At the rear courtyard of the Myriad Techniques Peak, autumn had already deepened. More than half the leaves had fallen from the old scholar trees in the courtyard, the withered yellow blanketing the bluestone path, rustling underfoot with every step. The wind came down from the mountain ravine, carrying in it a faint edge of frost.
Chen Qing and Lady Han had just finished their meal and were strolling out from the front reception hall.
