Chapter 90: The Yu Family’s Little White Flower
Amidst the flies’ furious buzzing and discussion, Yu Xiaowei was shoved into the car by Yu’s father.
Yu Zimo silently returned to another car.
Meanwhile, Yu’s mother stood to the side, frequently glancing down at her watch with a look of anxiety and dissatisfaction.
"Tsk, tsk. I wonder if the poor two-legged beast can even survive being cut," one fly buzzed. The two flies took the opportunity to dash out of the car as the door opened.
They had no desire to find a new place to live.
"It’ll probably live. I heard two-legged beasts are hardier than us," the other fly buzzed.
Hua Baozi’s ears twitched, its eyes darted around, and its tail swept across Gu Zhao’s calf.
Gu Zhao looked over and saw Hua Baozi staring at Yu Xiaowei with a gossipy expression.
"What’s up?" Gu Zhao asked, ruffling the leopard’s head.
"Xiangxiang~ Are two-legged beasts really that hardy?" Hua Baozi was extremely curious.
Gu Zhao: ???
"Probably not. I’m pretty fragile myself. If anyone ever tried to rob me, I’d probably just keel over and die."
’Of course, anyone who tried to rob me would have to die, too!’
The moment Gu Zhao spoke, the leopard looked at her as if she were a porcelain doll. Then, it glanced back at Yu Xiaowei as if looking at a dead woman walking.
"Then she’s going to die, isn’t she? How pitiful. But don’t you worry, Xiangxiang! If anyone tries to dig out your kidney, I’ll eat theirs!" the leopard vowed, shooting a wary glance at Gu Xulin.
’Do all these two-legged beast families like to harm their own young? I must protect Xiangxiang!’
Gu Xulin was completely baffled. ’What was that for?’
Gu Zhao registered its words, and her expression immediately turned serious. She asked a few more questions.
The leopard told Gu Zhao everything it had heard from the flies, even double-checking with them to make sure it hadn’t misheard.
Yu’s father had already exchanged a few polite words with the other guests and gotten into his car.
The car began to drive away.
"Stop that car!" Gu Zhao shouted frantically.
[DRAMA! DRAMA! DRAMA!!! HERE COMES THE DRAMA!]
[When Gu Zhao makes a move, you know it’s big! I knew the Yu family were bad news just by looking at them!]
[Can you stop being so cynical and seeing the worst in everything! They came all this way to pick up their daughter. That’s already pretty great, okay?]
[I agree. The Yu Family was willing to spend money to find her, and now that they know she’s safe, they dropped everything to come in person. That already puts them ahead of ninety percent of parents. Gu Zhao can’t be jealous, can she? I remember Ye Zexi saying she’s not the favorite in her new family.]
Big Eagle and Little Eagle, who had been playing in the sky, immediately helped translate the command. In an instant, all the surrounding animals charged forward.
Hua Baozi quickly followed. A cheetah that had been lurking nearby to protect Xiangxiang hadn’t left either, and it immediately gave chase.
A menacing horde of animals blocked the car, with a few Grevy’s zebras being pushed to the very front.
The cheetah also moved to block the way.
"Will this big thing really stop?" one of the Grevy’s zebras trembled.
A lion swept its tail across the ground. "What’s there to worry about? We’re protected species. If they dare hit us, they’ll go to jail, and we’ll get to reincarnate."
The Grevy’s zebra was instantly fearless. It straightened its back and looked at the car with anticipation.
’I’m about to kick the bucket! Maybe Xiangxiang will even get to taste a piece of me!’
The driver was startled by the animals suddenly blocking the road and hastily yanked the steering wheel.
But no matter which way he turned, there were more animals.
The driver’s face was pale, his forehead beaded with cold sweat. Hitting even one of them would earn him a nice, long stay in a free residence.
He slammed on the brakes.
The car behind them faced the same situation and was also forced to a stop.
Yu’s mother, jostled uncomfortably, immediately flared up. "Are you driving with your feet?!"
The driver felt deeply wronged.
Yu’s father was relatively composed. "What’s wrong?"
The driver looked ready to burst into tears. "Boss, protected animals are blocking the road."
Yu Xiaowei was in the passenger seat. The moment she saw the animals, she felt like she’d seen the light at the end of the tunnel about to whisk her away.
Her heart pounded in her chest. Thankfully, the driver was skilled and didn’t crash the car.
In the other car, Yu Zimo remained silent, his palms covered in a layer of sweat.
The moment Gu Xulin heard Gu Zhao command the animals, he was startled.
’What do you do when your little sister never discusses anything with her big brother?! Urgent answers needed online!’
Zhong Mingrui and Song Yi, blindly supportive as ever, had already started spinning conspiracy theories.
"They must have done something wrong!" Song Yi said with conviction.
Zhong Mingrui readily agreed. "I bet they hit people, too. They just seem so aggressive."
"They probably don’t even let Yu Xiaowei eat!" Song Zhe chimed in. "She’s skinnier than I am."
He was only skinny because of his sheer bad luck; food just never seemed to make it into his mouth.
Hearing that, Zhong Mingrui was instantly convinced that every member of the Yu Family was utterly detestable.
’Not giving her food? That’s the most evil thing imaginable!’
Yu’s father didn’t dare get out of the car either, since it was surrounded by a mob of animals.
He was now utterly convinced that the show’s director was a complete moron. ’Who makes people film a variety show in such a dangerous place?!’
’What if I get hurt!’
Yu Xiaowei unbuckled her seatbelt and got right out of the car. The animals glanced at her but didn’t stop her.
Seeing her get out of the car, Yu’s father and mother grew frantic.
Yu’s mother started screaming, "Are you insane?! Are you trying to get yourself eaten just so Qiqi will die?!"
Yu’s father, his face contorted with rage, added, "If you want to die, go home and do it! This is no time to be throwing a tantrum! You’re so thoughtless! Qiqi is your sister, how can you be so selfish? If anything happens to Qiqi, we’ll never forgive you!"
Yu Xiaowei pretended not to hear, but her heart grew even colder toward the Yu Family.
’At first, she’d held onto a fantasy, a hope for some familial affection. Now... Damn it, could the whole Yu family just go up in flames!’
’The world already has so many miserable people, what’s a few more from the Yu clan?!’

