Chapter 138: The Lotus Cascades

Seraphel

"Where are we?" I asked softly, my voice barely a whisper as Azriel lowered me with gentleness in front of a cascading waterfall.

The crystal-clear water tumbled down from a towering cliff, carving through a luminous stone archway that looked just like a hidden cave. Sunlight caught the mist in the air, weaving a brilliant, glowing rainbow directly over the turquoise pool below.

"Wow! A rainbow!" I exclaimed, my breath catching before Azriel could even answer. I clapped my hands together in sheer delight, my eyes sparkling as I took in the magical sight. "I can’t believe a place like this actually exists here!"

I couldn’t hide my excitement because it had been so long since I’d seen anything so breathtaking.

When Azriel carried me away from the meeting and summoned his flying carpet to whisk us away from the Palace of Asmodeus, I had no idea where he was taking me. I certainly hadn’t expected a spot this stunning.

"This is incredible!" I breathed.

Azriel stepped up behind me, wrapping his long arms securely around my waist and pulling my back against his chest. "This place is called the Lotus Cascades," he murmured, his breath warm against my ear. "When I created the other kingdoms , I made this waterfall specifically for you. I noticed how much you love beautiful things, and I wanted to give you something truly magical."

A soft chuckle escaped my lips, warmth blooming in my chest. I tilted my head back to glance at him. "Can we fly around it?"

"Whatever you desire, my little lotus, I shall grant it," he promised, his voice dripping with affection. Taking my hand, he guided me onto the flying carpet, standing right behind me with his hands resting firmly on my waist to keep me steady.

As the carpet lifted into the air and began to circle the cascading water, I stretched out my hands toward the spray, my heart pounding with pure awe. The cool mist brushed against my skin, and I trailed my fingers through the shimmering edge of the rainbow, smiling proudly at the beauty of his creation.

After a moment of soaring through the mist, we touched down near a lush, sprawling garden just ahead.

My eyes drifted upward, catching sight of an archway carved with glowing runes that spelled out my name. I froze, turning to glare at Azriel, a sudden wave of sharp, possessive jealousy flaring in my chest.

"What is this?" I demanded, crossing my arms. "Did you already know I was going to be your mate, or did you build this garden for another Seraphel?"

Azriel immediately shook his head, his crimson eyes wide with earnest panic. "I had no idea I would ever have a mate, nor did I ever dream of such a thing. But the second time I met you, my soul was drawn to you. As my feelings for you grew, I began building this place piece by piece within this domain. I never could have predicted that the Tower of Prosperity would teleport us all here. it was supposed to be the next kingdom i created not this new one.’’

A small sigh of relief escaped my lips, the jealousy melting away. "I guess the Tower of Prosperity is a shipper."

"A shipper?" Azriel’s brows furrowed in complete confusion as his eyes met mine. "What does that mean?"

I rolled my eyes playfully, realizing I had let a term slip out that someone in this world could never comprehend. Who uses such slang like shipper in a high-fantasy novel?

"Seraphel," he muttered softly, taking my hand and guiding me toward the wooden gate that led into the heart of the garden.

"A ’shipper’ means someone who cheers for lovers and wants them to end up together," I explained, simplifying it as best as I could as we stepped through the entrance.

Azriel’s lips curved into a bright, dazzling smile, looking pleasantly surprised by the definition. "Well, then I have to say, I quite like this ’shipper’." He clapped his hands together gently in amusement.

I burst out laughing at his playful expression. It was endearing, considering that just an hour ago in the council hall, he looked like he was ready to tear Luceriel apart with his bare hands.

To reach the main display of the garden, we walked across a charming little wooden bridge spanning a crystal pool. I looked down into the clear water, my eyes widening at the sight of twin white lotuses floating side by side upon the surface, their petals glowing with a faint divine light.

Azriel truly knew how to pull off the ultimate surprise date, even if using the word date out loud would only confuse him further.

The entire garden was an absolute paradise—blooming with every variety of lotus imaginable, filling the cool air with a sweet, delicate fragrance that matched my natural scent perfectly.

Before I could speak, Azriel wrapped his arms around me from behind, pulling me tight against his heart. He buried his face in my neck, holding me with a sudden, desperate tightness that turned the romantic atmosphere into something heavy with longing and angst.

