Chapter 71: Underwater Palace
If they were to suffocate in the water, it would truly be the end.
Yet, Chen Qingdi remained perfectly calm.
"They aren’t children. A single breath of Inner Strength can let them stay in the water for over two hours."
"Don’t worry,"
Chen Qingdi said.
Although Chen Qingdi said not to worry, he was still somewhat concerned.
He just felt it wasn’t time to enter the water yet and decided to wait a little longer.
He was confident that if they waited, they would eventually uncover the strangeness of these waters.
Ever since he arrived, Chen Qingdi had felt that there was something odd about this stretch of water.
He could easily imagine the Evil God Hall setting traps in the water. He wouldn’t even be surprised if there were monsters.
After all, the Evil God Hall was an ancient and bizarre organization. Their methods were many and varied—from cultivating poisons and building mechanisms to genetic modification, there was little they hadn’t dabbled in.
Many cities had already been infiltrated by the Evil God Hall, its members lurking everywhere.
That was why Chen Qingdi had to show them what he was made of.
The Celestial Cloud Branch was just the beginning. Afterward, Chen Qingdi would use swift and decisive measures to eradicate the other branches of the Evil God Hall.
Another half hour passed in the blink of an eye, yet none of the men who had gone under had resurfaced. Chen Yuan was growing extremely anxious.
Yet when he glanced at Chen Qingdi, he saw that his master remained as composed as ever.
"Master, should we go down and take a look?"
"We can’t just keep waiting like this,"
Chen Yuan said, his voice laced with concern.
"Alright."
Chen Qingdi finally nodded. ’It doesn’t seem right to keep waiting. We have to go take a look.’
With that said, Chen Qingdi tapped the surface of the water with his toes and shot forward.
He reached the center of the waterway in an instant, with Chen Yuan right behind him.
A huge wave suddenly surged toward them.
But the enormous iron pipe failed to appear, and there was no sign of the chains from within it.
Chen Yuan and Chen Qingdi stood atop the waves, supported by their True Energy, waiting for the iron pipe to emerge. But the water’s surface remained relatively calm. The scene they expected never occurred.
"Master, what’s going on? Why is there no reaction at all?"
Chen Yuan scanned the surroundings, his brow furrowing deeper.
He could clearly sense that something was very wrong.
"You feel that something isn’t right, don’t you?"
Chen Qingdi said, glancing at Chen Yuan.
"Yes. When they came here, they were immediately snagged by the chains, but we weren’t. What’s going on?"
"Don’t tell me someone is watching our every move?"
"They know you’re not easy to deal with, Master, so they don’t want to drag you into it."
Chen Yuan ventured his guess.
"That’s a possibility. Since the enormous iron pipe won’t appear, we’ll take the initiative and find it,"
Chen Qingdi said, his expression serene.
Unflinching even if Mount Tai were to collapse before him—that was Chen Qingdi. That was his mettle.
To him, this was just a small matter.
When faced with a problem, one must solve it, not just complain.
With that, Chen Qingdi sank directly into the Golden Armor River.
He hadn’t even reached the main hall of the Celestial Cloud Branch, yet he had already run into so many problems. ’Every step forward from here might be fraught with difficulty.’
This, however, also revealed to Chen Qingdi the profound depths of the Evil God Hall’s power.
The fiends he had met so far weren’t particularly strong. ’I wonder what kind of people I’ll find in the main hall.’
If anything, Chen Qingdi was now starting to look forward to it.
After using the Thousand Gold Weight technique to plunge into the water, Chen Qingdi and Chen Yuan initially found nothing.
"Let’s search the area."
Although he was underwater, a barrier of energy surrounded Chen Qingdi, repelling the water and allowing him to move as if on dry land.
He could even speak as easily as he could on land.
This was no challenge for a Martial Artist at the Guiyuan Realm, let alone for someone like Chen Qingdi.
"Master, I’ll go search the other side."
"I’m sure that if we work together, we’ll make a discovery soon,"
Chen Yuan said.
Chen Qingdi nodded lightly.
He didn’t say anything more.
Chen Yuan immediately darted off in another direction. They had agreed that whoever found something would release a True Qi Golden Light as a signal.
The Golden Armor River was vast, making it quite difficult to find anything in a short period.
But Chen Qingdi wasn’t flustered. Instead, he walked forward at a leisurely pace, carefully observing his surroundings as he went.
Suddenly, he saw an underwater palace ahead of him.
Despite being a man who had seen much of the world, Chen Qingdi was still somewhat astonished by the sight.
He immediately released the True Qi Golden Light from around his body.
Chen Yuan saw it from a distance and immediately sped toward Chen Qingdi, arriving at his side in moments.
"Master, this place is truly extraordinary! There’s actually a palace in the depths of this river,"
Chen Yuan said, his face a mask of astonishment.
Staring at the sight before him, Chen Yuan was genuinely stunned.
"Let’s go take a look. This is a mobile underwater palace. It was in that spot before,"
Chen Qingdi said.
Hearing that it could actually move, Chen Yuan found it even more incredible.
"Really?"
"That’s incredible."
Chen Yuan became even more curious about this underwater palace.
As they approached the underwater palace, they could faintly feel a strange energy emanating from it, which actually held back the surrounding water.
This meant its interior was likely an independent space, unaffected by the current.
"Master, do you think Master Hei and the others are in this palace?"
Chen Yuan asked as they moved forward.
"It’s possible, but they may not be. After all, these waters are full of strange phenomena."
"Perhaps this isn’t the only underwater palace,"
Chen Qingdi said.
As they spoke, the two made their way toward the underwater palace.
To their surprise, however, no matter how they tried to approach the palace, it kept moving, always staying just out of their reach.
Though their True Energy protected them from the water, their speed was still slower than it would be on land.
Meanwhile, inside the palace, huddled in a dim corner, Murong Fei, Qingyan, and Mu Qingfeng stared at their surroundings in confusion.
They still hadn’t made sense of their environment inside the palace, and the light around them was faint.
