Marvel: Sign-In System – Starting with the Glint-Glint Fruit

Chapter 220: Kill Tony Stark? No Rush, Train First

Wanda was working hard.

So was Pietro.

This was the twins' second day at the base, and they had never imagined that the empire's powerful three warbands were forged in such a way.

After their genetic matching was completed and they were injected with the serum, the twins immediately understood what true change meant.

It was like stepping into an entirely different world.

Their once-fragile bodies suddenly possessed explosive power. According to the physical examination results, right after receiving the serum injection, Pietro's physical strength had already reached thirty-five tons.

What was strange was that Wanda's physical strength was actually higher than Pietro's, despite him being male—thirty-nine tons, to be exact.

And it was not only physical strength. Speed, agility, explosive power, endurance—Wanda completely surpassed Pietro in every aspect.

That made Pietro, as the older brother, very dissatisfied.

What did this mean? Wasn't it agreed that the super-soldier gene serum naturally gave men an advantage over women?

Everyone else who received the serum surpassed women in every area. So why was it that when it came to him, his younger sister was pressing him down instead?

Was he being targeted?

Pietro even had a very dark thought—whether the great Emperor had taken a fancy to his sister and secretly opened the back door for her.

Of course, he did not dare say this guess out loud.

He was afraid of being beaten.

Pietro also did not know whether he should be happy about it.

After all, that was the Emperor.

He had personally witnessed the miracle displayed that day. In Pietro's eyes, there was no difference between that and God.

Fortunately, after testing, the Technology Department came to a conclusion.

It was Wanda's ability at work.

Wanda's power was probability manipulation. After the serum entered the body, it optimized the human form to the greatest possible degree—but it was not perfect optimization. Instead, a certain amount of margin remained.

This was a margin for error deliberately left by the scientists of the serum department.

After all, perfection also represented risk.

Especially when it came to strengthening and modifying genes.

The more one pursued perfection, the easier it was for certain risks to appear.

Leaving behind this tiny margin and erasing the risk was, without a doubt, a very worthwhile trade.

But Wanda was different. During the injection, as her body was being strengthened, her ability was greatly activated—a common occurrence among mutants.

Mutants who received the serum generally experienced this. However, the degree of enhancement was usually modest and still required further development and training.

During Wanda's serum-induced physical strengthening, she unconsciously activated and controlled probability, opening the margin for error that had originally been fixed within a certain range and reducing the probability of risk to zero.

So the reason Wanda could surpass Pietro was entirely because she had taken advantage of that margin—one with high risk but very small returns.

Only after hearing this result did Pietro feel a little better.

Of course, more than anything, he was happy.

After obtaining such powerful strength, the twins did not immediately develop the urge to rush to America and kill Tony Stark. Instead, they preserved that hatred as fuel.

For the twins to enter the base, they had also gone through the oath to the Emperor.

It was not a dry oath made of empty lines.

It was a cleansing of the soul.

The twins had personally witnessed the miracle Emperor Matthew displayed. He had healed the Sokovian people. With his mercy, he erased war and swept away the gloom.

Then he quickly established a government, pushed forward reforms, and began developing Sokovia.

Scene after scene, all of it had been seen by the twins with their own eyes.

During those few days, what they saw were faces full of expectation and joy. They saw young children on snowy days wearing clean, warm down jackets, pants, and shoes, holding hands as they laughed and ran through the streets.

That was the scene the siblings had dreamed of through countless days and nights.

For people who had once lived in darkness and experienced despair, these personal experiences were no different from a cleansing of the heart.

Wanda and Pietro were still young, and many of their views were not yet mature.

But they understood one thing—gratitude.

Gratitude and awe could easily turn into loyalty.

That was the tone Matthew had set from the beginning.

Loyalty born from fear of power and worship of authority was indeed easy to obtain, but it was also more likely to twist into something else.

Those above set the example, and those below follow.

Matthew developed divinity, but he also wanted to preserve the warmth within humanity.

Only that kind of loyalty would remain unwavering unto death.

Reacher and Neagley, who had not experienced darkness, as well as Natasha, Melina, and the others who had, all followed Matthew with absolute loyalty because of the philosophy he upheld.

If Matthew had relied purely on overwhelming power to suppress people, could people with their personalities truly remain loyal to him?

All that would be left was fear.

They would become killing machines without the slightest subjective initiative—just like that rotten old man Dreykov.

This kind of brainwashing was different. It was mutual consent. You were happy, I was happy, everyone was happy—the main theme was both sides willingly running toward each other.

Wanda and Pietro were exactly like this. Because of the loyalty that had taken root, the two suppressed the drive of hatred, listened to orders, obeyed commands, and trained.

Yet that suppressed hatred instead became the force pushing them forward.

The siblings wanted to become stronger—strong enough to become official soldiers of the three warbands. After taking their revenge, they would follow the Emperor without hesitation and help develop and strengthen the empire.

They wanted people to live better, more peaceful lives.

They did not want any more children to suffer the same hardships they had.

The only problem was that the training itself was unbelievably intense. That said, the daily schedule was actually quite humane. Every day included plenty of rest and free time, and the base offered a wide variety of entertainment. They could watch television broadcasts from other countries and binge-watch TV dramas.

For those who enjoyed gaming, all kinds of consoles were available. There were also pool tables, basketball courts, and football fields. The only catch was that these sports facilities were all under the effects of gravity magic.

Otherwise, with physiques like theirs, sports would turn into a battlefield. One wrong move, and the game would devolve into superhero football, complete with physics-defying Thunder Beast Shots, Miracle Curve Shots, and all sorts of ridiculous techniques.

As for basketball, even the famous drama Hot Shot would be child's play here.

Jordan, the goat of basketball, would not even compare to a new recruit in this place.

So the sports were restricted under gravity mode. With pressure adjusted through different levels of intensity, the frequency and strength of activity could generally be kept close to that of ordinary people.

They could play while training.

Two birds with one stone.

On the women's side, there were just as many options. With a portal, they could go shopping in any country around the world. The Logistics Department and Information Department had long registered identities in multiple countries—flawless ones that no one could find problems with.

Identity and money were not things they needed to consider at all.

They only needed to think about what to buy.

They just had to gather at the designated location within the required time, then return to the base.

The benefits were maxed out.

Wanda and Pietro could not help praising the place. It was practically heaven.

But the intensity during training time was honestly absurd.

It was the kind of thing that would make an ordinary person explode just by looking at it.

Fortunately, after receiving the serum, their bodies' recovery ability was extremely strong. Otherwise, they might not have been able to endure it at all.
