Chapter 253: Magneto: What Else Is There to Say? I Surrender [BONUS CHAPTER]

Jean's loss of consciousness brought the violently shaking, crumbling buildings back to stability.

But after the violent upheaval, many of the buildings had already suffered severe structural damage.

Countless chunks of collapsed walls, air-conditioning units, shattered glass, and other debris rained down from above, hurtling toward the people gathered in the streets below.

However, an invisible blood-red radiance instantly swept across all of Washington.

Only then did people look up in shock and realize that the falling debris—chunks of concrete, air-conditioning units, shattered glass, and everything else—had been frozen in midair.

Then, as though time itself had slowed to a crawl, everything began drifting gently toward the ground.

People could even step aside and avoid it with ease.

"Oh my God, this is nothing short of a miracle!"

"It's the Emperor. It must be the Emperor of Terra."

"He saved all of us. He saved Washington and ended the threat of war."

"Ahhh! All hail the Emperor!"

After confirming there was no longer any danger, Professor X's telepathic power had already withdrawn. People's own thoughts and awareness returned. Professor X had not actively invaded their minds, so they still retained their previous memories.

Only then did the residents of Washington realize that it was the Emperor who had saved them.

Why did they think so? Because something the entire world was now extremely familiar with was falling from the sky.

Golden dandelions drifted down in a glittering rain, landing precisely on those in Washington who had been injured for all kinds of reasons and accidents.

The dandelions merged into their bodies, and their wounds visibly healed before their eyes.

The pain vanished without a trace.

It didn't matter whether the injuries were minor or severe.

How could people not cheer in excitement?

Another wave of deafening cheers swept across Washington. If there had only been panic before, now there was only gratitude.

Clearly, this scene was captured by the cameras of the media helicopters in the sky.

Many people even recorded beautiful and deeply shocking images.

Washington's sky was dyed by a sea of blue-white and black-red lightning. Below it were countless collapsed and tilted buildings, while dense crowds filled the open spaces on the streets.

Many people still had fear and terror on their faces.

But when countless golden dandelions fell from the sky, the fear on their faces turned into excitement and fanaticism.

Some even spread their arms while holding their injured children, wives, and friends, hoping to receive the grace of the dandelions that way.

Without doubt, this became a classic image that shook the world.

It also once again brought the world a mainstream belief.

That was, no matter how great the disaster, mankind still had hope in the end.

And the source of that hope was on the distant continent of Eastern Europe, upon the Golden Throne of the empire called Terra, where that supreme Emperor had never shown his face and remained high above all in mystery.

Deities and God were mere illusions, for throughout mankind's recorded history, no deity or God had ever sent down a miracle. But on Terra, such a god truly existed.

No one knew whether this Emperor was human or a god.

But people knew one thing.

He was the guardian of Earth, commanding the Astartes, Raven, and the Grey Knights with both mercy and compassion.

He would protect the Earth, and he would protect mankind.

Rumble!

A bolt of lightning crossed the sky. The sea of thunder slowly scattered, and the dark clouds dispersed with it. Sunlight fell once more, shining upon the broken city of Washington.

People raised their heads, cheering as they welcomed the sunlight bathing them. Perhaps, in their hearts, they were bathing not only in the warm sunlight, but also in the Emperor's mercy.

Only Skye, Jessica, and the unconscious Jean Grey remained in the sky.

Jessica flew forward and caught Jean before she could fall from the sky.

The blazing phoenix of pure energy surrounding her had already vanished, along with the madness on her face, leaving behind only a peaceful calm.

Jessica and Skye exchanged a glance before quickly descending toward the church below.

The moment they landed, Scott Summers, Logan, Storm, and the other X-Men hurried over.

Professor X let out a relieved breath as his wheelchair slowly rolled forward behind them, with Nightcrawler close at his side.

Magneto and his group also approached.

"My deepest gratitude to the great Emperor. Miss Skye, Miss Jessica, please convey my highest respects to him," Magneto said. The flush had already faded from his aged face, and his tone was filled with humility as he addressed the two girls.

He had no choice but to be humble.

Magneto's eyes were exceptionally clear now.

Good grief. What he had witnessed just now had once again exceeded his understanding.

Phoenix Jean, whom he had been completely powerless against, had been knocked unconscious by their Emperor without him even showing up, crossing who knew how many kilometers through empty space to Washington.

Was that something a human could do?

Although Magneto was on the ground, he could still clearly sense the terrifying will that had filled the sky.

A gap at that level was already too large to describe with numbers.

It should be the gap between a lower dimension and a higher dimension.

That kind of gap was not simply destructive power.

After all, if Magneto was willing, he actually had the potential to destroy a planet. Given enough time, he really could do it. This was not boasting.

However, that kind of powerful destructive force was only one form of ability strength.

The gap between higher and lower dimensions came from something deeper.

Understanding, and life level.

For example, Jean. In terms of pure destructive power, what she had displayed just now was nothing particularly extraordinary, yet Magneto still couldn't compare to her.

The reason was simple: the energy dimension she wielded was simply too high, allowing her to interfere with matter itself and reduce it to an atomic state, rendering the magnetic field Magneto was so proud of completely useless.

After recognizing the gap between them and witnessing Matthew's fairness, Magneto did not hesitate to offer his respect.

Old Magneto was a straightforward man. In every aspect, he simply couldn't compare. Matthew possessed true power, true territory, and the ability to provide mutants with a stable place to live—one where they could even continue to grow stronger.

What else was there to say?

He surrendered.

"I will convey it, Mr. Erik," Skye replied.

She glanced at Jessica, who had already handed the unconscious Jean over to Scott, then at Logan, whose face was filled with worry and bitter resentment, as though he wanted to say something. The sight almost made her laugh.

But she quickly suppressed the urge and answered with a serious expression.

"Charles, look at the mess you've made!" Magneto returned Skye's smile before turning to Professor X, his expression changing completely. He glared at him and shouted angrily.

Magneto had never been one to mince words. Even when he wrought destruction, he did so openly, yet he was still regarded as the world's most terrifying terrorist.

Professor X, on the other hand, was regarded as a dove. And yet this very dove had secretly created something called Phoenix Jean—a monster that wanted to destroy the world.

Damn it. This time, even Magneto was genuinely frightened by Professor X.