When Yu’s mother saw that the animals weren’t biting Yu Xiaowei, she was struck by a sudden, inexplicable bout of courage. She threw open her door, got out, and quickly caught up to her daughter.
Then she slapped her right across the face.
"Was it easy for me to give birth to you?! Can you stop being so selfish for once!"
The animals were dumbfounded.
The live comments also went silent for a second.
And then they exploded.

Yu Xiaowei clutched her face, hesitating for a moment.

"Hit her back!" Gu Zhao yelled, getting way too invested and becoming the first to get angry.
Hearing that, Yu Xiaowei didn’t hesitate any longer. With a loud SMACK, she slapped her right back.
Yu Xiaowei put almost all of her strength into that slap.
Yu’s mother fell to the ground on the spot.
She clutched her face in disbelief, but her expression was one of disgust more than anything.
’I should have strangled her the moment she was born!’
"Sister! How could you hit Mother!" At some point, another car had arrived, and a girl in a little white dress who looked exceptionally fragile stepped out.
She looked like a Little White Flower.
A sick and pitiful Little White Flower, to be precise.
She was holding a Persian cat with heterochromia, and the cat looked as if it had completely lost the will to live.
’This damn phony! My teeth are itching! I want to bite her! My claws are itching! I want to scratch!’
The woman in the white dress hurried over to Yu’s mother, her eyes filled with concern. But despite her worried expression, she clutched the cat and made no move to help her mother up.
When Yu’s father, still in the car, saw the girl, he immediately ran out, ignoring the intimidating presence of the animals. "Sweetheart, why are you here? Didn’t I tell you to wait at the airport?"
"Are you feeling unwell?" Yu’s father asked, his face etched with worry.
