He looked into Shen Mingyue's eyes. "I think we need to consider whether we should have a future together."

Shen Mingyue's eyes widened as she looked at him. "You mean... you want to divorce me?" Her hand went limp, and her phone fell to the ground.

"I just think..." Before Chen Qingdi could finish, Shen Mingyue cut him off.

"No! I won't allow it!" Shen Mingyue's voice was firm. "If we're not together, it's no different from being dead to me!" Tears were already streaming down her face.

Chen Qingdi opened his mouth to say something but ultimately said nothing. He silently pulled Shen Mingyue into a hug. "I understand," he whispered in her ear. "I'll do everything I can to fix what's broken between us."

In the days that followed, Chen Qingdi and Shen Mingyue worked together to repair their marriage. They saw a therapist and tried to communicate with Yao Shufen.

Though it was a difficult process, they both believed it was worth the effort to save their marriage.

One day a month later, Chen Qingdi and Shen Mingyue were at a coffee shop. Shen Mingyue gazed out the window, feeling wonderfully at ease.

"I feel like our marriage is back to how it was in the beginning." She turned to look at Chen Qingdi. "Thank you."

Chen Qingdi smiled at her. "This was a joint effort." He took her hand. "I love you," he said with deep emotion. "No matter what happens, I will always be by your side."

"Mr. Chen, we just received a call from the hospital. Ms. Yao Shufen has woken up, but she's being extremely uncooperative with her treatment. They hope you can get to the hospital as soon as possible," came the serious voice of an employee from the other end of the line.

Chen Qingdi frowned. He knew this was not good news for Shen Mingyue. He looked at her and saw her eyes fill with anxiety and helplessness.

"Mingyue, you should prepare yourself. Your mother may not want to accept treatment," Chen Qingdi said plainly.

Shen Mingyue's eyes widened. "What do you mean? What's wrong with my mother?"

"The hospital called. Your mother's awake, but it seems she doesn't want to stay for treatment. She's been raising a ruckus and saying some very nasty things." Chen Qingdi paused, watching Shen Mingyue's expression change.

"What... What did she say?" Shen Mingyue's voice trembled slightly.

Chen Qingdi fell silent for a moment, then looked directly at Shen Mingyue. "She said your male assistant is a toad lusting after a swan and that he's ruined your family. She said if she's forced to stay in the hospital, she'll smash the place up."

Shen Mingyue's face went pale. She knew her mother's emotional problems had always been severe, but she never imagined her mother could be this out of control. She felt helpless and confused, with no idea what to do.

"Qingdi, I... I don't know what to do," Shen Mingyue said, her voice choked with emotion.

Chen Qingdi gently patted her shoulder. "This is your problem to solve, I can't give you the answer. But I do know that with people like her, you can't afford to be polite."

Shen Mingyue looked up at Chen Qingdi. "Can you help me, then? I don't know what to do."

Chen Qingdi gave a faint smile. "I can help you, but you need to understand that this won't be easy. We need to find a way to calm her down and get her to accept treatment."

Shen Mingyue nodded faintly. "Thank you, Qingdi."

When they arrived at the hospital, Yao Shufen was in her room, screaming and shouting, slapping the table and bed. She glared furiously at the medical staff and at Shen Mingyue as they entered.

"Mom, what's the matter?" Shen Mingyue walked to the bedside, trying to calm her.

"What are you doing here? You shameless thing! You've destroyed our family! I'll beat you to death!" Yao Shufen swung her fists wildly, cursing Chen Qingdi without pause.

Chen Qingdi frowned. He knew Yao Shufen wasn't easy to control. He glanced at the medical staff and saw they were terrified by Yao Shufen's tirade, completely at a loss.

"Could everyone please step out for a moment? I'd like to speak with my mother-in-law alone," Chen Qingdi said to the medical staff.

The medical staff nodded and quickly left the room. Chen Qingdi followed them out, but before he got far, he heard Yao Shufen cursing him even more frantically.

His heart tightened. He knew this couldn't go on. After a moment's thought, he turned and went back into the room.

"Mother-in-law, I know you're very angry, but you can't treat me like this," Chen Qingdi said, walking to the bedside and attempting to reason with her.

"Who are you? I don't know you! Get out!" Yao Shufen glared at Chen Qingdi and shouted.

Chen Qingdi didn't get angry. He gave a faint smile. "You know me."

Yao Shufen froze, seemingly struck by his words. She stopped cursing but continued to glare at him with fury.

"Yao Shufen, you're out of your mind!" Chen Qingdi snarled at the woman on the bed, his eyes filled with disgust.

Yao Shufen, Chen Qingdi's mother-in-law, was also the person he detested most in the world. She had once been a gentle and virtuous woman, but the years had transformed her into an unreasonable, argumentative shrew.

"What gives you the right to tell me what to do? This is my house, and I'll do whatever I want!" Yao Shufen glared at Chen Qingdi, screaming hysterically.

"You..." Chen Qingdi was so furious he was speechless. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.

Just then, his phone rang. It was a call from his loyal subordinate, Chen Yuan.

"Boss, the task you gave me is done. Don't worry." Chen Yuan's voice had an icy edge.

"Good. Get to the hospital right away and deal with Yao Shufen," Chen Qingdi said coldly.

"What? Boss, you're going to seal Yao Shufen's acupoints?" Chen Yuan asked hesitantly.

"Yes. If she dares to make another move, seal her acupoints. Make her lie there quietly for a few days," Chen Qingdi said ruthlessly.

"But, Boss... Yao Shufen is your mother-in-law!" Chen Yuan's voice trembled.

"Just follow orders. Enough with the nonsense!" Chen Qingdi's voice was as cold as ice.

When Chen Yuan arrived at the hospital, he walked into a chaotic scene. Yao Shufen was thrashing on the bed and screaming, while Shen Mingyue stood to the side, trembling.

"Boss, you're here," Chen Yuan said respectfully, stepping forward.

"Mm." Chen Qingdi nodded, then turned to Yao Shufen. "Esteemed Mother-in-law," he said, "perhaps it's time to be quiet."

"What are you supposed to be? How dare you speak to me like that?" Yao Shufen screamed hysterically, glaring at Chen Qingdi.
