On a Variety Show and Getting Carried to an Easy Win by Fluffies

Chapter 129: This Brother... Should I Still Acknowledge Him?

「Under another fissure.」

Ye Zuiyi was still shouting, but even after her voice grew hoarse, not a single person came.

She forced herself to her feet and, enduring the pain, limped off in one direction.

A girl with scales on her face followed behind her on all fours, like an animal.

Ye Zuiyi cursed under her breath as she limped along.

The scaly girl tilted her head, then suddenly pushed off with all four limbs. Her body skimmed just above the ground as she lunged toward Ye Zuiyi.

Ye Zuiyi didn’t notice a thing until she was tackled to the ground.

"AHHHH! Monster! Get off me!"

"Go eat Gu Zhao! Help! Somebody, save me!"

Ye Zuiyi struggled, on the verge of a breakdown.

The scaly girl stared down at her, opened her massive maw, and went to bite down on her neck.

"BANG!"

A gunshot rang out.

The scaly girl went limp, collapsing lifelessly on top of Ye Zuiyi.

"Ahhh, get off!" With tears streaming down her face, Ye Zuiyi frantically shoved the corpse off herself.

She then scrambled into a corner and curled into a ball.

"Huh, someone’s still alive here. And you look kinda familiar." Feng Jiexu walked over curiously, lifting Ye Zuiyi’s chin with the toe of his shoe.

He twirled the gun in his hand, his eyes narrowing as he stared at her.

Ye Zuiyi’s eyes were filled with terror. Seeing the man before her only made her more afraid.

"You’re one of the people with shorty." The corners of Feng Jiexu’s mouth lifted into a smirk, his eyes glinting with amusement.

"If you’re here, that means shorty came too, huh?"

Feng Jiexu grew even more excited. He really was fated to meet shorty!

Just look at this. Everywhere he went, there she was.

It was like she was a little sister sent from heaven!

Feng Jiexu’s eyes filled with tenderness. When Ye Zuiyi saw the look in his eyes as he mentioned Gu Zhao, her heart seethed with even greater resentment.

’It’s Gu Zhao again! I hope Gu Zhao drops dead!’

Feng Jiexu glanced down and saw the hatred and killing intent in her eyes. He frowned.

’Are all kids like this nowadays?’

’Shorty is still the cute one.’

"Do you want to live? If you do, then don’t get any funny ideas. Follow me. Say one word out of line, and I’ll blow your brains out."

Feng Jiexu turned and walked away without bothering to see if she was following, or if she could even keep up.

He was willing to take her for one reason: he was sure shorty was here too. If this girl had any malicious intentions, shorty would be in danger.

The second reason was that he’d never killed a kid before and was a bit out of practice.

As for the third reason... of course, it was to deliver her as a gift to shorty.

How would shorty deal with someone who wanted to kill her?

He was quite looking forward to it.

Feng Jiexu took a small object from his coat and, drawing near a wall, silently stuck it on.

The little device flashed with a red light before going dark again.

After doing this, he glanced back and sneered.

Ye Zuiyi was limping along behind him.

Noticing his gaze, she shuddered. The hatred in her heart didn’t diminish. ’I will make them all pay!’

Feng Jiexu walked up to a peculiar door.

The area outside the door resembled the pressure-resistant cabin of a submarine. A drainage system on the silver-white metal walls was humming, and water was gushing through the pipes, continuously pumping seawater out of the space.

Through this door lay the pitch-black seabed.

The exit was at the bottom of the sea.

He waited in front of the door for a few minutes. It opened, and a dozen or so people carrying guns herded a dozen or so children and a small teddy bear inside.

"Boss Feng!" The man in the lead flashed a fawning smile the moment he saw Feng Jiexu.

Feng Jiexu frowned, annoyed. His mission this time was to escort these children here.

"Let’s go. Time to see Jia Xu."

The group walked into the base.

Ye Zuiyi glanced at the peculiar door, bit her lip, and followed Feng Jiexu.

Feng Jiexu had been keeping an eye on her. Seeing her follow, he couldn’t help but wonder, ’Is she really just a kid?’

’Can shorty win against her? I feel like shorty isn’t very bright.’

The "not very bright" shorty, Gu Zhao, was currently pushing a small cart toward the prison cells. She had bluffed her way past everyone she met by riding on someone else’s coattails.

