And so, everyone saw Skye running circles around Reacher, Natasha, Bucky, and the others, who were sitting nearby. In her hand, she still held a bundle of grilled skewers while eating as she ran.

Behind her was BOSS Matthew, "furious" and chasing after her.

The sight made everyone burst into laughter. Neagley even whistled and shouted loudly.

"Awesome, girl! You're the bravest soldier! You challenged BOSS! Don't let BOSS catch you!"

"Hahaha, BOSS is about to catch you, Skye!"

"Trust me, Skye, you'd better eat all those skewers before he does!"

Many soldiers nearby also laughed and joined in the teasing.

Jessica even ran over, planning to show her loyalty by blocking Skye, but several pretty nurses from the Medical Department grabbed her and pulled her into a hug.

It was a good opportunity. They didn't get chances like this often.

Soft yet elastic muscles.

Skye ran wildly through the crowd like a husky that had completely let loose its nature. Matthew chased after her with the speed of a leopard that had taken cough syrup.

In the end, Skye still failed to escape BOSS's demonic claws and was finally caught by the back of her neck.

Skye pitifully tucked her little head in midair, opening her big eyes as she tried to make BOSS feel mercy.

Unfortunately, the merciless Matthew wore a fierce smile. He clamped Skye's neck under his armpit and pressed his chin against her head, rubbing hard.

"Ah, I was wrong, BOSS! It hurts! Stop!"

Skye felt as if her head was about to be drilled through. The pain made the girl scream and beg for mercy.

Unfortunately, Matthew did not listen at all.

Only after torturing and bullying her for a while did he proudly let go. Looking at Skye, who was holding her head with a bitter little face and watery eyes, he huffed and said,

"This is the price for provoking the BOSS. Understand?"

"And if there's a next time, I might actually use Armament Haki."

That threat made Skye's small face turn pale.

He was actually going to use Armament Haki? She did not even dare imagine how painful that would be. So she hurriedly nodded, giving him a flattering smile to show that she would never dare do it again.

Seeing the girl act so obedient and honest, Matthew nodded in satisfaction and leisurely walked away.

Leaving behind a group of companions who looked as if they hated iron for not becoming steel.

"Too weak, Skye."

"Exactly. That was awful, Skye. Why didn't you dare fight BOSS?"

"We definitely need Minister Neagley to fire you, Skye."

Skye was furious and immediately shouted, "Then why don't you dare fight BOSS?"

The surrounding soldiers all burst into laughter and refused to respond. Then, pretending nothing had happened, they threw their arms around each other's shoulders, turned away, drank, and chatted, acting as if they were very busy and had no idea what she was talking about.

Skye snorted coldly, then made a face at those pretentious guys to show her contempt.

"I hate all of you."

Skye lifted her little head, not even wiping her eyes. Her eyes rolled, and while she still looked pitiful, she hurried off to find her big brothers and sisters so she could freeload food and drinks.

Her own barbecue skills were far too terrible.

It was completely inedible.

Skye dashed off again in a flash. The sight made Matthew, who had sat back down, unable to hold back a smile.

"She's become more lively." Natasha, sitting beside him, picked up a bottle of beer and handed it to Matthew, then spoke softly.

Everyone knew Matthew had deliberately been messing around with Skye.

"That's a good thing. If too many things are buried deep inside, they'll explode one day." Melina, the mature older beauty, wore a simple T-shirt and shorts. Compared with her usual seriousness, she now seemed more like a big sister.

The others all nodded as well.

Psychological issues were very important. Otherwise, once they erupted, something could easily go wrong.

There were too many people like that in America.

Every year, plenty of people caused incidents because of psychological problems.

For a special group like theirs, that was even more true.

Fortunately, Skye was still young. There was plenty of time to resolve and mend things.

After that small interlude, Matthew chatted happily with Reacher and the others.

For example, Reacher mentioned wanting to find his former comrades from the investigation corps and bring them in.

He also talked about those comrades' character and conduct.

But Matthew did not mind this aspect much. He trusted Reacher, and he also trusted the system everyone had built together.

Reacher wanting to bring people into the group did not mean using connections to let them directly join the Astartes.

They would still have to go through observation, evaluation, review, missions, and the entire process.

Neagley, on the other hand, brought up another person. Someone who even surprised Matthew.

"Police Commissioner George Stacy?"

Matthew had just clinked bottles with Natasha and taken a sip when he heard Neagley mention this person. He looked over in surprise.

"Yes. This man is quite good. According to the résumé we investigated afterward, although he does have some connections, overall, he rose to this position step by step through merit."

"And he has a strong sense of responsibility. I think we may be able to make contact with him."

"After the Manhattan incident, certain people set their sights on us. He once tried to argue against them, but he didn't have the ability."

Since Neagley had brought up George Stacy, she had naturally already investigated the man thoroughly.

After the investigation, Neagley became even more certain of her own idea.

After his initial surprise, Matthew began to think.

He knew why Neagley wanted to do this.

In the strategic goals Matthew had set at the very beginning, America had not been included at all.

Mainly because America had too many problems.

Due to historical issues, there were major problems from top to bottom, from its system to its construction, from civilian officials to the military, and across every structure.

It was simply one giant mountain of shit-code.

Matthew did not lack combat power. Leaving himself aside, just the Astartes working together with Neagley could sweep through it.

Neagley's Memo-Memo Fruit was far too useful. She could turn the upper levels into their own people in minutes.

But the cost would be too great.

The only way to solve that mountain of shit-code was to destroy it and rebuild it. Destroying it would be easy, but rebuilding it would require enormous manpower and resources.

He did not have that time.

Still, a shit mountain was a shit mountain, but there were plenty of talented people here.

Neagley had taken an interest in George because George was one of those talents.

Of course, it could also be considered casually planting a nail, whether it would be useful or not.

What Matthew was thinking about was George Stacy's daughter.

Gwen Stacy.

The future Spider-Man. Of course, that was not certain yet. The Spider-Man of the main universe might only be Peter Parker.

And it was the damn tech spider in the future who seemed as if he would never grow up, Tony Stark's dear adopted son.

Fortunately, it was not Garfield's Spider-Man, so there would not be that kind of regret in the end.

But Matthew's hobby of changing fate appeared again. Since the main universe's Gwen would not become that heroic and graceful Spider-Man, then she might as well become a Raven soldier.

His collector instinct activated.

And so, Matthew agreed. He also told Neagley that aside from George Stacy, she should pay extra attention to George's daughter.

After the observation period, she could try to make contact with Gwen and guide her into joining the Raven Warband.