"That is how obsessed I am with you," Azriel whispered, pressing a soft kiss to the side of my cheek. "I really don’t want you to go to Verolona. I just want you here with me."

I leaned back against his broad chest, closing my eyes for a moment as I absorbed his warmth and the raw pain in his voice.

My heart ached for him, but I knew I couldn’t stay. I was far too weak, and staying weak meant risking both our lives.

"Azriel," I muttered slowly, turning in his arms to face him.

He lowered his head until his forehead rested against mine, his eyes full of unbearable devotion. I reached up, gently cupping his face in my hands.

"I truly want to stay here with you, but I can’t," I told him softly. "I need to get stronger."

"But I can make you stronger, I can protect you—"

"I will be fine, Azriel, and you will be too," I interrupted gently, standing on tiptoe to press a soft kiss against his lips. I hesitated, wondering if it was a wise idea to reveal my transmigration to him—wondering if a high demon could even grasp the concept of another soul entering a body—before deciding he deserved the truth. "Besides... even if I tell you, you might not believe me, but... I wasn’t originally Seraphel. My real name is Nathan."

Azriel blinked, giving me a deeply confused look. "Nathaniel? Is that your other name?"

I let out a soft sigh. Explaining modern soul-transmigration to a sin who had never heard of secondary worlds was an impossible task, and besides i don’t think he would want to hear that he is only a book character, so I decided not to push the argument. "Yes... my other name is Nathaniel."

Azriel nodded, accepting the answer smoothly.

"You know," I continued, leaning my chin on his chest, "when I first woke up in this world, I hated you. You were so ruthless and cruel." I paused, remembering the horrors of the palace. "Like that pit filled with the bodies of dead omegas... They were powerless humans, Azriel. They didn’t deserve to be thrown away like trash. Will you burn that pit and give them a proper Funeral?"

Azriel frowned slightly, his pride flaring. "They were powerless humans who meant nothing. Why on earth should I grant them a burial? They served their purpose and dumping them in that pit is the best funeral they could ever get.’’

I frowned right back at him, my lips pouting.

Noticing my displeasure, he let out a defeated sigh. "If I do that for you, will it make you stay?"

I shook my head. "No... but it will make me happy."

"Alright," Azriel agreed without hesitation. "I will have it burned and give them a proper resting place."

I clapped my hands happily, beaming at him.

"Continue," his deep voice echoed directly inside my head through our bond, warm and demanding.

I chuckled softly before looking up into his fiery crimson eyes. "On the night of the grand banquet, right before the siege broke out... I wanted to tell you something. I couldn’t hide my feelings anymore, and when everything went to hell, I thought I might never see you again." I swallowed hard, my heart pounding against my ribs. "I love you, Azriel. I should have told you that night you confessed to me because I feel the same.’’

Azriel froze. His crimson eyes widened in absolute shock. "You... you love me?"

I gave him a firm, radiant nod.

With a breathless shout of joy, Azriel wrapped his hands around my waist, lifting me off my feet and spinning me around in a wild circle.

I threw my arms around his neck, laughing aloud until he set me down and captured my mouth in a deep, passionate kiss.

Our lips met with hungry desperation.

A soft moan escaped the back of my throat as Azriel pulled me impossibly closer, biting gently down on my lower lip before sucking it into his mouth with possessive heat. His hands gripped my hips tightly, deepening the kiss until we were both breathless, our chests heaving against one another.

When he finally pulled back, resting his mouth against my temple, I looked around the glowing white flowers. "This garden is so beautiful," I whispered softly. "Whenever you miss me while I’m in Verolona, you should come here."

Azriel smiled, grabbing my hand and leading me toward the edge of the crystal pool. "Come on."

Without warning, he kicked off his boots and stepped into the shallow water, splashing a wave of cool water right onto my chest!

"Hey!" I gasped in shock before laughing aloud. I immediately kicked my feet, splashing a huge wave right back at his face!

Azriel laughed—a rich, booming sound that filled the entire garden—and splashed me back.

I loved seeing this side of him and it made me realize how far we had come ever since I entered into this Novel.

We splashed each other like children, our laughter echoing off the stone walls until Azriel pulled me by the waist, wrapping his arms around me as we fell together into a sweet, lingering kiss.

"I love you, Azriel," I murmured against his lips.

"I love you more, my little lotus," he responded, kissing me again.
