feng and the security team were in a small seaside cabin, discussing the details of their plan. Suddenly, they heard the sound of gunshots and shouting in the distance.
They realized it was a trap and immediately drew their weapons.
Before long, a group of armed men burst into the cabin, surrounding Li Feng and the security team.
Just then, Zhao Feihu appeared. He sneered as he informed Li Feng and his team that he already knew about their plan and had set this trap for them.
Li Feng and the security team fought back bravely, but they were ultimately overwhelmed by superior numbers and captured.
They were taken to a remote fishing village and imprisoned in a crude warehouse.
Inside the warehouse, Li Feng and the team members discussed how to escape. They discovered the warehouse door wasn’t locked, but there were guards posted at the entrance.
So, they decided to make a move, planning to rush out when the guards weren’t paying attention.
Before taking action, Li Feng sent a team member to scout ahead. The scout returned and told them there was a small pier not far away. If they could reach it, they could find a boat to get off this godforsaken island.
So, Li Feng and his team finalized their plan, preparing to break out that night.
That night, the guards let their guard down. Li Feng and his team seized the opportunity and burst out of the warehouse. They sprinted all the way to the small pier and successfully found a boat.
The operation was a failure, but it was an important attempt. In any case, the men suffered few casualties, so they could reshuffle the deck and start over.
In his office, Chen Qingdi sat at a large desk, surrounded by his most trusted subordinates. He took a deep breath and then spoke with great solemnity.
"Chen Yuan, you must remember, no matter when or where, you cannot let your guard down for a moment. During this time, you will take on all of the company’s affairs and fulfill the role of acting chairman."
Chen Yuan nodded silently. He knew this was his responsibility. He had worked at this company for many years, always following Chen Qingdi, and had earned his deep trust.
"Boss, can I go with you to the Outer Island to destroy the Flying Tiger Gang?" Chen Yuan asked.
Chen Qingdi shook his head. "The company’s affairs need you to manage them. I can’t let you take that risk."
"But, Boss..." Chen Yuan said, unwilling to accept it.
"Enough. I know your heart is in the right place," Chen Qingdi interrupted him. "But this operation requires an elite force and absolute secrecy. By staying here, you can better maintain control of the company’s situation."
Chen Yuan said no more. He knew Chen Qingdi’s decision was final. He silently committed Chen Qingdi’s instructions to memory, preparing to act on them immediately.
Chen Qingdi watched Chen Yuan’s retreating back with satisfaction. He knew this young man was trustworthy. He turned his head and spoke to two other men.
"Dong Kui and Li Tao, you two get ready. You will follow me to the Outer Island. I’m taking the company’s security team. They are the unit I trust the most."
Dong Kui and Li Tao replied in unison, "Boss, we will not let you down!"
Chen Qingdi nodded. "Good! Go and assemble the security team now. We must be fully prepared to depart at a moment’s notice."
Dong Kui and Li Tao immediately got up and left to assemble the security team. Chen Qingdi remained seated in his office, lost in thought. He knew he was about to face a tough battle.
But his eyes shone with resolute determination. No matter how many difficulties and dangers lay ahead, he would not back down.
Not long after, the security team assembled in the company plaza. Dressed in black uniforms and holding various weapons, they looked incredibly formidable. When they saw Chen Qingdi walk out of his office, they immediately saluted him.
"Greetings, my brothers!" Chen Qingdi boomed. "This time, I will be leading you to the Outer Island to eliminate the Flying Tiger Gang. This will be an arduous battle, but I believe that with your help, we will certainly be victorious!"
The members of the security team roared in unison, "The Boss is mighty! The Boss is invincible!" Their voices echoed across the entire plaza.
Chen Qingdi continued, "Now, I need you all to make your final preparations. We will depart at dawn in three days. So tonight, rest well and prepare for battle."
"Yes, Boss!" the security team members responded in unison.
Zhao Feihu had his own methods for gathering intelligence, which made him exceptionally sensitive to any stirrings of trouble on the streets.
One day, Zhao Feihu was sitting in his lavish office at the gang’s headquarters, a cigar in his hand, with several of his Hall Masters before him. These Hall Masters were all trusted followers who had been with him for many years, each one an expert fighter capable of taking on a hundred men.
"I’ve recently received word that Chen Qingdi wants to come and clean us up." A cold sneer played on Zhao Feihu’s lips as he tossed the intelligence report onto the table.
"Chen Qingdi?" one of the Hall Masters asked with a look of disdain. "Hasn’t he only been so successful because of his relationship with Shen Mingyue? If he weren’t Shen Mingyue’s man, what would he be?"
Zhao Feihu burst out laughing. "Exactly. Shen Mingyue is the chairwoman of the Mingyue Group, controlling tens of billions in assets. As for Chen Qingdi, if it weren’t for his relationship with her, he wouldn’t be worth a damn. And now he wants to cause trouble for us? That’s utterly ridiculous."
Another Hall Master chimed in, "Gang Leader, we can’t afford to underestimate Chen Qingdi. For him to become Shen Mingyue’s man, he must have some extraordinary qualities. We should probably strengthen our defenses."
But Zhao Feihu shook his head. "You’re underestimating me. I saw through Chen Qingdi’s true nature long ago. He’s just a useless freeloader who lives off a woman. We don’t need to change a thing for him. We’ll just carry on as usual."
And so, Zhao Feihu paid Chen Qingdi no mind, continuing to live his life as he always had—drinking and carousing every day, enjoying himself.
Meanwhile, Chen Qingdi was meticulously planning an operation against the Flying Tiger Gang. He knew that to truly establish a foothold in the city, he first had to defeat this formidable opponent.
Zhao Feihu remained completely unaware of Chen Qingdi’s actions. In his eyes, Chen Qingdi was just an insignificant nobody, not worth a moment of his attention.
It was precisely this underestimation of his enemy that led Zhao Feihu, step by step, toward the abyss of failure, all while he remained completely oblivious.
