Chen Qing followed that duty disciple through a grove of emerald bamboo, and the view opened suddenly before him.
Several bamboo buildings were scattered across a mountain hollow, built to follow the contours of the terrain, connected to each other by winding paths of broken stone.
The duty disciple led Chen Qing to the most central bamboo building, stopping outside the door. He turned and cupped his fists, "Sect Master, please wait a moment. I will go and report."
Chen Qing gave a slight nod and stood quietly to wait.
A moment later, the duty disciple came out of the bamboo building and bowed in invitation. Only then did Chen Qing step inside.
The interior was extremely spare, with a bamboo table, a few bamboo chairs, and a set of rough clay tea things on the table.
Chen Qing sat down in a bamboo chair, resting the Jingzhe Spear across his knees, and waited quietly.
Before long, the sound of several sets of footsteps came from outside the bamboo building.
Chen Qing rose to his feet, his gaze turning toward the door.
