Chapter 120 120: Thank You for Taking Care of My Soldier, Magneto
"Magneto?"
Late at night, Matthew had just stepped out of the Mirror Dimension while supporting Natasha, who had been thoroughly beaten for an entire day. Though no injuries could be seen on the surface, he was immediately informed of the situation.
Natasha, acting deliberately weak as she leaned against her boss, revealed the same look of surprise.
"Who's Magneto?" Needy asked with a completely bewildered look.
Although Roscoe was also from a remote small town and at least an adult who had heard many rumors, Needy had been nothing more than a student from beginning to end. Before the Devil's Kettle incident, she was simply someone who minded her own business and focused solely on her studies. She had never heard of anyone named Magneto.
"He's a mutant leader with great ambitions, a painful past, and a very complicated personality," Natasha explained casually.
Then she was pushed away by Matthew.
Seeing the disgusted look on Matthew's face, Natasha was stunned for a moment. She then seemed to realize something, raised her hand and sniffed. There was a sour, foul odor.
Fortunately, Natasha was thick-skinned enough. She straightened up and acted as if nothing had happened.
"Sounds like he might be a decent person," Needy said with a small smile, but she immediately felt a sharp, blade-like gaze sweep over her and quickly turned serious.
"Maybe."
Matthew neither denied nor explained anything. Instead, he fell into thought.
Ever since mutants first appeared, they had always occupied the very bottom of society's chain of discrimination within human civilization.
Matthew had long since taken an interest in this group.
The timing simply had not been right yet.
Back then, he had made a deal with Professor X. While resolving the issue of the nutrient serum, he had also extended a bit of goodwill along the way.
As for Professor X himself, Matthew had no intention of evaluating him. What truly interested him were the students at Xavier's school.
And now, unexpectedly, he had crossed paths with another mutant leader.
Looks like tonight was going to be interesting.
"Needy, come with me."
After speaking, Matthew grabbed Needy and took a step forward. In the next instant, a portal manifested before them; the moment they stepped through, the portal vanished immediately, leaving Natasha no time to react.
Fortunately, Natasha maintained a calm mindset. She knew her own condition well. After being beaten for a full day, she appeared fine externally, but her internal injuries were quite severe.
This had been done intentionally by Matthew.
He wanted Natasha to experience the impact of Haki through this crude and brutal method, and the results had been excellent.
So Natasha's weakness was real. Even if something happened tonight, she had no intention of going. It was better to continue comprehending Haki, because it was extremely important to Matthew and to the plans that would follow.
Natasha would not neglect the greater goal over something minor.
…
Inside the old theater in San Juan.
Following the loud "boom,"
Magneto's expression changed drastically.
Before he could react, his vision blurred. In an instant, he saw Sabretooth Victor's neck being gripped tightly, his entire body lifted into the air.
Mystique finally reacted as well. Her expression changed as she moved to attack, only for Magneto to raise a hand and stop her.
The sudden turn of events threw everyone's thoughts into complete confusion.
Soon, however, all eyes focused on the person who had suddenly appeared.
He was strong and imposing.
Sabretooth Victor was already quite burly, yet he paled in comparison to the man standing before them.
The man wore a black trench coat over a white T-shirt, paired with tactical pants and Martin boots.
He had a buzz cut and exuded an aura of dignity, silence, and raw power.
Like a wild beast, his fierce gaze was locked onto Sabretooth. Even the savage Victor couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine.
As for the soldier Victor had originally been holding, no one even knew when he had disappeared.
Magneto and Mystique Raven turned their heads and discovered that another stranger had appeared at the edge of the stage—a handsome man with a somewhat weathered temperament, dressed similarly to the man before them. In his hands was the soldier whose arm had nearly been torn off moments ago.
"Damn bastard!" After being intimidated by the man's gaze, Sabretooth's feral instincts immediately overwhelmed him. Roaring angrily, he grabbed the arm clutching his neck with both hands. His ten sharp claws dug in as he tried to rip the other man's arm off by force.
Yet Victor quickly discovered in shock that no matter how much strength he used, he could not cause even the slightest damage to that arm.
The man's arm did not move even a little.
The claws that could normally slice through metal could not even cut a single thread from the sleeve of the black trench coat.
"Finished throwing your tantrum, little kitty?"
What wounded Sabretooth the most was the man's emotionless voice.
Victor's eyes widened. The humiliation was unlike anything he had ever experienced, nearly driving him insane.
In his fury, Victor let out a roar.
But the man showed no mercy and applied a slight force, snapping his neck with a crisp "crack." Sabretooth's head tilted limply to the side as if he were dead.
However, the man had clear information and knew of Victor's abilities, so he casually tossed him to the ground and planted one foot on his chest.
His gaze then shifted to the now expressionless Magneto.
"Thank you for taking care of my soldiers, Magneto."
His voice was calm and unhurried.
But everyone present could hear the monstrous fury brewing beneath that calm.
The captain and the other soldiers widened their eyes. Although they did not recognize the newcomers, they knew one thing very clearly.
Anyone who could save them at a moment like this—
and possess such terrifying strength—
had to come from the Astartes Warband they had dreamed of and struggled toward day and night.
"So you're their leader?"
Magneto glanced at Victor, who was pinned beneath the burly man's foot, then looked at the man's face and asked.
"There is only one leader. My name is Reacher. I am their Supreme Warband Commander."
"Warband Commander?"
Magneto's heart sank.
Beneath his proud and arrogant exterior, Magneto possessed a sharp mind. From that title alone, he immediately deduced a terrifying truth he was unwilling to believe.
Reacher stood nearly two meters tall with a massive frame, yet he possessed speed so great that even Magneto could not react in time.
And power strong enough to effortlessly suppress Sabretooth.
One had to know that Sabretooth's strength exceeded ten tons. He could easily hurl a police car with one hand, yet he still couldn't break free from the man's grip.
Moreover, as someone with magnetic abilities, Magneto also had his own form of perception.
The magnetic field of life.
Since developing this ability, Magneto could easily gauge the strength of any living being's life force.
An ordinary person's life force was like the flame of a lit match.
But in Magneto's eyes, Reacher was like a volcano on the verge of eruption.
The scorching magma could engulf the entire old theater at any moment.
And it wasn't just him—the man standing at the edge of the stage had a life magnetic field that was in no way inferior to Reacher's.
