Chapter 170: Surprised, Dormammu?
"What?"
The enormous fluctuation of magical energy made Mordo and Wong force back the zealots in front of them at once, then look toward "Needy."
When they saw that terrifying commotion, the two could hardly believe their eyes.
What was that?
They had never seen this kind of magic before.
Especially the magical energy contained within it. It was far too vast, vast beyond imagination.
What kind of sorcerer used magic like this?
Among the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj, aside from Ancient One, which one of them did not carefully scrape and save every bit when borrowing magical energy?
If they could fight in close combat, they absolutely would not borrow even a little extra magic.
Yet this girl, who looked not even twenty years old, simply did not treat energy as energy at all.
It was too extravagant.
So extravagant that they were already too envious to know what words to use to describe how they felt at that moment.
"Yo-ho~"
Jennifer laughed wildly. Her unrestrained laughter, paired with that delicate face and temperament, carried a wild kind of beauty.
Unfortunately, no one was appreciating it right now.
Jennifer did not care either.
At this moment, she was already immersed in the success of casting the magic she had imagined.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Ripples spread across the golden circular magic arrays. Then, countless weapons formed from pure energy shot toward Kaecilius.
Their speed even surpassed the speed of sound.
Some of these weapons were spears, some were guns, some were cross-shaped swords. There were blades, forks, swords, halberds—every kind of weapon form.
Accompanied by one sonic boom after another, dense volleys of energy weapons launched a saturation bombardment at Kaecilius, sweeping the ground clean.
Terrifying mushroom clouds blossomed inside the Mirror Dimension, and enormous shockwaves swept in every direction.
Even the zealots and Kamar-Taj sorcerers fighting in the distance were forced to stop and raise magic in front of themselves to block it.
Every one of them stared straight at the wildly laughing "Needy" with horrified eyes, as if they were looking at a madwoman.
Jennifer, however, was thoroughly enjoying the bombardment.
This magic was something she had conceived based on the Punch Universe authority Matthew had given her.
With authority over that universe, Jennifer could transform the pure kinetic-particle energy of the Punch Universe into magical energy at any time.
And this borrowing came at no cost.
In a certain sense, when it came to energy, she was infinite.
So she could fully transform that energy into magical energy and construct it into energy weapons, then use magic arrays and the pure energy of kinetic particles from the Punch Universe as propulsion to launch those energy weapons outward.
It was equivalent to combining magic with the characteristics of kinetic-particle energy borrowed from the Punch Universe.
As long as she did not close it, she could bombard her opponent without limit.
It was an extremely practical and violent spell.
The development difficulty of this magic was very low, because the structural code inside was not complicated at all.
The only troublesome points were energy and the Punch Universe's kinetic-particle energy.
This was where Jennifer was clever.
Kaecilius was the first to experience this magic firsthand.
The scene… was almost beautiful in its chaos.
Kaecilius, however, had already gone numb to it.
He had never imagined someone would use magic in such a manner—so crude, yet so extravagant.
Then he was bombarded until his body was nearly shattered.
Just as Jennifer and the other sorcerers believed Kaecilius was undoubtedly dead—
within the endlessly erupting mushroom clouds, an unimaginably terrifying aura suddenly burst forth, so violent that even the entire Mirror Dimension began to tremble.
At the same time, the zealots inside the Mirror Dimension twisted in pain.
Their bodies began to burn. Seeing this, Wong, Mordo, and the other sorcerers could not help taking several steps back, afraid of being tainted by it as they watched in shock and uncertainty.
Amid their wails, the zealots were completely reduced to ash.
In the area where Kaecilius had been bombarded, the aura grew more and more violent, more and more terrifying.
Finally, accompanied by a roar that shook the sky, a massive wave of energy swept out, forcibly shattering the magic arrays Jennifer had constructed.
Jennifer sensed the threat.
"Damn it. Something big is coming out."
Jennifer instinctively tried to open a portal to send Wong, Mordo, and the others out of the space.
However, she found it impossible.
An extremely powerful force was interfering.
"This is bad."
Jennifer felt a flicker of panic.
Then she saw that, amid the sweeping winds, the energy weapons she had launched froze in mid-air before dissipating on their own.
A figure surrounded by black-purple energy slowly rose into the air.
Everyone focused their eyes on it.
It was Kaecilius.
But the current Kaecilius looked extremely wretched. His original yellow sorcerer robes were tattered beyond recognition. The exposed skin was ulcerated from the earlier explosions.
Half of his face had been blown apart, flesh mangled and revealing bone beneath.
He looked as terrifying and ugly as a corpse.
Yet the aura emanating from him was completely different from before.
Especially his eyes—they were filled with brutality and rage.
The surging pressure caused the entire space to shake violently, as if it might collapse at any moment.
"That isn't Kaecilius."
The moment Wong saw this Kaecilius, he spoke with certainty.
Mordo, standing beside him, immediately guessed something and cried out, "It's Dormammu."
"Needy..."
Before Mordo could finish speaking, "Kaecilius" suddenly turned into a black-purple beam of light, tearing through space and dragging a long trail of flame as he shot straight toward Jennifer.
Jennifer immediately tried to counterattack.
Unfortunately, the pressure from a life level far beyond hers pinned her in place by force.
She could only watch helplessly as "Kaecilius" rushed right in front of her and reached out with that hand, now reduced to bone, to grab her.
Time seemed to freeze in that instant.
Just as Jennifer fell into despair, a terrifying flash of black-red lightning streaked across the sky.
The next moment, Matthew's voice sounded beside her ear.
"This won't do. I can't let you harm my dear subordinate, Dormammu."
A figure wrapped in black-red lightning blocked Jennifer's path. His solid back was broad and imposing, and Jennifer stared at him blankly.
"Kaecilius" stopped.
He was forced to stop in midair.
His body was controlled by some unknown power. He tried to break free, but he could not.
Matthew extended one finger and pointed it at "Kaecilius's" forehead. His posture was relaxed and effortless, like an adult holding back a child.
"Matthew…"
"Kaecilius's" ugly face twitched, becoming even more terrifying. Black-purple flames burned in his pupils, reflecting Matthew's figure.
"Surprised, Dormammu?"
Clearly sensing Dormammu's rage through his Observation Haki, Matthew showed a brilliant smile.
He had never once ignored Kaecilius's side.
Especially when he clearly knew that Dormammu stood behind Kaecilius.
Dormammu stared straight at Matthew without saying a word. He knew that any words at this moment would be meaningless.
In his final moments of consciousness, he saw a brilliant display of blue lightning and golden energy tightly intertwined, coiling together.