There were guards at the entrance to the cells. Gu Zhao hid the cart, put on a stern expression, and walked straight over.

"Miss Jia, what brings you here? Did the boss give an order?"

These were the same men from that morning.

Gu Zhao snorted. "As if my brother would remember you. Gu Huaiyan stole something from me! Go get it back for me!"

The men looked troubled. "Miss, you’ll have to ask someone else for that. We can’t leave our post."

Gu Zhao angrily stomped on one of their feet. She’d discovered that stomping on feet didn’t hurt her, but hitting people hurt her hand.

"I don’t know anyone else! I want *you* to go! If you don’t, I’ll tell my brother you bullied me! Who do you think he’ll believe, you or me?"

The men exchanged glances.

"The prisoners in here can’t escape anyway, so what are you worried about? Or do you think my brother’s base isn’t secure?!"

Gu Zhao glared at them impatiently.

They were in a tight spot. "Then, two of us will go..."

"All of you go! I need to make a strong showing!"

"Hurry up. If you don’t trust me to stand guard, don’t worry. If anything happens, my brother will back me up."

The men had no choice but to agree. After giving Gu Zhao a few instructions, they went off to retrieve the non-existent item.

A clueless Gu Huaiyan: ...

As soon as they left, Gu Zhao went to the corner and pushed the cart inside.

She had just reached the cell holding Gu Xulin and the others when she heard Zhong Mingrui’s miserable voice.

"Brother... let me recite a poem for you."

"Hungry, hungry, hungry, I tilt my head and sing to the sky. My empty hand on my stomach, my voice calling for the cooking pot."

Song Yi was very supportive. "A masterpiece!"

Gu Jiao praised him just as dramatically, "This child’s talent is terrifyingly great!"

Everyone else: ...

"Brother... I think I smell food... Have I achieved the unity of meal and poem? I compose a poem and smell a meal!" Zhong Mingrui sniffed the air, a look of pure bliss on his face.

"Oh no... I think I smell it too." Gu Xulin also sniffed the air.

"GRUMBLE GRUMBLE GRUMBLE..." Someone’s stomach rumbled loudly.

Song Zhe rubbed his stomach in embarrassment.

"Aren’t you going to welcome your Food God?" Gu Zhao appeared, pushing the cart. She grinned at the group.

When they saw her, they first glanced around. Seeing no one else, they turned to Gu Zhao with tears welling up in their eyes.

"Big King! I knew we’d be well-fed with you!"

"Long live Big King! May you reign for a thousand generations!"

"May everything go smoothly for you, Big King! May your spicy sticks never run out!"

Gu Zhao looked smugly at Gu Xulin. "Quick, praise me! Praise me!"

Gu Xulin looked helpless, but also a little worried. "Won’t you get exposed doing this?"

"Don’t worry. If I get exposed, I’ll just run."

Gu Xulin: ...

"Alright, then."

Gu Zhao passed the food containers to them through the bars, and everyone began to eat eagerly.

Gu Xulin picked up some food with his chopsticks and fed it to Gu Zhao.

Gu Zhao opened her mouth and ate it.

"Brother, what’s our third brother’s name?" Gu Zhao took the opportunity to ask.

She still felt that there was something different about that man.

She was determined not to fall for the "missed connection" trope.

Gu Xulin didn’t know where this was coming from, but he swallowed his food and answered, "Gu Huaiyan."

The moment Gu Zhao heard the name, she jumped up in excitement!

"I knew my feeling wasn’t wrong!"

Gu Xulin: ??

’Has my sister gone crazy?’

"Brother! I’m leaving now! Wait for me to give you a surprise!" Gu Zhao pushed the cart and ran off.

She ditched the cart somewhere and, instead of rushing to reunite with Gu Huaiyan, she decided to first explore the nearest "question mark" area.

After all, she was already here.

However, this place was also guarded. When Gu Zhao went to talk to them, they completely ignored her!

Her bluff had failed.

She had no choice but to leave and find Gu Huaiyan first. An extra person meant extra strength.

When she arrived at Gu Huaiyan’s door and pushed it open, the sight that greeted her was a completely trashed laboratory.

Everything had been thrown on the floor.

Gu Huaiyan was silently bending over, picking things up.

Gu Zhao: ’Oho, looks like I’ve already offended him.’

’Help! This brother... should I still claim him?’

’It’s pretty urgent.’
